I kind of wonder why they didn't just include a discard pile so that problem you were talking about wasn't nipped in the bud, so to speak. 2 cards and only 2 cards. 3rd card goes into the discard pile and gets shuffled in later... Seems like something I would house rule.

The fix for Zees mentioned issue (I havent played it tbh and its just a thought) would be to ignore doubles and shuffle them back. This would make it even.

I was thinking the same thing, I might let it go to 3 but stop it at 4. But I'll have to play it to test it out.

I just learned this yesterday! I liked that it was easy to teach and the scoring. I kind of want a Yellowstone edition with all the geysers and hot springs.

We played so when you play a card you can only pick from either adjacent deck so it made the game harder. We’ll try again with the real rules :)

Got it on launch because I loved Stellar. Was concerned it would be too much alike. However, I love this game in its own right. The scoring is my favourite part. Glad Zee concurs this is a solid game! 👌🏻

I wondered whether they'd be able to follow Stellar. Impressive stuff.

Easy fix for the negative - reveal cards and add them only if that pile has only 1 card, otherwise keep drawing. After creating second x2 pile, shuffle the rest.

Agreed. This is the rule for setup so it makes sense to carry that over into the replenish stage.

Thanks for the review, Zee! I picked this up recently and it’s quickly become one of my favorite card games. I feel like the issue you mentioned with one cloud suddenly accumulating too many cards is not something I personally find to be that problematic. Because of the way scoring columns works, there are often cards that you DON’T want to take. When cards pile up, odds are that pile will include at least one of those cards that you don’t want. Instead of feeling like a “free win,” a big pile will to me often feel like a deliciously dangerous gamble. Do “free win” moments happen? Sure, but in my experience of about a half-dozen play-throughs, they’ve been pretty rare so far.

But isn't the big pile also juicy just to get them into your hand to give you more cards and therefore options? Havent played the game though, so just a thought...

@@Aaackermann Sure, but the pile is going to be mostly the same number, so even for that purpose there are positives and negatives. Lots of cards, but little flexibility.

This seems like a nice game! The 3-4 stacks card can honestly be easily house ruled ^^

The scoring gives me a strong Mandala vibe. I'd probably have a blast with this one!

I actually would've preferred colors, shapes and numbers instead of the attempted theme and the beautiful artwork...
I think it would've enhanced the 'Classic feel' that I agree these rules have.
Having this pictures actually makes it look 'more fleeting' IMO.
I would've also have the cards turned upside down when put into a set so their numbers won't be visible.
And I agree it's weird that during set up the 2 extra cards must be different, but that rules doesn't repeat itself during the game. Imma gonna house rule this.

reminds me a bit of arboretum with a twist, maybe more straight forward, but i dont feel the need to have both

I feel like the game Ecologies is a better version of the style/theme.
