Tested with the orb, you are correct. The best thing to do is shoot it horizontally to the right or left with a bit of upwards angle, the orb will fly slowly like it's on the moon, litetally sweeping pegs slowly from side to side
The best way to use Lazorb, I've found, is to launch it directly at the left or right wall, maybe at a slight angle. It's got such low gravity that it'll bounce back and forth and hit a large portion of the board.
The missed navigation always kills me It seems the relic where wall bounces and floor bouncers contribute to damage could work really well with the laser.
I think where you went wrong was skipping out on echo. With all the chipping damage and heal tanking you were doing, a snowball with echo was the only way you were gonna make it through that boss fight.
Throwing Lazorb horizontally with minimal refreshes and crits is the way to go. You could literally clear out a whole board of pegs, not to mention, with the wall bounces count towards damage if you got your shot perfectly horizontal you could farm infinite damage!
I just finished my first successful run with the lasorb and using the relic (among others) that grants morbid, so all the empty pegs also hit, and shooting the lasorb basically horizontal, routinely getting 3000-10000 damage as it ping-pongs back and forth until hitting a special peg. Works better the fewer bombs / refreshes / crits you have, as long as you eventually hit the crit (altho even without it you can do hundreds or thousands of damage). I also had that damn leaf that causes refresh to only do 4 pegs, and it's only the morbid relic that saved the run.
The leaf relic *can* be really good if you have the "refreshes trigger crits" relic and something like the crit fleece or the crits deal damage to all enemies relics, but it's pretty underwhelming on its own.
Tbf, simply using it with broccoli and cookie is actually pretty strong for a muscircle build. Only problem is, Tom is playing without cruciball and he got an extra crit at the start, meaning he had anti-muscircle synergy already. It could be clearly seen in the bossfight how rarely he didn't crit.
So in response to your muscircle comment. I definetly think its fun to not use muscircle. The issue you tend to have is for instance with this build while you had a bunch of refreshes on the board because you had 3 crits the odds of you using it made it unlikely and not good with your scaling. the damage prevention would have been a lot more useful for when you run up against ranged units.
That's been my main complaint with the new change to the Balladin’s class relic. It basically forces you into a muscircle build if you want to take full advantage of the class relic.
19:16 The second he moused over the leaf I knew he'd pick it and most likely die. Oh Tomathy. Even when the Chalice would have made the Muscircle problem less noticeable too. Alas, the heart wants what the heart wants.
The laser is pretty fun. It's basically just light reflecting off the walls, so don't aim it at the things it hits - aim it sideways so it scans side-to-side and pierces as many pegs as possible without bouncing into the pit.
7:32 Dupe a RefreshOrb ... keep you healthy ♻🍪 13:21 Multiball + Replenishorb ... keep you healthy 🌠🌠🌠🍪 Why do I have a sinking feeling you're going to die this run 🔮
A single refreshorb and cookie is enough to heal you plenty so long as if there's pegs to hit. The leaf relic was the biggest mistake, as every time I've seen this relic played it ruins a run. It needs boosting to 6 or 8 pegs refreshed for it to be viable imho
@@AtomixKingg honestly even at 10 I still think it would be absolute trash unless you have no refresh orbs *and* something that specifically works off of refresh pegs
The best way to use the lasorb in my experience is to fire it horizontally. The less stuff it hits, the better, it just sweeps through regular pegs. Comboing it with bouncy stuff is nice too
I like it when Tom picks the less useful relics to combo with the laser. Laser likes bouncing off the wall and less unique pegs, so let's reduce the amount of pegs and introduce more unique pegs!
Crit build where you combine the magnet, refresh is crit, each crit cause a duoble crit, overwhammer, squirrel and then like highway orbery or the crit multiball.
12:37 Wow. Watching Tom play with his balls sure is fun! (Also what did you expect? Lasers and mirrors! They reflect! It checks out!) Also I feel like with each update the devs know how to keep breaking builds and they don't care at this point. Honestly, I'm here for it. We love broken builds! LMAO
08:27 as an Italian, I have ti agree with your assessment (I am biased towards trofie, but that's because of that pasta being the one from my birthplace).
That 'plus ten refreshes' relic, along with the 'refreshes move every turn' and the 'when refreshes and crits move they leave a copy behind' relics sounds like a wacky combo that could be quite fun (whether it's viable or not is a different question). Fill the board with refreshes.
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1373 UPDATE TIME WOOOOO Oh now that Laser is a cool one, and real wacky. It does work really well with the horn and wall bounces. I for one would love to see Tom take another crack at it, as I feel once you can figure it out it can get really good, as we did see a bit of when Tom started to get the hang of it Ye, as soon as Tom took that damned leaf, I knew the wrong path had been taken OOO Gold Orb does sound cool, would love to see a run with it :D
Change the special relic that makes all the extra refreshes instead activate a refresh every 5 pegs hit but still refresh only 4 pegs. The board will still slowly degrade but things will be a lot more consistent and hitting refreshes can counter the degradation.
Feel like it's a bit of an oversight that the replenishorb consumes it's own created refreshes when the orb "doesn't activate refresh". Would have been much more interesting of an item should you be able to just fill the board with refreshes. But perhaps that's an issue in interaction with magnet holding it on them, or as a precaution so you couldn't accidentally fire a ball that never ended.
It strikes me that if you fired the laser to the side rather than down and removed pegs that it bounced off then you could probably clear the board because the laser seems to fly in a straight line unlike every other ball
I think you could have managed an invincibility run by relying a bit more on the refreshircle at the end, though the leaf limiting refreshes to 4 pegs definitely did you in.
That stupid leaf kills basically every run I take it on. Even if it doesn't it always seems to make it harder than it would be otherwise, unless its a hyper-focused refresh build.
I disagree on the muscircle thought. It is as potent as spinefication, but the moment you accidentally hit a crit peg, you do 10% of your damage. It's so hard getting rid of crit pegs and they cripple your big hits so often that I feel like muscircle is harder to spec into.
Same, I think it would still have been effective with Tom's Broccoli Muscircle build, but ONLY if you can avoid hitting Crits, which he really could not.
I wish there was more ways to remove crits. like the only way to remove them is with one boss relic, and it only completely removes them if you're playing on cruciball 3 or higher. the balladin which has a higher chance of seeing murcicle relics only has one way to remove them. I think murcicle relics are a good bandaid for a build with only 1 crit on the board, but when you start with 2 crits the murcicle is just wasted.
I can't think of a build where taking that +10 refresh but only 4 pegs relic doesnt kill the build. You're practically guaranteed to end up with an empty board
if you used your refresh orbs at the end you probaly would of won, they were hitting just as hard as dagger and would of refreshed more pegs healing you and keeping pegs on the board
the refresh one seems like it needs a buff. i do see where it could be ok with the things that do damage when refreshing but it needs to refresh like 5 pegs instead of 4 at the very least. i tried it and even with a full refresh build its not the best choice
3 or 4 orbs only coming back sounds pretty bad, doesn't help that replenish just doesn't know how to actually replenish without breaking it's own refreshes
How has Tom not figured out to aim at the top of the Giant slime; a;ways aiming too low and it basically hits the side where the ball just goes straight down. Aiming at the top middle should at least net a few more pegs, no? The last boss, I think the refreshing orb would have ended up with more healing done, and hopefully pegs on the board. Not a fan of how few pegs that relic gives back but that is more for maps that have too many gaps/open spaces for it to fall through . The minotaur fight... that would be a nightmare...
Pretty sure laser is better the less special pegs there are. Just aim it at the wall so it passes through as many normal pegs as possible
Was thinking this aswell especially the final boss where they rotate into you so you could effectively shoot horizontally and hit most of it anyway
Tested with the orb, you are correct. The best thing to do is shoot it horizontally to the right or left with a bit of upwards angle, the orb will fly slowly like it's on the moon, litetally sweeping pegs slowly from side to side
Refreshicle: "Refresh board on the first peg hit"
Tom: * Skips it the entire boss fight *
Also Tom: We literally have no pegs to hit! :O
Exactly this. He has the only build that makes the leaf relic good and just misused it terribly
Only Tom would try stalling on the boss whose main gimmick is that they continually ramp up their damage and self-healing.
stalling a boss who's main gimmick is ramping up by skipping both of his refresh orbs while he's got a relic that limits refreshes to only 4 pegs
The best way to use Lazorb, I've found, is to launch it directly at the left or right wall, maybe at a slight angle. It's got such low gravity that it'll bounce back and forth and hit a large portion of the board.
I sure love watching Tom peg
😳
😳
The intro killed me. Man I love Tom's peglin vids
imagine gettin pegged
Same, I love watching Tom play with his balls. He's quite an expert at tossing them into fire.
Thank you Josh for allowing Tom to continue to open these videos in the most Tom way possible.
Next time try throwing the laser orb horizontally so it covers more area before reaching the bottom.
The missed navigation always kills me
It seems the relic where wall bounces and floor bouncers contribute to damage could work really well with the laser.
Lazorb + Morbid would be a pretty good combo.
Its a stong combo especially with some added multiballs
laser plus wall bounce damage would be amazing
I think where you went wrong was skipping out on echo. With all the chipping damage and heal tanking you were doing, a snowball with echo was the only way you were gonna make it through that boss fight.
Throwing Lazorb horizontally with minimal refreshes and crits is the way to go. You could literally clear out a whole board of pegs, not to mention, with the wall bounces count towards damage if you got your shot perfectly horizontal you could farm infinite damage!
Or better yet, the +10 Refresh relic with the other relic that causes Refresh pegs to AoE
The potion multiball is one of my favorite balls at this point.
I love that you left that opening in said we can't do that, and then proceeded to double down anyways 😂
16:53 Can we all just appreciate the quality of this edit
Man they should add a relic that gives you pinball paddles!
that'd be so cool!! removing the bumpers and adding two super bouncy paddles on the sides!!
I love that Tom still hasn’t leaned that fishing for coins while navigating **always** goes wrong hahaha
to be fair I have 100+ hours and I also greed and lose more health than it was worth and end up having to pay for a heal 😭😭
I just finished my first successful run with the lasorb and using the relic (among others) that grants morbid, so all the empty pegs also hit, and shooting the lasorb basically horizontal, routinely getting 3000-10000 damage as it ping-pongs back and forth until hitting a special peg. I also had that damn leaf that causes refresh to only do 4 pegs, and it's only the morbid relic that saved the run.
Leaf the rest for later could be buffed like maybe 5 extra refreshes for only half the missing pegs
The leaf relic *can* be really good if you have the "refreshes trigger crits" relic and something like the crit fleece or the crits deal damage to all enemies relics, but it's pretty underwhelming on its own.
duplication potion would also make it ridiculous too, not that duplication potion wasn't insane already
How did he know I like pegging and playing with balls?!
So in response to your muscircle comment. I definetly think its fun to not use muscircle. 19:16 The second he moused over the leaf I knew he'd pick it and most likely die. Oh Tomathy. Even when the Chalice would have made the Muscircle problem less noticeable too. Alas, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Thom needed to use one of his refresh-based orbs on the final boss there. It would've helped to alleviate his peg-problems.
5:33 where the heck did Josh even find this picture to go with the conversation. Why does it even exist in the first place!?
maybe they just googled "spaghetti beard"? or something haha
The intro: Chef's kiss!
The laser is pretty fun. It's basically just light reflecting off the walls, so don't aim it at the things it hits - aim it sideways so it scans side-to-side and pierces as many pegs as possible without bouncing into the pit.
the extra refresh relic *could* be good with golden fleece and the refresh crit potion, at least if the latter counts for golden fleece crits.

refresh activates crit, crits stack, mantle makes the 10 refresh orbs pretty good
Bam, pegging and playing with our balls
I died when you hit the fire repeatedly at start lol
I was waiting for the squirrel cape HARD nerf to be screamed at... but I don't think Tom even looked at it
There's a lot of stuff in this game where the only response to a nerf is "Dang, makes sense."
The best way to use the lasorb in my experience is to fire it horizontally. The less stuff it hits, the better, it just sweeps through regular pegs. Comboing it with bouncy stuff is nice too

There's a relic that makes all balls morbid

It hurt my soul to watch dear Tom firing the laser at such a steep downward angle, especially during the final boss

Ye, as soon as Tom took that damned leaf, I knew the wrong path had been taken
OOO Gold Orb does sound cool, would love to see a run with it :D
What's real good is a death ray build which is the laser plus a relic that gives you morbid
Who else had to hold themselves back from screaming "THROW THE REFRESHCIRCLE!!!" out loud in the final battle?
That leaf relic with the ten refreshes but only 4 restored seems meant for a morbid build as then the missing pegs dont hurt as much.
Alien's Rock just blew his last YT peglin video taking the same exact relic. I was shaking my head when I saw you consider it lmao
the 10 refresh relic might be good with some of the morbid balls/relics, make use of all the blank pegs?
Change the special relic that makes all the extra refreshes instead activate a refresh every 5 pegs hit but still refresh only 4 pegs. The board will still slowly degrade but things will be a lot more consistent and hitting refreshes can counter the degradation.

I've played this if anyone wants to know: the special golden orb does a multiball and gives you a gold on every peg but it only does one damage
This game never stops giving
And Bam, its Peglin everybody!
Skipping the Refreshorb when he so desperately needed both refreshes and cookie heals hurt me a little. Still, loved the wacky build!

that laser orb needs piercing at least when maxed and it could be fun if the mirrors just reflect all the damage of the orb
