@@jenniferdixon7633 John Farnham who is known as the voice down under. He isn’t world famous cause he chose not to tour outside of Australia for family reasons. Look him up on TH-cam for example him singing the Beatles song “help” live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra
Mark Maratea they’re both great but Steve Perry’s voice is unbelievably gorgeous. I get goosebumps whenever I listen to him. Go listen to “She’s Mine” “Oh Sherrie” “You better wait” “Young Hearts Forever” from his solo albums (there are more) and watch “Mother Father” “Wheel in the Sky” where he synchronizes his voice to Schon’s guitar from Journey Live in Houston. He’s amazing, no autotune or backing tracks.
I'll up that the other 100th of a %. But, gotta say that holds true for most of the icons of music from the mid 20th century right up to about the last 15 years of it and then the music just died in the hearts of the performers...it was all about the money and the moves or something. But it just veered off into repetitive words and a beat for working out to on exercise video. Gone were the masters of the industry. There were a few here and there that had the soul and heart and they are still with us today. But nothing like these. Maybe predjudiced, but I listen to all kinds of genres. Used to work in the distributing of entertainment music and then movies and it's always these who's words crop up in everyday conversations that add flair and perspective, because they're just as relevant now as they were then. I've even heard sermons where priests/pastors use their lyrics to make a point - and the congregations, a mix of young and old alike - nod, knowing exactly what is meant by the reference. Ran a daycare in the early 80's - 2002 and the adults those kids became, to this day, will listen to, and prefer, these artists to their own generation's. Maybe had something to do with not spending your hard earned money on owning a classic, or because it's free to download; it was cheap and not supportive of the artists, so they did one hit wonders and vanished. ?? Not sure, but as the group America once sang...bye-bye ms american pie I drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and Rye, singing this'll be the day that I die.... the day the music died.
Hands down his best. Who else can sit in front of a mic in the dark and command millions of views. No one period. Thanks for the 80's and beyond Steven. Timeless professional.
His voice is soothing to me, I lost my husband in January 2022 and his ballads help me to cope, thank you Steve I know that you can relate with this! I miss you Pete my love, 45 years wasn't enough, Till we meet again!!!
Steve was the truth. That dude could really sing. I miss the 80s so much, it seems like everything was cool, Friday night football games, school dances, kissing under the bleachers, McDonald's was good back then, some underage drinking and weed, DAMN I wish I could do it again, lol.
I need a love that grows I don't want it unless I know That each passing hour Someone somehow Will be there, ready to share... I need a love that's strong I'm so tired of being alone But will my lonely heart play the part Of the fool again Before I begin Foolish heart, hear me calling Stop before you start falling Foolish heart, heed my warning You've been wrong before Don't be wrong anymore Feeling that feeling again I'm playing a game I can't win Love's knocking on the door Of my heart once more Think I'll let her in Before I begin Foolish heart, hear me calling Stop before you start falling Foolish heart, heed my warning You've been wrong before Don't be wrong anymore Foolish heart... Foolish, foolish heart You've been wrong before Foolish heart, hear me calling Stop before you start falling Foolish heart, heed my warning You've been wrong before Don't be wrong anymore Foolish heart... Oh foolish, foolish heart You've been wrong before Foolish, foolish heart Foolish heart
Thanks for posting the words to this beautiful song! They are forever engraved in the minds and hearts of Steve's loyal fans! Always FTLOSP! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Steve Perry is a National Treasure! I live in Hanford, California which is Steve’s hometown, and we are so proud to represent someone so talented and wholesome! Love you Steve!!
+Tommy Lorensen Some forget he was a solo artist before Journey, hes not the original vocalist of that band. but he is the most remembered and no doubt that band had its greatest success with him at the front. I was very young in the 80s, hell, I was only 9 when he became a solo artist the second time, but Im glad I lived to see those days. Music was awesome then.
It's amazing how this song can bring you right back to the 80's in an instant. I know I will sound old for saying this, but they just don't make music like this anymore. The only male singer of this Era that can actually sing is Justin Bieber, he has talent but everything else is crap.
Me. And I thank my parents for tht...the 80s were the best time n era for music lyrically. The times then were simpler but i didnt know this bc i was a young teen growing up. Thank you Mom & Dad R.I.P 2016 two Angel's gone to💔💔❤❤😇😇 heaven
I heard this song the other day and I instantly became emotional. Steve Perry was one of my mom's favorite singers and this was one of her favorite songs. I remember her playing the "Street Talk" album many times, singing along to "Foolish Heart" and "Oh, Sherrie" (another one of her favorites.) She passed away a few years ago and any time I hear a favorite song of hers I think about how much I miss her and how quickly time passes. I'm grateful for the time I did have with her and I cherish all the wonderful memories connected with the music she (and I) loved.
I am sorry for your loss. There's no replacing her. I know. But you can visit the things that she held precious. And for a moment you and her are one again. Keep finding those things and she will always be close 💔❤
Beautifully said..I too was just the same.. my daughter would say Moma sing 🎤 Steve Perry.. Precious memories..May we all keep remembering..Blessings to you!!
Just an amazing VOICE, insane vocal range this man has. Where are men singers like this now a days? Gone are those days when men had vocal talent like this.
+Julie Bridge Tell your teenage daughter that it's embarrassment to put Justin in the same sentence with Steve Perry. He clears his throat better than Justin sings. Come on.
OMG EVERY SINGLE TIME I press play, no matter when, where, what year, I must REPEAT @LEAST 10 TIMEZ......never failz.....as if I never want it to end ....and don't lemme actually WATCH the video, with Stevez PURE heartfelt, passionate sexy self. Ugh. I'm so done.
Soaring vocals---just the best ever. I'm so happy to know he's recording again....amazing man, greater talent. Thank you, Steve, for sharing your voice with us.
I had the privilege of seeing Steve Perry on his solo tour in '94. They could have turned the band off and let him carry the entire concert by himself; his voice is simply that incredibly good.
Brandon Taylor I cried when he toured in 94 and I couldn’t see him. I was 8 months pregnant and on bed rest. I was so lucky to see him in 1981 @ 16 years old, Journey Escape Tour, in Denver. Best concert I have been to yet, and I’ve been to a lot of concerts.
My personal opinion, Best voice in rock n roll.. as raspy as his voice is Steve Perry hits some serious highs. Just an all around amazing musician. ❤️ Journey
I totally agree.. It bring tears to my eyes listening to his voice now in my late 60's... I wonder where have these voices gone? Their music have never been replaced..
It's Steve Perry's best song... There is no more significant song than this, throughout his solo career. His lyrics are perfect because at some point in life everyone, without exception, we have a silly heart
I love Steve Perry. He came into my work and no one but me knew it was him. We talked for a long time and he was so gracious towards me. I'm so thankful for that moment with him. Such an immense talent. God truly blessed him.
Steve is showing us his soul/r&b roots with this beautiful song. Had he not joined Journey he could of been a big solo artist too. He didn't really need a band since his exquisite voice was an orchestra all to itself.
***** True but before he joined the band he was just another struggling musician who's career was going nowhere (incredible as that might sound). In fact he almost gave up on the music business altogether. Obviously fate stepped and took care of the rest.

If you are, i want to remind you that you are a very special gift to life that I personally is eternally grateful for, my introduction to you was the song....When you love a woman...That song really blew my mind and many, many years after I saw the video and this time both the song and your eyes did it again, so many times, I barely have any left.💥
Yes you are special, indeed.🙏🌹🏆
Steve doesn't need the music, he is the music. Thanks Steve for all the years of the best music around ever, then or now.
He s d definition of music
He has perfect pitch.
No Auto- tune necessary..No jumping around with pants around their ankles..And no Bragging about how rich they are..This is Pure Talent..

This man's voice can stop you in your tracks. Just stunning
35-year-old song still better than anything being put out today.
You're sure damn right about that 💯
Anything? I'd stack half a dozen Sia or Adele songs against this. There is great music out there.
I so agree with you! That's why I'm still listening in 2019!
Yes indeed true music never die's
Steve is just heads above other singers. I think he is the best rock singer ever.
He is up there, still there is Plant, Scott, B. Johnson, Lee Roth and other voices. But he is great
Steve Perry is my favorite rock singer of all times 😊 But there are other wonderful singers like Axl Rose
Freddie Mercury
Britney Spears is by far the best female vocalist
did jason smith really say brittany spears is the best female vocalist? holy shit.
Steve Perry, one of the best singers in the world. 😍
Right next to George Michael. Simply stunning.
@@eartheternal3565 I admire George but Steve's voice is an another level, I think

Ooooh man.... I'd have to say no. Steve is my all time favorite but I don't think there would ever be a loser in that match up.
@Megan Willis
Everyone does. That's why they call him "the voice".
Yes!!
So so much better music than this generation ❤
I'd rather listen to Steve , better than 99.99% of the new music that is out there now.
As Neal Schon said, one in a million.
I can listen to Steve sing over and over again. His emotional delivery is beyond compare. He has that magical quality which touches your heart.
That Part Exactly!!.....🤍🪙😭🎁🖤🎼🎤
So nicely said...
I totally agree with you I love this song 🥰🖤
Me too❤ over and over!
Hands down his best. Who else can sit in front of a mic in the dark and command millions of views. No one period. Thanks for the 80's and beyond Steven. Timeless professional.
There are definitely others, but I absolutely LOVE Steve! ❣️
November 2024 Steve is still the best!
He takes my breath away. The sound of his voice. I become completely mesmerized

His voice is soothing to me, I lost my husband in January 2022 and his ballads help me to cope, thank you Steve I know that you can relate with this! I miss you Pete my love, 45 years wasn't enough,
Till we meet again!!!
@@margaretjones1763 I am sorry for your loss. You had him for a long time ❤️🥰
Steve was the truth. That dude could really sing. I miss the 80s so much, it seems like everything was cool, Friday night football games, school dances, kissing under the bleachers, McDonald's was good back then, some underage drinking and weed, DAMN I wish I could do it again, lol.
Ridley Jones ME too!! The youth will never know what a great time we had!
Ridley Jones “McDonald’s was good back then” gold 👌🏽

I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
That each passing hour
Someone somehow
Will be there, ready to share...
I need a love that's strong
I'm so tired of being alone
But will my lonely heart play the part
Of the fool again
Before I begin
Foolish heart, hear me calling
Stop before you start falling
Foolish heart, heed my warning
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore
Feeling that feeling again
I'm playing a game I can't win
Love's knocking on the door
Of my heart once more
Think I'll let her in
Before I begin
Foolish heart, hear me calling
Stop before you start falling
Foolish heart, heed my warning
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore
Foolish heart...
Foolish, foolish heart
You've been wrong before
Foolish heart, hear me calling
Stop before you start falling
Foolish heart, heed my warning
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore
Foolish heart...
Oh foolish, foolish heart
You've been wrong before
Foolish, foolish heart
Foolish heart

Steve Perrys voice is such a God given gift...Such a God given man...
His voice is great and so are his songs, but "God given?" Perry is an athiest.

I agree. His voice is so awesome.
He cant touch the talent of Taylor Swift period !!!!!
Steve Perry is a National Treasure! I live in Hanford, California which is Steve’s hometown, and we are so proud to represent someone so talented and wholesome! Love you Steve!!

Don't forget Mr. Perry's influence: SAM COOK! Good music is hard to make!!?
There should be two rock hall of fame inductions, Steve Perry on his own, and Steve with Journey.
I agree with you on that!
John Ritcher Steve should have his own Hall of Fame
John Ritcher GREAT IDEA!
It's amazing how this song can bring you right back to the 80's in an instant. I know I will sound old for saying this, but they just don't make music like this anymore. The only male singer of this Era that can actually sing is Justin Bieber, he has talent but everything else is crap.
Blessed are those who grew up in the 80's with this kind of music.
I wouldn't trade it for anything! I wish I could go back! 🙏🏻✝️🙋🏼♀️😊
Me. And I thank my parents for tht...the 80s were the best time n era for music lyrically. The times then were simpler but i didnt know this bc i was a young teen growing up. Thank you Mom & Dad R.I.P 2016 two Angel's gone to💔💔❤❤😇😇 heaven

Is it just me or i prefer songs from the 60's-90's era....
What a beautiful song! Who hasn't identified whith these lyrics?. GREAT STEVE PERRY!!.😊
Sorry for your loss 😔
Meus sentimentos de pesar por sua perca, amo ouvir essas músicas, espero que minhas filhas se lembrem. As músicas ajudam a acalmar as dores. ❤️
I am sorry for your loss. There's no replacing her. I know. But you can visit the things that she held precious. And for a moment you and her are one again. Keep finding those things and she will always be close 💔❤
I am sorry for your loss.
I was just saying that to my teenage daughter's, even they recognize that Justin what's his name can't sing. Steve has a true gift!!
My husband has an amazing voice and yet he lacks the confidence to use it
+devonferris Paul Rodgers ain't bad. David Pack of Ambrosia wasn't too bad, either.
+Julie Bridge Tell your teenage daughter that it's embarrassment to put Justin in the same sentence with Steve Perry. He clears his throat better than Justin sings. Come on.

I love this song. I could listen to it over and over again. Steve Perry has a beautiful voice.

Marcia Scaramuzzi he really does! To me, him and Ann Wilson are two of the best rock voices. I would love to hear them sing a duet together.
I’m 70 yrs old& I still listen to journey !! The 70s & 80s were the greatest time in my life!
I had the privilege of seeing Steve Perry on his solo tour in '94. They could have turned the band off and let him carry the entire concert by himself; his voice is simply that incredibly good.
Me too!!! Saw him on that tour in Springfield, MA. Great show!!!

This may not make sense but I feel his voice is at the perfect raspiness level. Raspy but smooth and beautiful.
and Brayan Adams
I totally agree
Steve perry, brian adams, Rod stewart, voices cool
It's Steve Perry's best song... There is no more significant song than this, throughout his solo career. His lyrics are perfect because at some point in life everyone, without exception, we have a silly heart
There's a huge catalog of like 9 albums...this isn't the hardest song he's ever done.
I have to argue that "Living on Welfare" may have been better.
@Octavio Piedra Calero The heart wants what it wants

Steve is showing us his soul/r&b roots with this beautiful song. Had he not joined Journey he could of been a big solo artist too. He didn't really need a band since his exquisite voice was an orchestra all to itself.

True but before he joined the band he was just another struggling musician who's career was going nowhere (incredible as that might sound). In fact he almost gave up on the music business altogether. Obviously fate stepped and took care of the rest.
