Honestly perhaps the most helpful useful technique I've seen b4! I always have trouble with values, colors hues etc. This is a very practical way of learning how to determine values. Its broken down to the barest of ways to understand values and applying them. Thank you so much..
A quick tip for beginners: If you don't know how to make your acrylic paint, i.e. oil paint in a light colour, then use watercolour as they are easy to make light with the use of water.
I wanted the version that doesn't use white or black. In oil painting i remember we just used sienna, and nothing else. I find that's much harder vs using three colors like you are here.
Is there anything else you recommend I do that can help me transfer the portrait onto my canvas, because I unfortunately do not have any pastels in hand.
Hi, I have a little question about acrylic paints, is that while I'm painting there are clear texture of the brush left on the drawing, so it looks so messy. Is there any way prevent that happening?
There is no app necessarily, the easiest way to tell the difference is by adding a black and white filter and adjusting highlights, shadows, and contrast! You can do this in your phone setting if you have an iPhone, but you can always download any photo editing app which still achieves the same outcome. Hope this helps!!
This is the craziest most astonishing technique I've ever seen 😮

I totally agree , this really explained values and how to evaluate application of them . What a clever way to explain and educate with simplicity.
This was so, so good. Wow, a learning experience. Thank you.

This is an awesome project assignment to teach monochromatic colors. Where do you get the paper? Where did you order it from?
I think it’s regular paper and the oil crayon does all the magic
This was fantastic- I’ve been want to try this, what great guidance, thanks

Hi! I recommend doing 2-3 coats of paint to help with this problem.
Is that Rhianna?.....No but that's her forhead😭😭😭😭
Why are you so understanding
Please help me. What app can you suggest to create monochrome photo reference? Thank you.. God bless everyone

Yayyyy thank you
Does this work on canvases or is it best for paper?
This will work on both canvas and paper! Just keep in mind that paper will "buckle," or get sort of wavy, if it gets too wet. A Canvas will stay flat.
So its actualy painting by numbers
Helpful
Is that watercolor?
It seems like it's acrylic but I'm not certain
I'm pretty sure its acrylic because if it was watercolor she wouldn't have used a fairly dry brush.
