Symphony X is the most criminally unrecognized band in metal. Easily the best band that most people have never heard of.

@@MythroniesDark Moor used to be an amazing band, it’s a shame that they’re not really interested in their power metal/neoclassical sound anymore and have moved on in a new musical direction 😢😢Their last three albums just aren’t for me unfortunately….

Glad to see someone who enjoys Symphony as much as I do, they're my all time favorite band, and only just discovered them a few years ago! So incredibly underrated
took my back to 9 years ago when i discoverded them always a blast listening to them
Symphony X has been in my Top 2 or 3 favorite bands ever for probably over 20 years now. Absolutely incredible no matter which era of them you listen to. The more people Jason just helped introduce to them, the better, because they deserve it. Russell Allen can serenade me all day and night.
They also have pretty much been around for the entirety of Guitar Hero Customs. As far back as I can remember first seeing burned PS2 discs starting everything off, I distinctly remember a notechart for "Inferno (Unleash the Fire)", though I don't recall if my friend back then ever had it on his burned disc I used to watch him play. Seeing their ENTIRE discography now existing on Clone Hero brings a tear to my eye. I hope every one of those songs gets played a million times.
ALSO GODDAMN SICK SIGHTREADS JASON, YA LEGEND. I hope there's more videos of Symphony X charts coming, as I doubt I can go back and see Twitch VODs. :(

I like the "this sounds like Ayreon" comment in chat - that's actually how I discovered Symphony X a few decades ago now. (Sir, lol) Russell Allen did vocals for another of Arjen Anthony Lucassen's (aka mastermind of Ayreon) projects, namely "Star One" on the album "Space Metal" that came out in 2002. An album that also features a 21 year old Floor Jansen. ^^ Can warmly recommend it to anyone and everyone who enjoys Symphony X.

Bro, This is why I love watching your stuff. You're always showing me cool new music. You introduced me to Haken when you did Falling Back to Earth. I love their music so much that I've charted a lot of their songs since them. (Including the entire Affinity album). Puzzle Box and Good Doctor are probably my best work though. That or The Mind's Eye+Portals+Shapeshifter all in one chart. (Because they lead into eachother so nicely) I doubt anyone will notice, but I can upload them somewhere if anyone's interested.
First time seeing them live was their Odyssey tour. That song is freaking EPIC live

I love the Twilight in Olympus album. It's the only Symphony-X album without Jason Rullo on drums. Thomas Walling sat in on this album and did a superb job, speaking from a drummer's perspective (I'm a big Neil Peart/Rush and Dream Theater fan, too).
I discovered Symphony X about 5 years ago and they’ve instantly became one of my favorite bands. I’m a sucker for neoclassical stuff but I actually like their latest album, Underworld the best. I think that it’s a perfect mix of the incredibly hard stuff and the classic prog. Hell and Back is a freaking masterpiece. I just wish that they’d release their new album already 😂

I'm 47 and I've never heard of this band before. Adding them on Spotify and a few songs on my MP3 player for work.
Recommend The Odyssey and also Paradise Lost as great starting albums. Can't go wrong with The Divine Wings of Tragedy as well. 👍

The Divine Wings of Tragedy was my first Symphony X song. They're good stuff.
I love Symphony X and Michael Romeo. Seen them 3 times and The Odyssey is my favorite song.

I vaguely remember listening to Symphony X once ages ago, all I remember is the song was from Underworld. It obviously didn't leave a huge impression on me, but these 2 songs sound great. Definitely giving them a second chance!
Underworld was their last major album release (2015, I think) and definitely the most metal of their albums. The album both of these tunes are from, Twilight in Olympus, is from something like 15 years earlier.
Whole heartedly recommend that second chance. They're fantastic.🤘
A few parts of these songs reminded me of parts of Dream Theater songs and that was fun to hear. I'll have to check out this band's later stuff since you said it's more metal.
