I have upgraded my one with a brushless fan motor (150W 25,2V) which is available for 5 bugs only and fits in without any modifications. The vacuum cleaner is now more powerful and less noisy.

@@yogitech-3D good review ... I liked the approach and the specs you gave...very helpful .. when looking into the DCL280 line (brushless motors) ... spotted that there are filters also for DCL180 ... and to save on filters get: a Cyclonic Vacuum Attachment (199553-5)

The thing I don't like about it is the filtration. I know, it's a budget friendly one but even some cheaper ones have at least a Dyson look alike bin similar to the cyclone.

The thing I don’t like is that you cannot block the trigger. Have to pulll all the time. To bad because autonomy so good with 18v battery

I have build in a second small switch in the right place which switches a 24V Relay and a brushless Motor, now its perfect

Mine is less than 2 months old, and has already developed multiple cracks around the nozzle where the extension tube slides in. It has done less than 2 hours of use, spot cleaning around the house. It is very obviously not the correct grade of plastic for this use.
I would not recommend buying one of these as they are not fit for purpose i.m.h.o.

does the on /off switch lock on or has to be pressed while in use?

It does not lock. It needs to be pressed while in use.
