In today's guitar lesson we learn how to play "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" by Bob Dylan. This is a true gem from Dylan's early catalogue both in terms of the guitar part and the entire song itself. This fingerpicking part relies exclusively on the travis picking technique. We break down the pattern note for note which occurs throughout the entire form. We start the lesson with a beginner breakdown of the song form to get you going with a basic strumming pattern before diving into the complexities of the complete part.

Fantastic!!! Brings my back to my high school days in SF. This whole album.
Totally. Such a classic!
Now I know what my next six months will be spent on. Really nice sound. Thank you.
Nice plan. Thanks!
First, let me say your instruction is so pleasing to the ear. So many instructors can be a challenge to listen to for a variety of reasons. Thanks!
at 7:35, you're showing us the second fingerpicking bar, and you say "as you hammer on you hit the 4th string". I believe you meant to say, "you hit the 6th string (low G)" as that is what you actually do a few seconds later, and as the tab shows. Please confirm. Thanks :)
One of my favorites ... Thank you MT ...
Me too! Thanks A J
Good Lesson. Thanks.
This is flat out terrific. I've always found this to be difficult because many play it with no structure, just as you say you used to. And to dig in to a song you've played a long time shows someone always thinking about upping his game. I wish patreon allowed single contributions. That makes sense in many situations but not all. Hold the phone - I see there's a paypal option too. Others, I'm sure you're like me and value the work like this lesson, but never getting around to sharing some of the coin in our pocket. I'm fixing that by committing to putting my money where my mouth is. Let's all do that.
Wow , good explanation , thanks for the tab too , I'll definitely subscribe to see your other lessons , thanks moe
Amazing!
A fav Dylan tune!
Totally, for me too! Hope you and Dana are doing well Miss you guys!
I agree you about arrangement liberties, so many opportunities to add a unique twist with all that fingerpicking. Josh Turner's video on this song has served me very well, but you've highlighted some details that I've been missing! Many thanks!
Cheers, great guitar playing
Thank you
Wonderful!
Thanks!
I’ve been learning the Billy Strings rendition and he does it in F (capo 5th fret) and I thought that was the original key but I’m glad I checked out your version because you’re in C. Plus I just learned so many cool fills and flourishes from this…thanks man. I’m a fairly solid player but I wish I had your voice man. So good. My vocals sound like those goats that faint when they get startled.
He might of had his guitar in Eb tuning which would bring it to C on the 5th
Thank you so much
You're welcome, thanks.
great thank you
Superb.
Thank you!
Nice work and I have never seen a Dashiki sweatshirt before--- until now!
Great Lesson. Now if only you would do a tutorial on your Wooden Ships arrangement. Which is a favorite
This is my favourite song. My husbands a guitar player and I was upset he wouldn’t learn it for me. He said Bob Dylan only did the chords. 😭
Great, Thanks! 🤩 🎸 🎶 🎵 Was thinking would be great if you did this when you had been playing this song on some of the livestreams some time ago. I became a Dylan fan whrn I was a John Lennon fan and read the name Dylan in a Lennon- biography so often that I had to check him out. First album was "oh mercy" 😊
Absolutely, I actually thought of you while editing and thought you may like this! Oh nice, that's an album I haven't listened to much, I'll have to revisit it soon. Hope you're doing well and are not too cold out there! :)
😊 btw in BDs book chronicles he describes when he lost his voice in the 80s and also Bono (U2) motivated him to meet Daniel Lanois so their production turned out to be "oh mercy" ( 💜 man in the long black coat+ most of the time 💙 )
Bravo, super bien joué...peit être un petit peu trop rapide... mais c'est très bien tout de même..!!
Rushed but nice
