In today's guitar lesson we cover all the sections of "Mexico" by James Taylor as well as a chord melody solo I improvised and transcribed. Test and improve your fingerstyle skills along with me in this tab playalong. Enjoy!
Last week I performed a cover of this song and taught the intro:

Best cover I've found... Love the fingerstyle weaved in at the end
Thanks!
Thank you for being the salt of the earth. Folks like you make this world a better place.
I appreciate it a lot, thanks.
Watching this makes me want to cry. I don't think I could ever play like that.
I felt that way about You Can Close Your Eyes and after much much practice, I can play it good enough to sing to. Still not perfect but it will do. Work baby work.
Mr. Finn you’re absolutely right. You have to really dig in deep.
You can definitely do this. Just start by playing a few measures very slowly until you get it and just build from there. I promise it’s easier than you think.
This is great. I like how you put the tab at the top and guitar on the bottom. Sometimes people put the tab on the bottom and it gets blocked by the TH-cam player controls, etc. BTW, what's going on at 1:15? You seem to have skipped that little turn around thingy in the tab.
You are simply great. This was very enjoyable to listen to. Thanks.
Thanks!
James Taylor on the Taylor. Beautifully played!
Awesome song, lesson etc. thank you 😊
Someone has done it! Finally!!! A top tier tutorial for this classic. Bravo sir 👌🏻
Thank you
Absolutely incredible. Thank you so much.
Your execution and rhythm are just unbelievable. Very nice arrangement also. Thank you very much!!!!!❤
Nice work!
Excellent tone and playing
Beautiful! :)
beautiful arrangement Mitch ! I wanna got to Mexico NOW!
Fabulous! I've always had trouble with the timing on the introduction, but thanks to you I can play it now.
That's great to hear! Glad I can help
BRAVO!! Excellent job!
That is genius guitar writing, also!❤
Thanks!
Right on the money, bro! Excellent. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you!
Nice,this is really good
your very first measure seems to be different than tab? I don't see why your third finger crosses over to play 2 nd fret when it shows open in the tab??
No, the performance and tab are both accurate and in sync with each other. My third finger crosses over the second fret for the A chord which is marked in the first measure of the tab as well. Go ahead and pause it right when my finger crosses to that second fret and you’ll see it lines up with the tab. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I didn't see any comments about it, or maybe I missed it, but what make and model is your guitar? It sounds great!
I believe it is a Taylor, judging by the pick guard.
Taylor 714ce :)
