  • I was finding it difficult to find an exact walkthrough for what I needed so I decided to make my own. Hopefully this helps everyone and if you have any questions just let me know! This is on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 without Bose.

      You can make it work Without the interface you would just have to run your power wire from the radio to the far left 10A fuse on your dash fuse panel directly below the big fuse blocks ( or another ignition hot source)

    You need the interface because the factory radio amplifies ALL chimes, like the door chimes and all of your dummy light alarms, like ABS and other alarms. It also overrides all security from your factory radio. FYI, your factory radio CANNOT be installed in another Silverado 2500 even with the same setup. It is programed to your VIN Number

      Yep. Chevy's dumb data module isn't need since the headlights are auto. I just shoved a wire into the 4x4 fuse slot and ran it under the steering column to the harness. Wish Crutchfield would explain that with a $60 install kit

    Or you could run a wire to a fuse splitter and just put it on your ignition fuse spot and every time you turn the ignition on and off it’ll do the same lol I’ve done that 6 bucks vs what 60? Might be a option it works just fine

    • @_DeathBySpeed_
      @_DeathBySpeed_  ปีที่แล้ว

      The casing or the screen? The casing on some radios does get pretty hot, warmer than you'd expect. I've found on cheaper radios that tends to be the case. Just like an amplifier when it's being pushed.

      Did you wire in the Interface as well? The only wires I didn't use were back up camera related. Otherwise I'm pretty sure I used them all. However if you do not wire the Interface in you will get no power. I tried a standard harness and got no power but tried again with the interface and everything worked as it should.

      The only thing I can think is miswiring. Maybe your illumination wire was wired into the wrong spot? It sounds like the radio is getting power but the illumination isn't getting the proper stable supply. I would double check the wiring, mine came with a Diagram explaining each Individual wires purpose. Cross reference that with your wiring and go from there. :)

    If you really wanted to splice into stock harness it wouldn’t be that hard. Just need to find power that’s on all time. The remote power and ground. Then just wire the speakers. But $40 for interface isn’t bad. Other brands want $100-120 for one

    • @_DeathBySpeed_
      @_DeathBySpeed_  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually just go straight into factory wiring and don't bother with a harness but as cheap as the harnesses are now a days I just go with them. This interface was the first one I've had to purchase so that's the only reason it seemed pricey.

      Really well actually. Not having any brightness issues, the picture is a lot better than I anticipated. It powers the speakers I put in just fine and clearly. I hooked a game cube up in my truck just for fun and it's managing well. The remote with this model is really nice as well, comfortable feel and good response. I got this on sale for no more than $60 and I am beyond satisfied with the product. It's not hyper tunable like some Pioneer stuff I've used but it for sure gets the job done in its price bracket. Also having movies playing for passengers on road trips is nice, or letting them play a game.
