Nice video! I spent a week in Abu Dhabi and a week in Dubai. I’ve never felt more at peace than while in Abu Dhabi. I felt so safe and all of my anxiety left as soon as I got there. Both are extremely beautiful places.

Felicitari, Alex!!! It’s indeed a big sacrifice that you made to achieve your goals by living away from the most important people in the world- your family. I can imagine how super proud they must be of you and your accomplishments 😊

Abu Dhabi is my hometown and it is way better than Dubai! I'm not a big fan of Dubai, been there, too busy, same like Beijing and Shanghai. I always visit Abu Dhabi every year while I was growing up and educated in the UK. My plan was to move to Abu Dhabi and settle there for good, but I somehow ended up living and working in China for nearly 4 years after a friend of mine offered me a job to work in China. The last time I visit Abu Dhabi was 2 years ago, and returned back to China before China closed its borders, never left since then. Can't wait to visit Abu Dhabi once China border opens.

Hey there colleague! 😊I used to be Etihad crew too😊 I was living in Electra street Hyundai Building and my favourite place for drink and dinner was Captains arms next to the mall. Abu Dhabi is amazing! I guess it has developed even more since I left. I’m glad that you enjoyed it! And thanks for sharing your point of view.

Salaam Alexander. I lived in Abu Dhabi in 2000-2002 near the Madrasa Pakistani and from what I can see on Google Earth, a lot has changed in the city. Even though speed cameras were a thing, drivers still sped like crazy, slammed on the brakes before the space where they knew cameras sat, and then sped off again. There was no concept of giving space to brake and people would make turns from the middle lane without signaling. I literally prayed that if I was ever in an accident, I would either get up and walk away, or die instantly, since at the time, the stories were that as a woman, nobody would touch me until I arrived to the hospital. I saw an SUV literally fly through an intersection - all four wheels in the air. My first apartment was on a corner with a curved road and it was a daily occurrence to hear the screeching of tires when they rounded the corner too fast and needed to stop at the intersection. Sometimes there was a crash too.
I also never worried about personal security, although I did keep an eye out because I am American. The worst that happened was a boy on a bike spit at me. I dressed modestly and still, expatriate laborers would follow me around stores. I had a script ready when my American friendliness was mistaken for an invitation to solicit me as a prostitute.
The best part was cutting to the front of the line at banks and the post office. I felt SO RUDE doing it the first time, but seeing how it was expected, it eased my guilt. I LOVED shopping because the malls were open very late (compared to American malls).
Even though it is usually a dry heat, when the wind blows off the gulf, it is miserable. I think the air conditioners in cars are boosted somehow, because they could cool a car down FAST. My apartment didn't have heat and I couldn't find a space heater anywhere, so when it started dropping below 18 degrees Celsius, I bought a jacket and blankets.
In the end, I never got over the culture shock, although my time there broadened my horizons. The adhan is still really beautiful to me. The Emiratis approach life and business a little differently than Americans, and really appreciate any effort to learn their language.

Hey Alex! Understanding that cabin crew with Etihad is your first aviation job, what made you choose Etihad over Emirates or Qatar? I've flown for an Indian low-cost carrier, namely GoAir (now Go First) for two years. I'm 21 of age at the moment and would most certainly love an opportunity with one of the big leagues. Would love to hear back from you on this. Thanks.

Is waterfront housing as expensive as Dubai in Abu Dhabi?

    • @AlexanderGeorge

Yes it is. Rent in some areas can be even more expensive in Abu Dhabi, because Dubai has many more accommodation units.

i live in Abudhabi and this is exactly how i feel about abudhabi and dubai, i love abudhabi. Also i am not suprised why so many britsh and english peopl come here, theyre just sick and tired of all the taxes and the decreasing living standard in the Uk. Uk is still pretty good not gonna lie but its declining ask any british citizen he would agree thats why there are like 120,000 british citizens in the UAE.
