    Been here in the UAE since 2008 (british expat) what I can say is it's not as cheap to live here than it use to be... for me it's soon time to head back as can't wait to be back with the extended family, money just can't fill that void.

      Of course you’re gonna say that when moving back. All those years you didn’t think of family cos money was more important. Now that you’ve had enough you play the family card.

    Welcome to the UAE!
    Not British but I moved from the UK to Dubai so can relate to a lot of your experience. There's lots of great things, but the most fantastic aspect of Dubai is the sheer variety of (halal) food and the safety especially as a Muslim.
    I've always loved your content but found it more UK-centric, hopefully we'll see more UAE content with you here!

      @AbdulRahmanNoor ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hbfurniture3765 hi there,
      There's literally thousands of WhatsApp groups but most of them are likely irrelevant to you as they're based on location, community or any common factor. Your best bet of you're here already is to get in touch with the neighborhood rather than online. Hope it helps!

      Wsalam
      As a normal grocery shopper and not being an avid restaurant goer or person who spend on extravagance is UAE as expensive as they say it is?

    • @MohamedAjmal1985
      @MohamedAjmal1985 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@solomonkzarka4045 No it is not. The best part about Dubai/Abu Dhabi is that you can live on 200 AED a month for food (i know ppl who do this) or 2,000 AED a month or even 10,000 AED a month.
      Personally, when my family of 3 members were here in Dubai, my expenses on grocery & food was around 3,000 AED a month.

    • @azizkhan9154
      @azizkhan9154 ปีที่แล้ว

      Salaam brother.
      Would this video be similar to moving to Abu Dhabi? E.g. the paperwork, costs etc.

    • @MohamedAjmal1985
      @MohamedAjmal1985 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@azizkhan9154 w/salaam brother. The cost of applying Emirates ID is the same all over UAE. Deposit for Electricity would vary depending on the emirate. The biggest cost that you need to pin down before a move is the cost of your visa - as in, if you are setting up a business / getting a freelancer visa etc. The cheapest is getting a job here as that would mean your employer absorbs most of the visa costs. Does that answer your question?

    • @solomonkzarka4045
      @solomonkzarka4045 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jzakallah for the assistance
      How about contracts where accommodation and utilities are already included from the employer is this true or just over selling.
      For example many say teachers going there that even rent and electricity they don't pay.

  • @hmHM-mq2ft
    @hmHM-mq2ft 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    You need around £10k to start. Lots of set up costs. You have to pay for any paperwork you need. School costs and transportation are very high. My advice is do your calculations first. You may find a small difference in your tax free salary compared to your UK salary. School starts at 7:30. Very early and exhausting for kids. The weather from April to Oct is unbearable, reaching anywhere between 37-45 Celsius

    An unwritten rule you will realise soon is that as a British / Western expat you automatically qualify as "rich" and therefore incur higher costs in general. Upscale neighbourhoods with organic grocers and posh UK curriculum schools aside, if you only speak English (as opposed to as a second language in addition to Hindi/Urdu/Malayalam/Tagalog/Arabic) you tend to get tourist rates and miss out on insider deals in local shops and "normal" places outside of malls.

      Placements are harder to get in the really top rated ones but there are plenty of decent options where placements are possible, Dubai is used to incoming and outgoing families so schools are super open in accommodating as soon as they can. High rated private British/American/IB schools will cost anywhere between 50-90k Aed per anum depending on grade and school

      School fees is generally a bigger concern for most Vs admission availability
