It looks like the small one could contact the belt under the right conditions! See 7:30 of the video. Great content!
That sharp 90 on the new intake won't flow as well as the gradual sweep on the original part. If you combine the original part with the cone it may be the combo you want. Extend as necessary to connect it all up.

The factory air duct from the air cleaner to the throttle body is superior to that aftermarket one. Install the factory duct with the aftermarket air filter and shielding... of course you will need to extend it like you did with the aftermarket.
I would check the fuel trims after installing that intake. The pipe diameter looks quite different which means the MAF calibration would need to be modified.
The ECU has a range of adjustment that it will compensate. It's not that much different that it would put it outside of the limits of the ECUs correction abilities. They are very adaptive. They have to be. Cars are driven in all kinds of conditions, temperatures, quality of fuel , load... want me to keep going? The ECU is fine. With all the extra air the supercharger is shoving in there now that piping increase is nothing.

@@derekgardin1512 Yes, the ECU has some ability to adjust various outputs based on changing inputs, but they rarely haven’t the ability to adjust for major hardware changes. I put a “cold air” airaid intake on my 2007 Avalanche. After 8-9 months I put the stock air box on with a k&n air filter and left the airaid tube on in place of the factory intake tube. Took it for a drive and noticed no performance difference at all. Did a 0-60 with my phone with both setups and there was less than a second difference in time between the two. Also, k&n air filters and a very good product, the people that have problems with them are the ones who over oil them. If you put the proper amount of oil on them you won’t have any issues. I’ve had them on multiple vehicles and multiple motorcycles and never had any issues at all.
Me either. I also take my MAF out once or twice a year and spray it with a shot of MAF cleaner. Never had an issue with one or had one fail what I would chalk up to as prematurely.

Here is a tip to get the best of both worlds of factory intake & open pod and save the 300 bucks. The factory airbox is better for initial liftoff from a stop. You could flip the upper portion of the intake to whichever direction the filter will face to minimise risk of falling off or sucking water.

I have an 02 GM sierra and I’ve had a K/N filter since day one still has the original mass airflow sensor 145,000 miles. I took it out and cleaned it once seven years ago. It was working fine I just saw a video about cleaning a mass airflow sensor and bought a can from Auto Zone and did it
I would port the airbox (aka add holes or cut out sections). Obviously do this on the cold side to allow all the air in as possible. Will help with sound as well
You've got to modify that Magnuson tube to fit. It looked like it may be a larger diameter, which will impact your tune if you switched to a smaller one. Plus it has a much better design for airflow. That CAI tube was designed to have much less air through it than the Magnuson one. I think that's what is impacting your 0-60 times. Don't go back to the stock airbox though. The induction noise from a good CAI is worth whatever modifications you end up having to make.
You and your wife are hilarious together! Every time my wife drives our NB Miata with a voodoo2 turbo she never drives it hard enough to get heat in the cat and comes back with an engine code for catalyst inefficiency. I had her punch it in second and she said “that’s too much” at about 4,500rpm an let off.
I suggest another 0-60 test with the Magneson intake, K&N filter, and factory airbox using longer screws and some spacers to force the box to stay open similar to the higher dyno run. Be the best of all worlds??
Larger intake tube and/or turbulence could be throwing the MAF readings off a little. I just went through this in my Mustang, ended up installing an "air straightener" before it. It's just a honeycomb piece of sheet metal that gets rid of the turbulent air. A lot of factory systems have a screen to do the same thing.
This was a GREAT video. I love how your wife gets a kick out of the stuff you are interested in. …and I feel like she loves the Escalade performing so much better now. I cannot wait to see all of this at the track!!

I love the way her eyes go wide when the truck accelerates. She's fun to watch! If I'm honest though, I'd bet she just wants to drive the thing normally. Not a gearhead.
The cone filters have been losing ground against a well designed airbox, what you want is to remove all plastic from the intake manifold , the bigger throttle body , and possibly wrap it in heat reflective wool to make sure it doesn't heatsoak. Then you'll have a good system.
Your wife's face is priceless! Her eyes got as big as saucers, truly a fantastic reaction video.....good job. 4.98s is a great 0-60 for that heavy vehicle, and I'd keep the CAI AND do the throttle body, but I am a sound guy, I like to hear the whine.

Honestly this is so cool. I think having your wife on the channel is so awesome! She’s beautiful so that helps. Ya lucky man! Her terror and awe doing the 0-60s was great fun to watch. I think I can safely say we all laughed and clapped at her beating your time. Thanks for being a good sport Mrs. P! I also think it’s super cool when your kids help. So adorable! Anyways this was awesome! Inspired me to look into getting an Escalade haha
Yall have so much fun together....keep blessing the world!!👏🏽
I just purchased a 2018 ESV with 42k miles black on black, I love it, it's quieter than my 2011 was, I'm thinking of a Corsa performance exhaust
I had the exact same issue on my '16 CTS-V. Turned out to be the thermostat + coolant temperature sensor. Like you said - very common issue on these cars/engines.
Pretty bad when GM can't get a simple sensor for temperature right.
@@derekgardin1512 Very cheap and easy to fix. Flawless otherwise.
Excellent video as usual. Love that your wife was willing to brake boost the truck. That was awesome!! One of the few TH-camrs I can look at the video from start to finish. Cheers!
You are a very lucky guy to have found a wonderful woman like that.
I like the look on your wife's face on the second run. She's hooked. Respect.
I love the fact you don't tag your videos "HOW TO DIAGNOSE CADILLAC COOLANT ISSUE", yet you show us the steps you take.
Appreciate your attention to deal.
The look on your wife’s face is priceless! Fear and enjoyment in one.
Nice, that's what I always wanted.
Your wife is hilarious Alex.
You have a keeper which I'm sure you already know that but she is great. Also can we see her in some of your other cars so she can show you how to launch them as well.
Great content, keep up the good work. I'm happy to see your channel doing well and that you decided to go full time. I always look forward to Saturday morning LSC uploads. Thank you.
Her launch was perfect
Congrats Alex on making Yahoo front page 👏🏼
SHES READY FOR THE TRACK , YOU TWO ARE GREAT KEEP UP THE FUN
That's so cool that you bring your family to the channel.
I love the videos of you with your wife talking about cars and that ‘I know YOU want a throttle body’ line sounds exactly like my girlfriend when I want to do something to one of our cars that she couldn’t care less about. Your wife needs to do her own channel for advice on how to live with a car guy! LegitWifeyCars!
Will help with sound as well
I like the cold air intake. I think that it completes the look. And really like the blue hose as well 💙
They suck. Really junk kids love now adays
Love this. I can guarantee you're not the only Alex who are excited to tell their wife stuff and get that same reaction!
Your wife represents every wife of a “guy who works on his on own car” in this video 😂😜👍
Your wife roasting you about the thermostat that "she always wanted" made me legit LOL. Haha, great video man, keep it up!
Dude! More videos with your wife-you two together are great video! She is a real natural in front of the camera
Mrs Legit is such a keeper, great video with such positivity :) love you guys!
Your wife is so cool. Even if she doesn't really care, still willing to humor you and found some fun in it
I put a plate under my specter kit in my 2012 vortec max silverado. It made a world of difference in intake temps and performance
This was a GREAT video. I love how your wife gets a kick out of the stuff you are interested in. …and I feel like she loves the Escalade performing so much better now. I cannot wait to see all of this at the track!!
My thermostat went out on my escalade too. It’s so random but easy fix. And that’s dope that your wife was able to beat your time on her first try learning to launch. She’s great, give her truck back lol
A k&n filter has been in my cruze for years no issues. I probably should clean it now and then . Lol.
Haven't cleaned it in 4 years.
Good work / don't break the transmission.
Be safe team
She was killin it! and making hilarious expressions along the way haha! Good job
Haha her eyes widened and her muscles tensed when doing the run😅 hats off to you for sharing our passion for automotive enthusiasm
Thats so Awesome!!! Your wife's face during the launch was priceless.
Alex, you have to include your wife in more videos ! Shes a natural ! I loved her response " just what I always wanted" 😂🤣😂
I don't think the woman cares much about the speed of her truck. I really think she just wants a car to take the kids to and from school. but her reaction to the speed she looks impressed and a little scared 😄
Okay, it’s official this guy has the coolest wife this side of the sun. Lovely couple. Here’s to forever and a day for you two.
Awesome having your wife test drive her truck👍👍
Best answer from your wife ever to hear!! OHH THATS THE ONE I ALWAYS WANTED!! LOVED THE VIDEO ALEX!!👍🏾👍🏾
Return the cold air intake, get the 104 TB and investigate opening up the exhaust. Hopefully your wife catches the bug.
*Wifey hasn't been having the best luck with cars at the moment congrats on this beauty* 🔥
Everyone is going insane over the gas prices, meanwhile you're out doing this.. Love it.
