- The refreshed G70 is here and Genesis is taking this sedan to the next level. On the outside you will discover an all new front fascia, grill, side vents, rear bumper, lights and wheels. On the inside there is an all new infotainment system, materials, and surfaces. Under the hood is a 3.3L twin-turbo V6 that now produces 365HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Can the G70 compete with the BMW M340i, Audi S4, Cadillac CT5-V etc.... Is the NEW 2022 Genesis G70 a sport sedan worth the price?

This absolutely one of the sexiest weirdest looking cars ever seen. It’s looks like a mini Bentley Bentayga mixed with a Alpha Romeo Giulia,But for a whole lot cheaper and way more practical,reliable just looks amazing!!

Bentley is very reliable look it up. A high line Mercedes cost more in maintenance due to breaking down more bit Bentley parts are more expensive but break down less
I wouldnt call any of these reliable just yet. Give it atleast 5-10 years. Hyundais were cheaply built in the 2000s. It looks good new like all cars but itll take time for Genesis to establish itself.
I love their new design language with those split head and tail lights! Fresh, classy, and distinct!

FYI, nothing fresh here - Genesis are copying the split headlight look from Volvo, who's had it as a key design element on their cars since 2015. The unfortunate looking grille looks like the older silly Mazda smile, but on steroids to its detriment. The prior generation G70 was better looking. Having a giant cartoonish grille just to be unique perhaps to also mimic the design of the company badge is a bit misguided. Good cars, design team still in their apprenticeship program.
@@petejr7583 Got remember Genesis hire former Audi/Bentley designer, BMW M department, Infiniti designer so got little influences in their designs. It the reason KIA/Hyundai cars improve after 2011 model year

I worked at Hyundai when the first G70 were coming out and right away fell in love with it . I knew the brand was going to do great things with this model!!!
As good as this car looks in the day, it looks even sexier when the sun sets. The signature twin bar head and tail lights really complement the design language of the G70.
I've been keeping my eye on the Genesis for years and very pleased with the upgrades!! I love the styling, such a sexy car. Officially ordered and I can't wait for mine to arrive. Thanks for the awesome review.
How are they going to give us those excellent full digital gauges on Hyundai’s and other less expensive vehicles in their lineup but the Genesis gets that half assed digital/analog split set up??
Cause I think they only wanted the g80 to have it to separate the cars even more.

It’s just a refresh, the full redesign will get the new 3D gauge cluster. Some 2021 model do actually get the digital cluster but not sure why genesis didn’t add it to this new refresh…
there was a silicon shortage so manufacturers had to cut corners on random things

The grille shape kinda reminds me of the Superman logo. Kinda matches the shield in the Genesis badge too, but now that I'm thinking of Superman it's all I can see.

I've had mine for a couple months now. Not sure why a lot of reviewers fail to mention launch mode. The car drops about 2 inches to be more aerodynamic. This is a serious fast car. Also the seat hugs you nice and tight when in sport mode. Sport mode will eat your entire tank of gas!

I agree. Mid 4 sec 0-60 mph times and high 12 sec 1/4 mile times! I mean more power would be awesome but as is, definitely great performance numbers! I know I’m enjoying mine-2023 g70 3.3t RWD with sport prestige and advance packages! 🔥👍🏼

That's one of the better infotainment, agreed that one looks like it's not just bolted on! That car is sweet and different, loving the interior! Weird that we can't get Genesis in the UK!

Nice review, Joe. I have been a fan of Genesis since they first hit the market. Nice design, power, luxury. It’s missing an exhaust sound and a manual transmission. And let’s get the 400 HP.

Great review! I’ve got a 2019 G70 sport and have absolutely LOVED it! Seriously looking at the 2022. Hope they’ve kept the digital speedometer and heads up display.

To bad they didn’t have the sports prestige model. Way different look on interior and more bells and whistles as well. Just picked one up but has to travel out of state to get it. Love this car!!

Priced better than the Stinger. Still put you back in the seat. How much HP do you need at speed limit of 70 MPH. Good review.
Nice review. I too like the exterior design , not surprising, as Hyundai hired top technical folks from Audi and BMW to head up their exterior design and Performance teams.
Only thing is, Hyundai like Acura, Lexus and Infiniti in the past, will have to work really hard to get the stigma off their Genesis Brand being an Economy label made into a luxury division.

450 is about the perfect #. Hope they keep the msrp around $50k though or less.

Nice job as always, Joe and Lori. This may convince me to go with the '22 rather than a '21 G-70. I think lighter colors work better with this new styling and your emphasis on the new sport plus mode brings out the sports character of this car. I'm still going to check out the 2.0 engine when it becomes available for '22 and look forward to review of that when it happens. Thanks for the great review!

Plus for the first owner it comes with a 10 years/100,000 miles Powertrain Warranty. Genesis G70 is a great deal if you are willing to look past the badge.
Test drove the 2021 car today. Killer drive and fast. 2022 is better for almost the same price is a great buy for me.

This G70 refresh is simply, amazing. If my Bronco order (currently slated for production on 6/28 with a VIN) gets pushed back to fall, I might cancel and go with this.

Thanks for the video and let me tell you. Yesterday 10/11 my wife and I took her 2020 Palisade Limited with 15,000 miles that has had the white Nappa leather smell since we bought it in July 20 to the dealer for regular service. There was a blue 2022 G70 in the showroom with the 3.3 Turbo and it caught her eye and she usually gets what she wants. I jokingly said have them pull it out and drive it. I went to the restroom and when I came out they were pulling it out of the showroom. We drove it and since Palisades are in short supply they made us an amazing deal almost too good of a deal. She liked it but was still undecided so they said take it for the night and we live an hour away. We did give it a good test drive and man is it FAST and I mean FAST and very nice. Actually rides and drives/handles great and is quiet. I am 70 and my wife just turned 47 couple days ago and she said when I punched it I giggled and I don’t giggle. Threes reasons didn’t buy it which really had nothing to do with the G70. One she really likes her Palisade and they have ordered new headrests to eliminate the smell, two our 15 year old daughter not much room in the back, three my mother who is 87 and not much room in the back plus I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado RST black Midnight Edition and although my mom gets around really good would be difficult for her to get in and out the truck due to the height. MAN DID I HATE TO TAKE THE G70 BACK TODAY BUT HAD SO MUCH FUN DOING IT!!! It was the right decision in our case but I sure would recommend this to anyone and I have always like the Stinger but like the G70 so much more. Oh and they look expensive and aren’t.

Now, I am a man of modest means, but my buddy has a '21 twin turbo G70and he let me drive/ launch it and by golly, that was the quickest car I've ever driven
I would probably go with one of the other competitors, BMW, Cadillac. Just by looking at this car is a Zonk for me. Definitely not feeling that heart shaped grille. Shout out to your camera lady, good review.
This car is a neck breaker a lot of people will think it’s some Bentley. I test drove one and saw people slowing down to look at it lmfao felt like I’m in a super car 😂

@@guccicheez9317 it’s a Genesis lol u wouldn’t Lexus a Toyota. Not a single car that price can break necks like this and it feels premium inside. Like an audi, they hired Audi engineers and designers to make the interior, it’s nice and a bit old school I love it.

SHEESH. It takes close to 70-80K to get cooled seats in the 340i. This is EASILY the car to buy in this segment. Only thing it needs is an aftermarket exhaust

Just bought one of these in the sport prestige trim and I love it.
Great review as always Joe. However, you got a couple of things wrong in the video. You said it has more power than the 2021 model. It actually doesn’t. It is rated at 365 horsepower just like all of the previous G70 V6 models in the US. Only the overseas versions were rated at the 3 hp greater 368 number.
If you check the window sticker it even says 365 hp just like it has in previous years.
Also, I don’t think it has Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires. I believe those are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. There actually are some significant differences in those two tires even though they sound similar in name.
I don’t think your 4.3 0-60 mph estimation will be accurate either. Performance wise this car will perform exactly like previous G70 versions. It will sound slightly different because of the new exhaust but it doesn’t actually improve performance at all. Even the new Sport+ mode is little more than a gimmick. It does the same thing that any pedal commander or the like will do. It just makes the pedal feel more responsive even though the car isn’t really any faster.
I’ve heard from a few Stinger owners that the 2022 model felt quicker than the early models. I don’t doubt that the G70 is faster despite no changes in claimed power ratings.
@@Cgee3 the US 2022 Stinger actually claims that it has 3 more horsepower than previous versions. The 2022 US Genesis G70 does not claim it has any more power.
@@LearningFast Car and Driver and Motortrend both state that available dual mode exhaust makes 3 more horsepower when the valve is open.
@@Cgee3 the Window Sticker and the spec sheet on their website literally say 365 hp which is the same that it has always been.
The white and black colour combo looks really really good in this G70.
They should bring back the genesis coupe

One thing i feel isnt appreciated enough is how different this car feels drom eco to sport + its a night and day difference between the drive modes whkce really allows this car to feel super luxurious in comfort mode and how super sporty it feels in the sport and sport+ mode. Its like a completely different car. Plus its not a very big car so the power really throws the car around nicely and i feel Genesis under rated this at 365 it feels a little faster than that. Im with you though 400 is the magic number for a car this size. A simple JB4 tune can make that happen. Great review and great car

It doesnt in the u.s? Thats crazy, in canada we only have two trims with the 3.3tt, the prestige and the sport. Both have brembos
Very nice only complaint is analogue gauges, I understand some like them at least have a digital option. Nothing beats the Audi virtual cockpit.

Happy to see that they improved the center display without going with the 36 inch digital dash that others are going with. I will likely be buying one before the next generation comes out. That one would likely have the excessive digital dash.

I love this refresh styling - Home run for Genesis. Now as I'm watching, I'm waiting to see if the backseat area is any different roominess wise from the previous one. I say that because I sat in the rear and found it tight-ish especially trying to put my feet under the front seat. And I'm only 5'7". Otherwise, it's beautiful and making waves in the segment.
I had a chance to drive one. It is very very tight in the back. Getting your feet under the seats is a task
