- The G80 has been raised to a NEW level by Genesis with this 2022 Sport Prestige trim. The biggest change is REAR WHEEL STEERING that allows this BMW to corner like never before. On the outside you will find a new matte white paint finish, new wheels, and lighting. On the inside there is a ton of leather, carbon fiber and technology. Under the hood is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 375HP and now has AWD as standard. Is the NEW 2022 Genesis G80 a BETTER sport luxury sedan than a BMW 540i?

Genesis is killing it right now. Every model is stunning
Except for the gv70 the rear of that is so hideous(ugly)
Not hideous, I’ve seen worse. The exhaust is a little weird but it’s still sleek
Lexus shits on all of them. Toyota is a close second.
Why does anyone drive anything other than toyota/lexus or atleast honda/acura it makes no sense to me.

I'd take a G80 over a 5 Series just by the design alone. It has such a unique presence. I know that Genesis isn't as established as BMW, but since it's the luxury brand of Hyundai, they were able to get a headstart when it came to technology and the quality is glorious in my opinion.

More reliable--sub 100 dollar oil changes--world class AWD system--and if you use premium fuel that 3.5TT is a very good engine.I owned a stinger for over a year and impressed by this group of companies.
@@khronin Yeah it's so good that it uses more fuel than the Germans for less performance in the case of the E450.

@@Mano_421 Thats half what KIA genesis are--like I said--have BMW walk the walk--that is why I 'walked" on buying an X6M 2 years ago--BTW--the BMW is not bumper to bumper--read the fine print that is 2 pages long--they do not cover all sorts of things==especially all the plastics that go bad causing other major problems.
I was never a big fan of carbon fiber I am more of a wood grain guy, but the way Genesis did it in the G80 sport is jaw dropping. I love the way it looks. A very beautiful car.

If I had wanted a sedan the G80 Sport Prestige was a strong finalist, beautiful inside and out. But I wanted an SUV and bought a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, and I love it after 2000 miles. Point being, Genesis has really developed a STRONG product line, with EV's around the corner. Owned Germans and Jags in the past, the badges are overpriced, and reliability/warranty not as good, Genesis is a serious player.

I own its baby brother, a ‘22 G70. Absolutely love it (and chose it over a BMW and Acura TLX Type-S). If anyone is “concerned” about the badge, don’t be. It’s literally gets compliments everywhere I go.

I have 2020 G70 3.3L AWD Prestige.
3 times made from Florida to NYC and back
Stuck in Virginia on January 4 snow storm for 12 hrs.
AWD helped me a lot.
Specially in Washington, DC when I needed to change a highway.
I don't know I could make a ramp incline without 4 wheels drive.
So far 25K miles now problems.
I really enjoy driving this car.
It was one minor issue with the hood latch.
Fixed by warranty.
But I don't satisfied with Genesis of West Palm Beach service.
As almost all owners, I think that Genesis should be separated from Hyundai.

I just picked up a 2022 G80 off the showroom floor in Seville Silver w/Red interior on 10/28/22, saved a ton of $ considering the 2023 are out . I looked at all the competitors and for me at 61yrs old the combination of V-6 twin turbo power, luxury and low maintenance versus the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce Edition I had with the 4 cylinder engine was a no brainer. Keep up the GREAT work Joe & Lorie. Love your channel
Hope Genesis make the coupe version love to see one luxury version and the sport carbon fiber package that would be great and V6 twin turbo at least 400hp to be humble.

Genesis is absolutely killing it with these designs. Everything is stunning. That carbon fiber is super unique, I love it.
Those are the best looking wheels on any mid size sedan and even coupe across the board.

I'd buy this over the BMW. It cost same price + a luxury sedan worth all the amenities remember that back in 2009 with Hyundai Genesis seen this model few months back a nice car. I've fallen in love with the Genesis definitely better than BMW better warranty and cheap maintenance know the car is expensive would enjoy this more. Genesis became its on brand in 2015 can remember this brand is better than German brands such a gorgeous car give the money buy the G80 tomorrow over the BMW 5 Series.
One sexy sedan IMO but the finance guy in me says wait a year or two for depreciation to hit and then buy it. Keep up the great work Joe!
I've had BMWs. The '90s models really felt like "the ultimate driving machine", but BMW has lost it since. The company has also become less reliable with its cheapened parts. I think the only thing keeping BMW alive is the M-series and the SUVs. The sedans look kinda mundane next to the new models of Lexus, Genesis, and even Mercedes, in my opinion. The oversized kidney-grill design on the new BMWs look ridiculous, too. I'm done with BMWs. They're moneypits, any way.
My wife is still driving around in her 7-year-old Genesis, and no BMW that we've owned (and we've owned four of them over the years) has been nearly as reliable as the Genesis.
Back in 2015 the Genesis sedan was Hyundai's greatest attempt to establish the brand, so they went above and beyond with those cars. Those car are so well put together, I'm seeing them on a road aging almost just as great as a Lexus/Toyota. The level of craftsmanship is truly appreciated it when you find them with 200k km or more and still looking like new.
Genesis is improving year after year with looks, reliability and creature comforts. They out match everyone with the 100k warranty. I am definitely taken one for a test drive. Status is not a problem for me when it comes to reliability. I keep my cares when I make a purchase. I have an almost flawless 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with 150K miles that can still outrun many cars of today.
Owned a G80 2017 (3.5 V6 model) before and now a GV80 3.5T, man Genesis is on to something. Comparable BMW / Mercs were at least 20% more expensive and total cost of ownership / maintenance was also higher. Super happy with this brand.

The g80 is sexy inside and out and these cars will turn heads on the road. Genesis is making a lot of noise the Germans got some serious competition on their hands

Wow..this vehicle has a lot of unique design elements, for example, those amazing REAR sports seats and rear wheel steering. Makes the $72k seem like a real value as compared to the German competition.

Really nice! I still like the look of my 2018 sport AWD better but will definitely consider this in a couple more years when depreciation on it hits.
The 2022 G70 and G80 are lovely options for sedan lovers... great prices in the U.S for buyers.

Hyundai and Kia are killing it across their lineups lately in terms of performance and design. The G80 is no longer the value proposition it once was. At 50-55K it would be a very compelling option. Since it doesn't have the prestige or status of the German brands it has to win on value.

Another great spot on review! Executive looks with sportiness. Good symmetrical design with curves that can break necks! Materials fit and finish looks spot on! I wonder if its enough for some one coming from driving High end German cars to a Genesis!? I differently see people coming from Japanese brand like Infiniti buying Genesis!

Yep she is sexy I only wish on the Sport trim Genesis would have tuned the motor up to 400hp to 425hp. But apart from that she is gorgeous. As a fan of the brand I would personally own the 2022 Genesis G80 sport option with the black paint and red interior on the prestige option. See you on the next one

If you do not care about the badge or you’ve never driven a 540i never mind the bmw m5 then this is a great absolutely phenomenal alternative. Great looking car. It’s gonna be hard for any new and upcoming luxury brand to steer away long time customers from the Germans. But genesis is really coming aggressively

That’s one beautiful car. Genesis has really been knocking the styling and technology out of the park. My only complaint would be that hefty price tag. 72k takes this out of the value range that genesis used to be in.

This is a beautiful car. I'm currently driving a Volvo S90, which is a great car as well. But I will definitely be looking at the G80 when it's time for something new.

Ambient lighting is there but even at highest setting is a bit underwhelming. Many colors but single tone not multi tone like e class.

The infotainment screen seems to be a little far away from the hand while you are well seated but apart from that everything looks great.

Oh, I completely agree with how cool that 4-wheel steering is a definite plus! There are so many attractive elements with this beautiful sedan that if I were not so wedded to my Lexus ES, this sedan would be on my shortlist as an alternative. Joe, does that infotainment screen also allow for an ejection seat for the occasional moronic passenger?! 😉 Wow! However, I really love this car!👍

I love my 2019 G80 Sport (Himalayan Gray), words can hardly explain it. Added an aftermarket roof spoiler & a trunk lid spoiler. Don’t know if I’ll ever get rid of it.

Anyway the Genesis G80 is like the Mercedes-Benz E class from Korea, but more reliable and cheaper.
So the Genesis G80 is Genesis mid-size sedan which have beautiful styling and surprisingly 300hp for a starting price of 48k (most competitors starts around 55k), but this particular top spec model have around 375hp, awd, 360 camera, and that Hyundai/Kia warranty (10 years or 100k miles) for 63k, i know it's not cheap but luxury is never cheap.
So after all i'm a Genesis fanboy so i'm obviously going to say it's an alright vehicle with styling and tech.
Anyway if you had to choose a mid-size sedan what would it be “the germans” like the Mercedes AMG E63 S, Mercedes AMG CLS53, Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E, BMW M5/ Bmw M5 CS, Audi S6, Audi RS7, the Porsche Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid or the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
Or Americans like the Tesla Model S Plaid, the Cadillac CT5-V blackwing or the CT4-V blackwing, the Dodge Charger SRT hellcat wide body or ect. …
(sorry that i haven't made a comment in so long time, anyway i still watch the reviews and Joe was really happy with the review yesterday about the Lexus LC and i agreed with alot of things that he said in the video. Also like always on throttle)
