Do you have a detailed help manual for configuring speakers. My soundbars which I got from BestBuy Toronto didn't even have the sticker on the sound bar snd just had 1 page quick setup
Excellent review. Picked this system up a month ago, love it. It's not as good with the mids as my Kef system. But the S990c is such a great and easy to use system. ITs an extremely fun system and just works easily. Highly recommend.
I just got one today locally for around $230 usd, a guy was selling it at that price because it has some heavy cosmetic damage, I have no idea where he got it from or how it got damaged because it looks new and works perfectly fine. At least I cannot tell if the quality of the audio was affected, still sounds like a beast. I think it was a good deal regardless.
I too have the HW-Q990C i picked it up last fall and matched with a TCL 75" I needed to add a riser to the tv due to the sound bar height but that was minor.. the sound and easy install are huge plus's The app is easy to use and makes the setup/use a breeze no complaints at all its a fantastic system and when playing 4K UHD from physical media allows the system to shine even more over streaming sources I highly recommend it as well
As someone who isn't really in the audiophile community can you do a video on how to adjust speaker settings based on room types and explain in depth about what the "Front top +2" means?
I got this a couple of weeks ago and hooked it up to my Samsung 85inch QN90C , and let me say it delivers, the room actually shakes on Netflix with Dolby Atmos.
8:54 if I do this and select Bitstream as audio output on PS5, will there be any audio lag? Because there's audio lag if I do this method on my Q600C and PS4 (Bitstream)
I left in the garage all my Sonos system and bought Samsung Q990D Sonos currently Sonos is a disaster Q990D with TV S95D The combination of the soundbar with the TV is totally incredible
Great review, very useful. I am confused between Q990C and JBL 1300. My main concern is the bass performance of 990C. I didn't experience it personally since both of them are not available in store for a demo, but heard it in reviews. Can you please tell me your experience of the sub with the 990C?
I have just paired the q990c with my wallmounted Sony bravia x85L 65inch TV. I put up some bias lighting too. Looks freakin unreal! I can highly recommend getting a wall mounted setup. Its a whole new theatre experience. And the sound with atmos in movies is insane with this system. I couldnt turn volume up past 15 in my own so called uneven living space. It would seriously have woken up people 3 blocks away. Impressive. Lol.
@pedro_ferreirinha absolutely, sound bars are effectively just an audio output from your TV or device. My q990c works seamlessly with my sony bravia tv and so it should. One is delivering a picture and the other sound. That should never change.
The "990C" is now $899 now on Amazon! Just grabbed one to replace my Sony ST-5000 (2020) that I’ve never been impressed by. NOTE: Beach Camera (the seller on Amazon with the deal) just shipped me the 990D vs the C! Now that’s a deal… YMMV but saw a similar review/comment posted and was skeptical until it showed up at my door!
What I would appreciate is a separation of settings per each single input source (e.g. music settings for BT-input, movie settings for eArc input…). Another solution would be to have something to toggle easily between predefined settings e.g. having a corresponding button at the remote
Great review! Just bought the 990c. Super happy with it. Did you plug your Xbox into the soundbar or to the tv and the audio is being used from the eArc? Thanks!
Xbox is going to the TV and then eArc to the soundbar. I want to keep the option to use 4k@120. I do have my blue ray player connected directly to the soundbar though.
Would you recommend this soundbar , or go for the new D series ? I am looking for a new lg tv aswell and missjngmiut in 2.1 .. ? Awesome video btw ! Liked and subbed 🎉

I can’t say I’m an expert, when it comes to what good music sounds like from a sound bar. But when I put it on surround, the music played equally on all channels and the bass was nice. Of course I have it on bass +2 and base enhanced. I enjoyed it. Playing music from prime music.
Nice review and glad you are enjoying it! I'd definitely get a riser for your TV. I have some of the same challenges with my living room. I have the Samsung HW-Q600C with the optional rear SWA-9200S rear speakers and am quite happy coming off of a basic 2.1 soundbar that I ran for more than eight years. Actually, maybe it's the acoustics of my room, but I'm kinda glad the subwoofer isn't any more powerful. Great for movies regardless! My experience with Atmos is the same as yours, it's good, but not like having actual height speakers. Gaming is awesome on it!
now that the new 990D is out with HDMI2.1 support im def buying it on sale later on this year/early next year. the pricing history of these systems tell they always go down around 30% on black friday/christmas sales.
I replaced a 5.1.2 system with this soundbar, I have a sb95b qoled. Is hands down an incredible system, for a small to medium size room. My ceiling is 7.8 feet and the height effect work great, adaptive mode and room calibration did the job, also have the right space open to the dinner table, but the bar and the rear right do a great job with the position sounds. Q symphony does not do a great difference, but improves a little the dialog height and front height. Atmos and dts support is great. Overall 9/10, music does not sound better than my old onkyo
I've been going back and forth between adaptive and standard for weeks, adaptive mainly. I switched to standard and I feel that's working for me now...for now.
Ordered my HW-Q990D just a few days ago. Noticing that the box does not include any wall mount brackets for the rears. Just wondering where you sourced your brackets? Thanks! Great video!
So you use "SoundFit" and "Auto EQ?" Are they meaningful? In theory, these should balance the channels and set the sound for your environment. However, I'm skeptical.
It’s loud but the separation between channels sucks. I have had for months and like it for its price. I can’t hear the atmos or side channels. Just sounds like a lot of sound
Bought it and returned it - couldn't get Q symphony working, samsung support remote logged in and also couldn't configure it .. returned it and looking at Bose
I recently purchaed lg oled G4 and have heard poor reviews with there sound bars, do you believe you miss out on anything hooking up a samsung sound bar to a LG TV
Is it? Can you explain? Because I am planning to buy LG G4 with LG S95QR. Since this 990C is getting overwhelming reviews I thinking of switching it to it. Kindly suggest.
I have the Q990D, audio wise they are the same and it sounds amazing. regarding the size.. in my opinion, when you have a flatscreen tv - you mount it to the wall. That way you have space to place things under it, like that soundbar.. that you (by the way) also can mount to the wall if you want to have a clean space below it without cabinets or shelves. The sound this thing produces is crazy.. Godzilla X Kong was fun but you need to watch a movie like Mad Max - Fury Road or something like Saving Private Ryan (remastered) to get that soundstage that makes you go WOW. edit- regarding the music, i wasn't expecting much because i mainly use Spotify.. but wow.. depending on the track/music of course.. it does sound VERY clear. I didn't know that Spotify had surround support for their music but it seems that many songs and EDM have surround encoding in their tracks which surprised me as i previously used a stereo system for Spotify. remastered tracks (like Dire Straits) are a pleasure to listen to. If Dolby is not used in a track, i can use Sound Grouping (i think party mode for the C version) to fire up all speaker for Stereo mode on all together. This is also a great soundstage for music.. and this thing get s LOUD. So loud in fact that it literally shakes my room doors and windows when going over "22" on my sound level that goes to 100... I haven't had the balls yet to go over 22 as i'm sure my neighbours wouldn't appreciate it. Anyway, best purchase i've made in many years. If anyone watching this video and is considering a purchase for the C or D version.. Only purchase the D version if you have a computer connected to your TV, it's the only device that benefits from the HDMI 2.1 eARC connection. Otherwise, if you are only a Bluray or Streaming movie watcher - buy the C version presented here. I'll be saving up for a Samsung Q-Symphony capable tv now i have this soundbar for an even bigger soundstage. Think next year when prices go down a bit.. those tv's are pricey..
I have my 990B wall mounted under my Q82C using Q Symphony. Sounds great in my 10x12.5 foot living room. Only small issue is one wall is closer so the wide is "wider" on one side. Using the app is imperative for best perfornance. I'd to see adjustable left vs right, but it's still excellent.
if u have a tiny enough liveing room or are willing to put speakers closer to you then with any system that has more than 3 speakers u can create that bubble effect i have a basic 5.1 soundbar with true rear speakers and the bubble effect is recreated perfectly
My friend got that sound bar along with the atmos surrounds…. He was trying to show it off too me saying it was as good as my built surround system…. Well…. I really tried to be objective and give it a fair listen. I don’t think he had it set up right, even still I thought I was crappy… for movies it was ok but when he demonstrated music… it was horrible, the vocals sounded like the singer was singing inside a box through a paper towel roll…. There were also a lot of refraction that caused a weird echo effect. That system is adequate for movies and tv but doesn’t compare what so ever too my built system for music. Like not even in the same reality… As a convenience for people that don’t want to spend money or the time to set up a proper surround system it’s ok but don’t say it’s better because it doesn’t even come close to comparing. There are just too many ways to adjust, tweak and not to mention the features of an avr. Also wireless signals are not good for music , especially hi-res. So that was my take on this sound bar system….
Yeah, I would agree it doesn’t really match a full surround sound system. But what it offers is a solid experience even if you have to choose convenience over brute force.
There is always something better. The bottom line is, people want something that works; that doesn't require weeks and months of painful tuning and calibration. Example- a mini van is great for kids but has no style, SUV has style but handles like a stage coach, Corvette handles well and has style but has no room. Audio systems are kind of the same, if you want one that can do everything at 100%, you'd spend more money than its worth.
It sucks I'll probably have to settle for buying this at £1,000 minimum. I see so many people saying they got it for almost half that and I cant for the life of me find a discount or a place that sells it so cheap.😅
I'm pretty underwhelmed with mine after all the 10/10 reviews. My old mismatched 5.1 sounded better and was much cheaper. I get very little evidence of Dolby Atmos effects. The sub is pretty good though and I have more room now the separate speakers have gone. EDIT all sound from the rear speaker channels seem to come from the same point. It's hard to tell which of the three sides of the speaker is working even when up close to it.
sorry LO but your opinion is LO out the door if you dont mind 1" being taken off your viewing experience. Thats insane to say. You should've just said it be worth investing in if you can mount your TV or else your tv might be too LO.
II bought this speaker based on the reviews and I am honestly so disappointed I come form an onkyo THX and teufel THX speaker set, I am loosing the front wide stage and the bass is a downgarde. I think I should have better invested in a new receiver and two additional dolby atmos hight speakers, you can not trick physics, the drivers on this soundbar are small and can not compete with bigger surround speakers. I am using this iwith 65 oled samsung with Q symphony... This might be amazing for people who come from normal TV speakers. but I feel the reviewers are either over reacting or testingthe speakers at a veryloud level
if you want a better sub, i hear from many reviews the JBL 1300X is much better, which is the one that i went with 😄 funny enough, i just bought a brand new Samsung tv
@@dino91001 I love my Samsung tvs. I bet the JBL sub sounds pretty good in most rooms. What I don't like about the JBL is when you put the surrounds in the back, the bar itself is pretty small, and separation is really bad.
@@rafars2246 yes true, i did think about that. but that doesn’t bother me much because once i have it set up, if i don’t like the surrounds detached, i’ll simply just leave them attached. i also would like to have the detached corner speakers to connect to my desktop when i’m working in my office 😎
Wait I forgot Samsung has always been overpriced and let’s say late to the party. I went with the Vizio elevate ,sound wise it would blow this Samsung away. It’s also way overpriced even on sale and includes dts X and Dolby Vision pass through.
Get yours here: amzn.to/3TocUsq 😊

@@thomasmcginnis7526 bought it a few months ago at 820 😀
You can get info from samsung and harman just complain to them . Maybe you may wrong setup without calibrate first .
Mine sounds too harsh hurts my ears
I'm pretty underwhelmed with mine after all the 10/10 reviews. My old mismatched 5.1 sounded better and was much cheaper. I get very little evidence of Dolby Atmos effects. The sub is pretty good though and I have more room now the separate speakers have gone.
EDIT all sound from the rear speaker channels seem to come from the same point. It's hard to tell which of the three sides of the speaker is working even when up close to it.
Lack of 2.1 is a deal breaker for me
sorry LO but your opinion is LO out the door if you dont mind 1" being taken off your viewing experience. Thats insane to say. You should've just said it be worth investing in if you can mount your TV or else your tv might be too LO.
We all need a volume limiter. Hahah 😂
Hight speakers isn’t that immersive or add much in cinemas either so I think it’s a bit overrated.
You don’t mention dts x. Even soundbars at a lower price point includes dts x. Why would Samsung pull this crap?
It's got it.
I think for the next model they should add two optional front wide speakers and may be an optional second woofer
Buy Sony, Sonos or Sennheiser Ambeo Max. Samsung is just avarage compared to them.
Wrong. This is the best on market
This sound bar limit your FPS to 60. Deal breaker.
Not if you have eARC.
I have it and can say that the Samsung sucks! Buy a proper 5.1 for the money. The whole Dolby Atmos is non-existing on the Samsung.
Subwoofer is beyond terrible. Nothing special, I got the q990d and planning to return
if you want a better sub, i hear from many reviews the JBL 1300X is much better, which is the one that i went with 😄 funny enough, i just bought a brand new Samsung tv
