On the Q900c with the SWA-9500S addon speakers, Samsung appears to have removed the option for surround speaker mode selection (front/rear) in the app. It used to be there before v1004 firmware update. The Q900c has the same soundbar & subwoofer as the Q990c from looking at the specs.
So my soundbar manufacturer is now in the habit of putting many improvements behind a software update they could probably give me for free, but instead will only give me if I pay another couple grand for those minimal improvements, thus making them now much like my graphics card manufacturer restricting some driver improvements to their latest gen. cards. I'm starting to see the future of electronics in general.... ;)
Apple on the same boat here. I have the Q990C and its 99% the same as the Q990D. "Took them a year" to add full HDMI 2.1, which couldve been added easily to the Q990C.
@@MorganReidguitar Well, that's one way of looking at it, but the problem is that even it could maybe sound better if they didn't reserve some of the software improvements for whatever the next higher up model is. ;)
@iamthechessmaster unless you're a gamer, you're not missing anything. Besides, you can just plug your console into the TV and have the audio sent to eARC. If you have a PS5, make sure you select audio output to receiver instead of soundbar so you can select dolby atmos as a choice at the bottom of the screen.
Hey Daniel! This is a different question, I recently got the Bose 900 sound bar WITHOUT the sub nd the surrounds. I ran the adaptiq. . I turned it on and found out that doing so turns the base way down, although improving the overall sound. Even increasing the base to +70 when adaptiq is ON doesn't really gives the base that I was getting when adaptiq was turned off with just +30 on base. Ran the adaptiq 2-3 times. same result..it's a normal 200 sizet medium sized bedroom. Turning off adaptiq brings backs the base but detoriates the sound. I have read on reddit too that even with sub connected too and running adaptiq just quietens the system and base goes down. I am not a base head
I think standard mode is all sound bars need, as some others lose the centre and muddle direction. Q symphony is still not much for the 600b. Still think a second sub addition would be good for the people wanting to pay for flagship, and 8k cables definitely make a difference with eArc connection. Great comparisons 🙃
I got the Q990D for 777€ tax and shipping included (new unit) to use with my LG Oled 55 CX. Alternatives i considered are bose ultra full setup (i like bose sound, would have costed 1600-1800 depending on curent offers with sub and satellites), lg s95qr ( just 40-50€ more ), Sony A9, Sony quad but too expensive. I also own a Sony HTST 5000 which i use on LG Oled 55 C7 which i tend to use a lot for music in chromecast mode. Did i make agood choice? I still have the option to cancel my order, but i think i made a nice bargain, any thoughts? NB: here in Italy Q990C would have costed me more thean the D for some reason, about 140€ more, i couldn't care less about Q symphony / frames

20:01 Q990C in the sound check (for me) ! (i listened it using JBL Headphones) The sound is more crystal clear/brighter in the highs ! The Q990D sounds dull in my ears. Q990C is richer. NOTE: That i have my browser configured to pass the sound through a crystalizer filter (configured by me) that i can easily catch the differences in the music. So the Q990C is the winner for me.
@@neverenoughtech Can we get a tentative date? I'm looking forward to purchasing a HT system soon so I'll wait till your review of it drops by. Thanks :)
I love the idea of the frames - as much as I want the best audio experience, I don't want to turn my living room into a sea of bulky black electronics - however it seems it's just not there yet. Hopefully Samsung implement this further throughout the year!
Great review as always, I have a question about this soundbar, why Samsung doesn't sell separately a pair of satellite like the ones at the rear but for the front?
I have a 77” S95D and Sonos Arc + sub + ones. Would I be better off upgrading to era 300s or go Q990D for q symphony with my tv? Or seeing if an arc gen 2 comes out?

Waiting this out. Based on the fact that they barely made any actual upgrades this year I’m sure they’re going to completely redesign for the next model.
@@neverenoughtech Man! For the especial Samsung clients. Before tax the D is $1,137.49, and the C is $700!!! Crazy good deals. If Samsung was to use a larger sub. So tired of my SB46514-F6, but the sub is miles better...
I own the Q990D and must say I love it. Even though I downgraded in speakers from a 5.1.2 AVR setup, I feel feel like I upgraded in immersion sound. Despite "down sizing". I own a 85" TCL QM8 (2023), so I'm never going to have that Q-symphony feature, but I find space fit and adaptive sound mode work excellent. Regarding your comment about the Dragon system, of course it's going to be better. It costs twice as much with twice the power. Even on sale. I do have a question for anyone cuz I've only had my bar a week now. How is everyone adjusting their channel levels? Any obvious like make heights louders, etc? Also, thanks for mentioning the music frame. Going to try the center middle idea when the price comes down from $400. Maybe prime day. Will the setup work without a Samsung TV? Great video! Very informative!
Disappointed we're not getting more from this soundbar setup. I put off getting the C because i figured they'd do a skip year or something, 1 year is minor tweaks (the c) and the next year we'd get major changes (the d). I don't have any surround sound right now and I'm sure either the C or D would be a great addition, I just know as soon as I buy it, they'll announce big changes on the next one :(
Excellent review!!! Can you purchase the surroundsound speakers separately for the C or D and use them for 2 front channels?? One huge downside is the hdmi ports, they are on the side of the cut out and you have to bend the hdmi cables in a bad way in order to get the wires to go in the proper place. Samsung should’ve moved the port so the hdmi wires go straight out the back
C is fuller … D has more high end detail. It’s what I said in the video. Though I could change a few settings and the d could sound more like the D … but that’s the difference when keeping all the settings the same
Maybe as the bar is more potent and if the TV was really high end and it actually let me put two in front … the Sonos 300 rears though are far superior to the Ds
By the way I can confirmed from another link video that shows the audio board on the C of last year is the board in the D. So as far as improvement there has no changed at all regarding sub on the latest model for 2024.
Yes you can use this sound bar with an LG TV or any other TV it all depends on what you are looking for do your research so that you get the best for your money.

Hey Daniel! This is a different question,
I recently got the Bose 900 sound bar WITHOUT the sub nd the surrounds.
Can you not adjust base up manually to your liking?
@@neverenoughtech did...but i have to go to +80 to match the base effect of +20 when adaptiq was turned off
I think standard mode is all sound bars need, as some others lose the centre and muddle direction. Q symphony is still not much for the 600b. Still think a second sub addition would be good for the people wanting to pay for flagship, and 8k cables definitely make a difference with eArc connection. Great comparisons 🙃

How can I connect to Soundbar, TV and Samsung Frame Music together?
One music frame if you have the soundbar and it all needs to be wireless
@@neverenoughtech They are wireless, but I don't know how to connect to Wi-Fi, please explain
I don’t comment on videos very often, but wow this guy is EVERYTHING one would ever want in a product reviewer!! 🙏🙌😭 Informative, knowledgeable, and uniquely hilarious!! Thank you for being someone I’d want to listen and learn from.
Thanks a bunch! These videos are tough to put together all alone but nice to know it’s well received.
Is it possible to check the two frames, and then just turn on Q symphony to run the bar and frames and tv speakers ?
No - doing anything cool or obvious with the frame has been blocked
@@neverenoughtech Love your reviews. Best on youtube !
So the Q990C is the winner for me.
thank you for this demonstration and nice review
Great video as always
Can't wait for your Sony quad theatre setup thoughts and review!
Me too dude!
@@neverenoughtech Can we get a tentative date? I'm looking forward to purchasing a HT system soon so I'll wait till your review of it drops by. Thanks :)
Just waiting for your HT-A9M2 review before pulling the trigger. Other reviews are looking mighty promising so can't wait for yours.

Is the 990d + The Frame better than the Sonos arc + era 300+sub? I can get here the 990d for the price of two Sonos Era 3000.
Keep up the great work
I love the idea of the frames - as much as I want the best audio experience, I don't want to turn my living room into a sea of bulky black electronics - however it seems it's just not there yet. Hopefully Samsung implement this further throughout the year!
have been waiting for a long time for this one haha this one will be watched when i have my midnight snack
Great review as always, I have a question about this soundbar, why Samsung doesn't sell separately a pair of satellite like the ones at the rear but for the front?
They haven’t figured out how to do it wirelessly at the price they want to sell
@@neverenoughtech Oh thank you, that's surprisingly so simple that I haven't thought of that 😅
I have a 77” S95D and Sonos Arc + sub + ones. Would I be better off upgrading to era 300s or go Q990D for q symphony with my tv? Or seeing if an arc gen 2 comes out?
I would stay with sonos the newer generations will be better than ever.
With the ongoing issues with Sonos and the Samsung 990c currently on sale for $949 (as of August 29), is it time to sell my Sonos Arc, a pair of Era 300s, and Sonos Sub Mini?
The 990C is now $899 on Amazon (Best price ever)... just picked one up to replace my lackluster Sony HT-ST5000 from 2020.
@@andrewjeffery4279 NOTE: Beach Camera (the seller on Amazon with the deal) just shipped me the 990D vs the C! Now that’s a deal… 🤫 YMMV but saw a similar review posted. 👏🏻
i want to buy a soundbar for my tv, i really don't know what to choose, Sonos Arc Ultra, Samsung Q990C/D, JBL 1300 , AMBO.....
So what about using them with an Apple TV box for example… ??? Just curious
I just bought a Q990D that’s going to be replacing my nakamichi 9.2.4. Is this going to be a big upgrade? I have loved my nakamichi just want a new sound. Room is 10x10
Salut il y a eu une mise a jour pour avoir les deux Music frame ou pas?
Not that I’m aware of … would not expect that until at least next year
11ch .... can apple tv box or others support 11ch sound bar? apple music can be come spatial audio??
Neverenoughtech, if u tell us which tv box can support 11ch ?
The bar accepts up to 7.1.4 and the rest is up mixed
Would you say adding the frame as a back center channel was worth it?
It’s a promising enhancement. The execution unfortunately is not worth pursuing
I'm subbing. This was funny 🤣
Waiting this out. Based on the fact that they barely made any actual upgrades this year I’m sure they’re going to completely redesign for the next model.
Great review ❤
Thank you much!
Great review, I really enjoyed it! What were your thoughts on "bass enhancement"? Did it add anything positive?
It makes the bass louder - not terribly sophisticated but maybe is what needed by a customer by customer basis
Love you man! Here we are awake again!
Bed time - this video stole my life force
@@neverenoughtech Man! For the especial Samsung clients. Before tax the D is $1,137.49, and the C is $700!!! Crazy good deals. If Samsung was to use a larger sub. So tired of my SB46514-F6, but the sub is miles better...
Great job, real reviews. Do you or anyone know the name of the movie clip during the codec support part of the review? Sci-Fi Fantasy?
It’s a pretty famous movie titled “PS5 commercial”
@@neverenoughtech LOL, thanks for the quick reply, it would make a great movie I think. Love your dry wit and delivery.
I have the 950a. Is it worth upgrading to the 990D?
Great review, great soundbars. I just think it lacks some bass. Does it sync and play 2 subwoofers at once, since it's wireless?
No. one sub for you (and everyone else)
Samsung should’ve moved the port so the hdmi wires go straight out the back
No, there is no practical or official way to have front and rear left and right
I know it's youtube and i'm listening on headphones via your microphones, but why do I like how the "C" sounds more? Sounds more full perhaps?
C is fuller … D has more high end detail. It’s what I said in the video. Though I could change a few settings and the d could sound more like the D … but that’s the difference when keeping all the settings the same
Samsung Q990D and JBL bar 1300, which one is the better option to pick?
Thank's for the review
Will i be able to get everything if i pair it with an LG TV?
Do you think this system could be better than your “Illigal”Sonos 4 Era 2sub and Arc ?
Maybe as the bar is more potent and if the TV was really high end and it actually let me put two in front … the Sonos 300 rears though are far superior to the Ds
By the way I can confirmed from another link video that shows the audio board on the C of last year is the board in the D. So as far as improvement there has no changed at all regarding sub on the latest model for 2024.
Yes you can use this sound bar with an LG TV or any other TV it all depends on what you are looking for do your research so that you get the best for your money.
