In Romania from Samsung official market I ordered q990d yesterday, it arrived today at 795,60$. Awesome product, works absolutely great with s90c 65" for my apartment. I got a home cinema dedicated room at my parents house where I run an old Bose 5.1 system with Dolby 5.1 and dts only with 120" projector. The room has been acoustically treated with bass traps and so on. That old system actually is a bit more imersive than this one regarding the separation between speakers. Hello Friend, I own the queue 990C. It was actually my first subwoofer. Technically, I auditioned the Sony A9, which I actually liked better, but when you added the price of the subwoofer and the A9 at the time, it was over two grand. Was able to get the Samsung Q990C for a little over $700 from Samsung. I do think the AI9 was a better system as you’re able to place the speakers wide and a four corners of the room or wherever you want. Sound bars have that directional and it’s just an inherent feature to the product. There’s nothing against Samsung. That being said the good side the Samsung Q990C is absolutely amazing. This product is so well designed for people that don’t know Home theater. Well set up is so simple. as someone who’s coming from a dedicated system with tower speakers it’s surprisingly good. I was constantly looking for places that the 990c was behind the the separate system, one of the things I noticed is the lack of mid levels compared to full tower speakers. a lot of what Samsung and Sony and Sonos are doing is using digital trickery so they don’t have to have giant speakers all over the room. I am definitely not against that and when talking about the Sony A9, I think Sony does the best mixing watch national treasure and it felt like I was hearing things and scenes that I’ve never heard before that’s a good sign. I didn’t get that feeling with the Samsung. The Sony seem to have a little more magic. Did it have $1300 more magic absolutely not maybe $300 more lol

Nice review, but I would never recommend connecting a gaming console to a soundbar as this will certainly increase input latency. You're much better off connecting consoles directly to your TV and setting the display to pass through the audio to the sound bar via e arc.
@@danno4800 Check your research. How can input latency be better (lower) if the signal has to pass through the hdmi of the sound bar and then into the TV, rather than the console being directly connected to the display. This 'is not rocket science.
@Jamic9 However, this might not be ideal. For example, many TVs don't support decoding of DTS formats. In case your soundbar supports DTS and your TV doesn't, you'll want to connect your media players directly to the soundbar.
What size is your TV? I'm guessing 55. I have a Samsung OLED C4 55 and my CREATIVE SXFI CARRIER is short and thick and it doesn't get in the way of the TV. The dimensions of the Q990D is smaller so it won't get in the way. The Q990 is longer so I hope it isn't longer than a 55 in, otherwise it won't look good. If the Samsung Q990D is better than the CREATIVE SXFI CARRIER then I'll return the SXFI CARRIER.
@@JilesMcCoy Mine just arrived this morning. It's as long as my 55 at the back and the second corner from the front is just a few mils longer. It looks OK. Looks better on TVs bigger than 55.

Hi, can you help me out if you can please? I’m just like you I have an iPhone 15 Pro to be exact so I don’t know if that’s causing the issue but my SmartThings app, the option to move the left and right speakers to the front for equalization is missing and I am one of those people that has too small of a space to be able to put them behind me so I would like to have that option. It sounds great now, but after seeing this video, I feel like that option would make the sound even better! I’ve tried to set up the app twice now, but I can’t seem to fix this issue. I thought maybe it was a Wi-Fi issue but changing that didn’t help either. Great review BTW I agree this is an amazing set up!

Also goes for dolby atmos..the 990d supports it, but if your tv doesn't, now you can decode it via soundbar
Compared to Lovsac's stealth tech..($4g) 1,500$ is great!❤
I need to check out the Lovsac.
Massive difference versus q950a? Better for.music?
I’ve never heard that one before.
Do you notice any difference between the Q990C and D? I heard it is basically the same except for a few software features to be updated, is that true?
Its hard to remember the exact sound of the C now. I only had it a little while a year ago.
What is your tv size. I am planning to buy this soundbar but I think it would look good bigger than the length of my tv. I have the Samsung qn95b 65”.
This was shown with a 65" TV.
That was a 65"
@@JilesMcCoy Mine just arrived this morning. It's as long as my 55 at the back and the second corner from the front is just a few mils longer. It looks OK. Looks better on TVs bigger than 55.
I didn't know you could plug an Xbox or PS5 to the Samsung soundbar is that because of the eArc plugged into the TV? so does that mean if I have a Mac Mini do I plug it into the TV or the soundbar? Mine is coming next week :D
You can plug it to either spot.
@@JilesMcCoy Thanks for replying Jiles! still confused why plug it into the soundbar? is it acting like an extra HMDI port or the device that is connected to the soundbar rather than the TV, will make it sound better?
@@AlexisUXDesign This is just Samsung's recommendation. I can't tell a difference.
How does 990D compare to the Sony Quad, in terms of audio quality and surround sound experience? and What would you prefer if you only had the option of getting one of these?
I’ve never seen or heard the Sony quad.
@@JilesMcCoyit’s brand new and just came out. The Q990 series is hard to beat.
@@trewright1482 Quad has better spacial seperation if set up correctly, but it is $1000+ more.
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I don't have a solution for your problem unfortunately. I'd call customer support. Just make sure you have the newest app.
@@JilesMcCoy You’re welcome and OK thanks!
Bro be honest is bass good im planning to buy 1 its my 1st sound bar i hv samsung frame tv and 150room sq feet
The bass is good. But it depends on what you want. If you want dual 15s shaking your walls this won’t do that.

And is it powerful for house parties and outdoors...i really want to know more about this q990D please. Thank you
Outdoors? I would never take it outdoors.
@@JilesMcCoyhow many watts does it has ....is it powerful for house parties.. I just took it to my home country connected it and came back here in DXD to work so I really don't know much about it.
Sonos ARC+Sub Gen 3+Surround Era 300 Vs Q990D. Which one will be better for good sound?
Both are good
Q990D is the best choice for movies and better up firing speakers providing the true Dolby atmos experience.
Sonos is best when it comes to playing music throughout your house
What are the benefits hooking up a ps5 to soundbar apose to directly to to via 2.1 port?
Id probably go straight in the TV.
What if i have a Arc only tv- is samsung 8fn-uk version..and an nvidia shields pro what are the best connectivity options to get the best sound output.?
You can plug the shield right into the soundbar no problem. And then the soundbar is a source to the tv.
Would another CON be running power cables across your floor instead of thin speaker wire?
Not really. Plugging in the speakers is like plugging in a lamp. Just plug in to the port close to the speaker.
@@JilesMcCoy not sure about your media room layout, but the rear speakers for me get placed close to the centre of the room, where my couch is, and running a power cable from there will definetly look horrible, an create a trip hazard. CON for me an maybe other people with a similar setup
@@azzbrim2222 It does sound like a con for you. My sofa is against the wall so no cables are visible in my setup. What are you using now?
@@JilesMcCoy Wired rear speakers atm, but looking to update an hoping to get rid of wires.
can you mount this onto a tv and will it mount to a lg c2
No sound bar mounts on to a TV... but I think you can buy a 3nrd party mount extender and connect that to your TV wall mount. I didn't try it though.
Hi,
Can you please suggest how to connect this Samsung Q990D soundbar to Amazon's Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)?
Thanks!
You can plug the cube into your TV or into the Soundbar. The soundbar should connect with earc to your tv no matter where the cube goes.
@@JilesMcCoy Thanks for your prompt response and suggestions on this. I will get my new Q990D on Wednesday and will try that.
Not able decide betweem jbl1300 and q990d
No wrong answer. If you have a Samsung tv go with the Samsung.
How this works compared with bose 550, bose sub 500 ?. Please suggest
I've never seen the Bose gear before.
In Thailand only $735.
Nice!
What are the room dimensions?
For my room? about 14 x 14 where I tested.
Please, what's the name of the set-up app for me to download. Thank you 😊
Smartthings app, It does just about all the Samsung stuff.
How powerful is this q990d and how many watts please..i have it but am not that good with soundbars..i fixed it on my 65" hd cu7000
Great option!
Just picked this up for £579
Nice!
Let me know for the best price in toronto, Canada. Authorised seller for samsung sound bar.
Im not familiar with the companies in Toronto.
Hi Jiles.
If I run all my media from my PS5 should I connect direct from PS5 or PS5>TV>soundbar? :)
You can do either. I’d try both and see what you like better. Samsung suggests plodding into their soundbar now that they can pass through the full resolution and FPS. Both worked ok for me.
@@JilesMcCoyThanks Jiles. I have just purchased, looking forward to the upgrade. Thanks for your review. 😊👍

I'm thinking about getting this soundbar, I have a Sony bravia a80l does anyone know if using a different brand soundbar will affect anything with the tv?
It will work perfectly. In my video I used it with Hisense.
A shame as you should have gotten the S90C which is the better OLED TV to the A80L and then could have taken advantage of Q Symphony
@@trewright1482 If I had it I would have!
@@trewright1482but sony tv's are better than Samsung ..
How do I get it for $1500!?
That’s the US price. Or was anyway.
Exelente , pero falto la prueba de sonido..😜
For sure
Is it still better than jbl 1300x?
I got to hear the 1300x at AAL this year and I thought it was good. I would need to have some time with it to have a strong opinion, but it was for sure good. They Samsung is really dang good though.
I love Samsung stuff and I know you do too. I told my mom to look at a nice new Samsung but the company that sold her the TV said Samsung sucks so buy a Sonos. She did and overpaid, I have failed her as a son
This sound bar is baller. It’s easy and sounds great. I like it a lot. I just want a 2nd subwoofer.
@@JilesMcCoy and it's half the price of the Nakamichi Dragon 🐉. Do you think it's decent competition for it?
@@EverythingHomeTheater The dual subs are the best thing going for the Dragon. This soundbar is likely the better of the 2... although I've not had a Dragon my home. You have to REALLY want a Dragon to buy a Dragon. The new Klipsch actually has a RCA out for subs... thats pretty slick!
What about Chromecast?
You know, I didnt try.
Very good instructions...even a blind & deaf person could follow this set up 😅
Glad it was helpful!
All these fawning and other online reviews of the 990D, or others - All I can think of is they haven't listened to or compared to even a basic wired system.
This isn’t true. I have a very nice system to compare to. The 990D is a great soundbar system.
The you don't have a very nice system to compare to. Sorry.
I just listened / compared both systems with Top Gun: Maverick & Blade Runner 2049. Not. Even. Close.
For few hundred dollars more than the 990d I built 7.1.4 system with Polk Audio Signature Series. Good speakers, but certainly not top of the line as compared to how far some philes go to. And the 990D is supposed to be 11.1.4
There just is no substitute for being surrounded by real speakers vs trying to recreate all that by bouncing sound waves off ceilings and walls.
And the 990d sub"woofer" is weak compared to a real one.
Sorry,
@@TurboMountTV It’s a very good system :)
How do you position the surround sound speakers? And what is your recommendation settings for them
I put them to the side and slightly behind. Pointing to me.
Slightly above ear hight sounds best
How many feet should we keep sorround speakers?I have samsung hw q990c soundbar
Do what you can in your room. If you have a sofa then a foot or so away from the sofa is usually totally fine.
You're right hand is the right speaker and you're left hand is the left speaker........ thanks for clarification on this 👍
