How To: Install A Castle 10A BEC

- In this video I show how I installed my Castle Creations 10 Amp BEC with a Deans 3 pin connector and servo extension removing the red ESC wire.
The Power wire from the ESC's internal BEC needs to be removed to prevent issues between the two.

Kool idea with the switch. I really like the extension wire. I was going to remove the red wire with the clip intact so I can always put it back. But the extension makes more sense.
I can build my own extension. I am getting ready ti install 3 of those BECs in 3 Honchos.
Great vid!
just what i was looking for thanks
You are more than welcome!
I installed mine and worked great but I was using two 3s batteries and I unplugged a battery with out unplugged the bec and I created a short. Oops well I guess you live and you learn. I was really careful plugging in but not so much unplugging.
I like the idea of a switch my only thoughts on connecting a on off switch before the ESC and BEC is can the switch handle allot of power at full open throttle?
I will stick to the battery connector as my on off switch
on your setup I think it's OK because it's a crawler
Please note the Track Star TS3T with matching receiver you must use a Y connection and plug the BEC and the servo into channel 1 only, no other slot or combination will work. I tried them all. The symptoms where that the steering servo would work but no forward or reverse and the ECS beeping like it has not connection.
thank you man
I see you are using the axial ar-3 receiver and what looks to be a HV servo - I was told that the maximum voltage that the ar-3 receiver can only handle 6.5volts
My question is this: what voltage do you have your cc bec running at? - are you running the bec at more than 6.5volts? - if so, are you having any issues with the receiver?
On my losi nightcrawler I'm getting ready to install the same bec to run a HV servo at around 7-7.4volts and I am planning on keeping the esc bec to run the receiver and wiring the servo to the bec directly (as opposed to plugging the servo and the bec into the receiver)
I'd prefer a simpler wiring job and would love to just plug the servo and bec into the receiver, but I'm not confident that the receiver can handle the extra voltage
Your thoughts/experiences?
If my esc has a power switch does that need modded? If not I just clip the red wire to the esc right?
My castle BEC just quit on me, any thoughts ? No more green lite
where do you plug the receiver wire into ace? You never said. You said plug your BEC into the 3 or 5 channel, where are you plugging in the Receiver wire, clear as mud dude.
What servo is that by chance
What chassis is that?
Do i need to purchase the castle link for this? Is the default 5.1v of cc bec not enough to power my power hd 25kg?
You will need the Castle Link, Its highly recommended and will allow you to control the BEC. Default BEC Voltage is 5.25V. Thanks for stopping by if you have any more questions please let me know.
@@Moyersteven1 thanks for the help sir. 😁👍👍👍

I have been looking EVERYWHERE and either I'm blind or there is no answer.. How do I know what Amp BEC to get? If I picked up lets say a 400 oz torque servo how many amps would I need for my BEC? Hope this makes sense!
Get the Castle 10 Amp BEC, its more than enough for a 400oz servo.
Cool appreciate the response!!
What does the bec do
Do i have to program this bec with castle link before i can use it? I just want to use it so i can use 3cell lipo on my esc
Yes you do - it's set at the factory at 5volts, so if you want more power from the bec, you'll need to program it with the castle link
I plan on having my lhs program it for me to avoid buying the castle link

Does this do data logging the esc amps, temps etc?
+Buck Lee Do you know what BEC is?
BEC to Bind/Batt on reciever, just sayin`;)
mKAY kids ? mkay?
xD good vid
rakete111 It was a bad habit repeating myself, I was still a bit shy....glad only you noticed, MKAY!!!
Can ubec cause any issues with cheap servos
It's very possible, especially if you have some short or not programmed the BEC correctly. I would stay away from cheap electronics, I've had them fry other things too. I know better ones are/can be expensive.
hi bro,,actually am new in the rc world,,i jst bought a 1/5th scale and am intendin to convert it to brushless,,now some said i should get a bec seperate for my esc and servo..which means??help me bro am confuse..here is the esc am aiming for its a Turnigy Trackstar 1/5th Scale Sensorless 200amp 8s.the bec is jst to give the car more run time as they said...thnks
jimmy V. A Castle BEC actually gives your servo the power it needs, The BEC will take the stress off your ESC, resulting in a cooler operating ESC. A BEC is needed when running high power servos (1/5 scale being one) Also pick up a Castle link so you can program your BEC, the Castle link is very helpful to have. I would recommend a Hitec High Voltage Servo for your 1/5 scale, if your on a budget look at a Solar servo.
thnks bro,,can i use the castle bec with any othr esc?thnks
jimmy V. Yes, you can use the BEC with any ESC, Receiver or Servo.
So the bec goes into the aux hole?
nathaniel rudser You can plug it into any open port.
What's the bec used for?
A BEC is used when running higher voltage batteries, servos that need more power..... Say I run a Hitec 7955 servo, and a Tekin FXR ESC, that servo needs all the power it can get so it will over work the ESC trying to get the power, in return overheating the ESC. You put in a BEC and you can give your servo's and anything the power they need. Hope this helps.
you confused me. at first you was bouncing back and forth! maybe a wire diagram throne in there would help. plugged in all the time put in a switch somewhere...…. power, no power?
