    On this Tech Tuesday video I give you a quick guide on how to install a BEC or Battery Eliminator Circuit. If you do not know what this is, it pretty much eliminates any possible circuit that is impeding the electronics to function at their max capacity. But thats in the crawler side of things. For an aircraft this eliminates the power going to the motor when the battery is low, allowing you to safely maneuver your aircraft to land safely. Hope you guys learn a bit from this video and are enjoying the Tech Tuesday Series.

    Holmes Hobbies RX Bypass is needed and you wont have to remove the red wire from esc and it will only give the bec power to the servo and not the whole receiver

  • @kkhalifah1019
    @kkhalifah1019 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That thing costs US$20. You know... for just US$2 or so, you can buy a DC-DC regulator (which is what a BEC really is) that you can use to dial down your battery voltage to whatever voltage that suits your servo..?
    Wires up in exactly the same way, but fully adjustable yet a hell lot cheaper than your full-blown 'programmable' BEC..

      You can use it as long as you program it on castle link. Should work fine as this is a voltage regulator in a way. Hope that helps.

    If i dont use a esc in some of my custom rc conversions builds (dozers etc) And I just run the reveiver as esc for those servo channels.. does that mean the reciever draws what ever dirrect power straight from battery voltage? So lets say i have a 6v battery then the receiver is kicking out 6v to channels? reason asking is I want too run a few of my channels on 6.8v too my servos running 360 for gear drives for max voltage to that servo.. do I just then add a bec or will that effect across the board channels as well. I dont want too burn up my axuonix linear servos that only run at 6v...make sence lol?

    How can I use something like this to power my flashlight made for a drone but it’s meant to use it’s own 2-3s battery & my drone already has a big 6s battery max 25.2v how can I set this flashlight up to that? & just have a connector to disconnect when not needed from my 6s battery to the flashlight… thanks!

    • @RCInMotion
      @RCInMotion  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d connect it to a male connector just how you would on a FC of your drone. Power goes to your power source but instead of connecting the wires to your FC connect it to your Flashlight and program the BEC to the voltage needed. All can be set via the app on a computer. Hope that helps.

      @@adrianau4246 not much but yes these BEC circuits are adjustable and it makes it a perfect match for any application. These will keep the constant voltage to which you program them.

    So, if I understood you correctly, the ESC provides power to the receiver via the 'Red' wire. So, in theory, removing the 'Red' wire & plugging in the BEC into the receiver allows the BEC to power up the receiver, which also sends power to the servo. So now the ESC can focus on only sending power to the motor. I take that this also results in a cooler ESC.

    • @RCInMotion
      @RCInMotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lord Bustanut hypothetically in a way yes, because it splits the voltage to where it’s needed putting less strain on those electronics that work more or less. For example if the servo needs more input you can program it so that the voltage is focused on the servo but doesn’t take away from the power. Always remember some ESC are preprogrammed with a BEC to balance the distribution of power, usually this BEC is set lower to manage the power input. But having a separate one can be useful in some applications. Hopefully that helps...

    Your soldering is atrocious. It seems to me that most people solder their BEC directly to the battery connector while replacing the old Deans connectors at the same time. Not that your way won’t work, it will, but I would never suggest cutting factory ESC wires.

  • @charlestreibley9904
    @charlestreibley9904 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Please note the Track Star TS3T with matching receiver you must use a Y connection and plug the BEC and the servo into channel 1 only, no other slot or combination will work. I tried them all. The symptoms where that the steering servo would work but no forward or reverse and the ECS beeping like it has not connection.

    Is there a way to add more power to your servo without frying the receiver? My receiver can only handle 6v, so it would fry if I added any more power to it using a BEC.

    • @RCInMotion
      @RCInMotion  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be honest if your RX bec is 6v already you should be able to run it no problem. You may want to program your RX if it’s programmable. If not bring your ESC BEC down as well.

    Great vid. I just did this. It’s got issues. My set up is a Hexfly ESC from a redact gen7, and an rc4wd 3 channel with a savox wp0231 servo. It has a light kit but plan for a winch later. I put the BEC in the b/c channel, used an extension to cut out the signal from the esc. When I hook up the battery, the servo comes on as well as the lights but no throttle until the esc is turned on. I have steering either way. Is this normal or is something not right. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi, I do not know why they call it a BEC or Battery Eliminator Circuit, because that is not what it is or does. What it really is, is a ESC Bypass Circuit, a BEC does the opposite of what this does. A BEC eliminates the need to have an extra battery pack to power the receiver, nothing more nothing less. Personally I would just buy an extra little battery pack for $10 to plug into the receiver.

    Hello, thanks for good explanation, i have not enough information about these topic, So that, i have a basic questions. I have a esc which has 5.8V 3A bec, i connect this bec wire to my 3 channel receiver and it works successfully. Last week, i bought new esc (6.1V 3A SBEC), i connected to my receiver. Firstly, it worked two times and after that, it stoped working. Now, second channel of recevier is not working. I think that, it damaged. I need a external bec, am i ?
    You disabled red wire and you connected 2 wire to receiver (one is bec output wire, other is esc wire).
    I want to connect only one wire to my receiver. Can i disable both black and red wires. And can i connect external bec red and black wire instead of them. does it correct setup ? Please help thanks.

    Is the bec only for climbers

    • @RCInMotion
      @RCInMotion  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jesus Moreno not at all you can install a BEC on any application all depending on your use. The bec is to route the power where it’s needed. Say you have an esc but a poor BEC, you can simply install one for better performance. We use it on climbers to increase servo performance, but it serves many purposes.

    • @RCInMotion
      @RCInMotion  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Azmi J yes it is completely normal the power is routed to the servo for max output. Switching on the esc will then power your rig but in term what the bec is doing is maximizing the power to the servo so you can get the torque you need. You can always tune your BEC via the castle creations USB link. Hopefully that answers your question
