The first time I watched this was when I was in my mid teens, and I found it kinda boring, but there was something about it that I liked that I just couldn't explain. When I watched it again in my mid 20s, the movie seems to have changed. A lot happened in the decade that passed. I experienced true loss several times and had a whole new perspective in life. It's a beautiful movie

This films so good many, many ways. But to me Robin William´s speech in park Bench is gutt punch. I always remember how how my mother died in ALS, we borther´s pretty much took turns to stay at her the last year. Doctors said she wouldn´t last more than a few months but she fought almost year against the inevitable. The scene always makes me remember that and the smell of hospital. God that Robin William´s performance is good in this film

The scene in the park on the bench is my favorite. It really humbled Will and made him realize that he really had no life experience despite being a genius. It also really served to give Williams’ character a backstory in a creative way. He has experienced everything he asked Will about and in just a few minutes it give his character a good deal of depth. Robin Williams really had a wide range when it came to acting. Starting out as a comedian, to acting in frames like this to even playing the villain in some movies. I’m recommend his movie “One Hour Photo”.

Personally, I love the way you do your movie reactions. There are way too many reactors out there that think they're supposed to be talking non-stop. I've seen some of them even just make noise when they can't think of anything. It's totally ridiculous! With you however, you're calm but also inviting, because the things you say have purpose and your smile conveys an openess. Or, like in this video, you may share something of yourself and that makes people feel like they're watching the movie with a friend. Basically, I think you do it exactly right. Best wishes to you.

A most wonderful and sincere reaction, thank you, just subscribed to you.
I might be looking too deep into things, but when Sean is telling Will that no one is perfect including ourselves, and only we have the choice to allow others into our world, speaks volumes to me. As we grow, get older, get wiser, learn through our mistakes, we can only then really choose who we will keep closest to us and who means the most to us and why.
The people I knew when I was 18-25 years old meant the world to me back then but only 1 or 2 remain in my life now. Of course I've gained new friends since then but lost some of those as well. The fact is ..... we're all different and no one is perfect, not only friends but family as well. The knowledge we learn through our lives eventually carves a path as to who is perfect for us and who we want to keep in our world. I take that far more than just a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship and cast a wider net upon friends and family as well. Immediate family is always most important of course, but outside of that, we learn who we can trust, who we can count on, who we can trust, who we want by our side. Flipping the script on this, it makes me want to be one of the people others deem me worthy of wanting in their lives as well.
Just do your best, be kind, be willing to sacrifice if needed for others and you'll all be fine and find the right friends and family for you as well.

There are two kinds of people. Ones who watch the 'Come to California' scene and are confused by Will's actions and those that know exactly what he's doing and why. I'm the latter and it's a bittersweet thing to watch people react to it in the former manner. Because on the one hand it's a little frustrating to see them not 'get it' but on the other hand they don't get it because they're psychologically healthy people without attachment and abandonment issues. In the end I guess I'm glad so few people really 'get it' because it's a painful and lonely way to live.

I honestly thought that the roles should’ve been the other way around… Robin Williams should’ve been the patient, Robert De Niro should’ve been the doctor

This movie is beautiful and i enjoyed your honest reaction so much. Because of Robin Williams i highly recommend "Dead Poets Society" with him and young Ethan Hawk. Its a heartbreaking movie, too. And i am sure you get this of many people here, too.

One of the best scenes here was when his best friend told him to go and fulfill his potential even if it meant not seeing him again. That's a real friend right there.

Funny random observation from a random stranger online who is seeing this random comment a year later:
The first time I watched Community, I absolutely LOVED it. While there are still many things about it I love, I went back and watched it years later, and realized there were quite a few 'lessons' within the episodes that were basically just flying monkey bullshit that people use in real life to excuse/enable narcissistic behavior.
This made more sense when I saw more behind the scenes stuff about Dan Harmon, and how he has major narcissistic tendencies.
A stand-out example is the episode where they make fun Good Will Hunting, and basically say it's a bad movie about a bad friend, because a good friend would never encourage someone close to them to leave (which is very much a narcissistic control technique, where you hold someone back to keep them in your orbit).
Ironically, they later contradicted this entirely in the episode where Glover left the show, and the 'lesson' was that the right thing to do is support your friend, even if they're leaving, which was precisely the 'bad' thing they shit on Good Will Hunting for doing.

16:02 "Were those egg in a jar?" I can't see them here, but yes, probably. Pickled eggs are an old bar food especially popular in New England. Apparently it's a tradition that German immigrants brought over which spread to the English, but it has become much less common these days because bars have improved their ability to prepare tasty food items.

They’re also pretty popular in the US South. Not so much as a bar food, but more of a country food (like something you’d buy in a General Store). Tasty, cheap protein with a long shelf life at room temperature. They’re commonly died red/pink for some reason, historically with beet juice but these days more often with food coloring or a little Kool-Aid.

That movie put Matt Damon on the map! He and Ben Affleck, they wrote this together! Oscars tend to do that to you! And from a young age too! Robin Williams was already madly successful, but he still took the Oscar as well for supporting!

Beautiful reaction. So sorry about your dad.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've never quite been in the trouble Will gets in, but I've had a lot of issues from my past that often haunted me (and still do). This was one of the first movies I ever watched where I got to the end, to Sean telling Will it's not his fault, and I just hysterically sobbed. Because I, like so many of us, just carry SO MUCH and put SO MUCH blame on ourselves for what others have done to us. And I really put myself in Will's shoes and I heard Sean telling me it wasn't MY fault. The things that had been done to me, the abuses, all of it.
The movie has so many great moments. Wonderful comedy. Romance. Drama. It has literally everything. But most of all it has PATIENCE. Sean is patient enough to not try to force his way through Will's defenses because he knows and sees how defensive he is and that he has to show him that he can trust him before he can get in. And I think that's something that a great many of us need in our lives... patience.
Thank you for what you do.
