  • A Maori politician performed an unexpected Haka in the middle of a government proceeding. The co-leader of the Maori Party, Rawiri Waititi, pledged allegiance to his descendants, all young people, and to the country’s founding document, The Treaty of Waitangi, in accordance with Maori practices and values. Then Waititi performed a Haka while walking toward the clerk of Parliament for the government pledge to King Charles III. Inside Edition Digital’s TC Newman has more.

It's their native land, no? Then they should absolutely continue to know/use their native tongue. That doesn't mean they haven't also learned English as well.
Also, I see no problem with anyone speaking their native tongue with family and friends when living in another country, so long as they know that country's language as well, and can converse with the public there. If I lived in another country that didn't speak English, I would learn that language, but I would also continue to speak English at home, and when out and about with family and English speaking friends.

@@steveosullivan4211 your first question is nonsense and shows me you have done no research before asking the question.
They did not arrive in New Zealand first, and originated from the same islands as Maori, no archaeological evidence was ever found to show human habitation before the first Maori arrived.
Also to say (Maori killed them) is not an accurate statement (one tribe killed a lot of them) is more of an accurate statement.
(They did not kill all of them)...
Your second question has nothing to do with the subject matter, so it is irrelevant.

Only in the civilized world is there support for others. In backward civilizations, there is only hatred, war, fury, and death. When Europeans began to civilize some parts of the world in a state of extreme moral degradation, such specimens resisted. When sailors stranded on one of their islands, they were devoured. I thought the world had overcome that stage, but it seems I was mistaken: some people do not want to live civilized lives.

It's pretty cringe to see the Haka done in Parliament though, isn't it supposed to be done outside or in a primitive hut or whatever they had in New Zealand prior to European colonization?

    I absolutely love The Haka.
My old high school has a large Polynesian influence. The football team always performed The Haka after every game. All 50-60 players giving full volume performances was spectacular. The crowd would get INTO it! Even if it was a boring blowout game, I always stayed till the end, so I could see them do it up.
