Your videos are saving me. The previous owner apparently took some of the engine apart, lost the oil injector gear, and put it back together. I guess he mixed the oil and fuel into the gas tank. Parts are about $30 for the whole gear/shaft assembly. Without this I probably would have reassembled it without knowing. Thanks.
Get video, just picked up a 79' KD100. waiting for repair manual, but in the mean time, this is a great explaination of the oil injection system and rotary valve. Thanks
youre better than my chemistry teacher, thank you for explaining. I am trying to rebuild my KE100, it was my first bike and i want so much to ride it again. thanks.
The clear oil lines you have are also a good idea. Easy to see if you have air in The lines. I agree that it the engine came with oil injection you should use it. As long as it's maintained it should work just fine.
Great video ...I just picked up a 1976 KE 175 great shape barn find so I will need to check the oil pump thanks for the how to video I wasn't sure how I was going to test it ! ...Dave In Boston
awesome video, Ive built 2 older 4 strokes and have another one waiting for parts, but never messed with a 2 stroke so i didnt know about oil injection, now I do :)
Great job at explaining with visuals how exactly 2-stroke oil injection works. I have a Yamaha PW50 for my son, and your video really helps me understand exactly how it works. Thanks for sharing.
Hey thanks alot for watcing and glad you enjoyed it! Definetly a good bike to learn on and glad you got the boy interested in bikes and working on them! Thanks again for watching!
Great stuff! didn't know anything about oil injection so this one was awesome info. Have to rip my Suzuki apart so i will be asking you for advice when it's needed. I truly enjoy watching your stuff man. Have a nice weekend pal ! :)
Your video was very informative. I was given a 1984 Kawasaki KE100 and the owner said that the oil pump was not working. When I kicked it over I noticed immediately by the sound of the piston that something was wrong. I pulled the head and examined the cylinder wall/piston and noticed some scarring. I ordered a new piston and am having the cylinder bored out. How do i know the oil pump is working? Does it need to be primed? Is the flow rate of the oil very noticeable? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
very good video. I'm restoring a KS125 and the pump is the same . . . One problem I've had is transmission oil leaking behind the pump then out of the engine (profusely) when engine is running and sitting on the kickstand. I don't think there is a seal involved . . . seems like the only thing holding the oil in the crankcase behind that gear is the gasket. Thanks to this video I'll try a new gasket, even though I hate to take this thing apart and bleed it for about the 4th time!! Anyway, apparently there is crankcase oil circulating around that gear that could leak out behind the pump if the gasket is bad right? THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS
Just bought a real dusty 1978 Kawasaki KE175 ,,The Bike sat in a garage for over 15 years and we have been cleaning it out ,,got it running but im not sure on what oil to run in the oil injection system ,,,can you help me out ,,Everybody tells me something different from 50W to Outboard motor oil ????>By the way, that was one of the best videos Ive seen yet on explaining how things work ,,right on,,thanx.
Hey Johnny, good deal! These are pretty tough old bikes and will take a beating. Bunch of different types of oil out there but I always run just a 2 cycle air cooled oil, lots of price ranges from racing to cheap stuff but I usually run the cheap stuff. Wouldn't think outboard stuff would be good since it's for a liquid cooled engine. Glad the video helped and thanks for watching!
Yah ,I never thought of that liquid cooled thing, Thanx again,Ill stick with the 2 stroke lawn mower type stuff ,My Grandson and I went riding on the weekend ,hes gawt a 90 4 stroker, what a blast...be a little sore from the ride for a few days,,Its been a few years since I rode,, but it was worth it,,,LOL
@m2mark1 Lol... Yeah ususally they get edited, sometimes their riddled with 4 letter words... and there has been alot of editing over the years! ;) Thanks for watching buddy!
@motomanjf Sure didnt come over night! ;) Alot of tearing stuff apart... breaking... destroying and mutilating things and learning alot while I did it! Start with cheap/free stuff and read up as much as possible... and dont be afraid to make mistake ........ Because you will... and you'll learn from that! Thanks for watching bud!
Hi JFrost! Great Video! I just picked up a low mile, 2001 KE100, and it stutters and hesitates from time to time at lower revs, but runs like a champ when I give it some throttle and wind the engine to the higher rpm's. Any thoughts or suggestions please? maybe a carb adjustment? Can you do a video? (I ordered a new filter as its original and the sponge surround on it has decintegrated.) Thanks for your help.
thanks ill try it out i found the throttle cable but i still have one last thing before i can it the old thing to run its missing a carburetor and i dont know what kind to use
@dirtbike51000 Yeah I know what you mean... but you should be able to notice a reasonable difference running straight gas I'd think. Never had one go out on me, probably run the fastest it ever ran just before it siezes up! ;) Thanks for watching!
I'm working on the same engine, but I've no idea about the torque values at which I've to tighten each bolt of this engine. Can you give us any information about the torque specification?
Right there on the carb intake Is there a gasket that goes between the carb and intake I know it shouldn't just fit sloppy on there and I cant find a good illustration in Manual..I would appreciate if you could enlighten me for Im trying to get the bike going for my son and I didn't get a gasket with it so Im concerned about it sealing. So Thanks for you time.
I'm in the process of removing my rotery crank from the crankcase on my 1975 kawasaki G5 100. But I can't get it out of the crankcase housing. I have the rotery valve plate off and now I'm stumped on how to proceed. Tried using a pusher/puller tool and that got it to move a little bit but now it's just stuck and I can't move it at all. I wish I could post a picture so you have a better idea of what I'm talking about. Please help. Thanks!
Been awhile since I've messed with one of these but Pretty sure you'll have to have a press to press out. Sometimes a parts diagram is helpful to be sure. Bikebandit is a huge help for pictures. Thanks for watching!
Pay attention to what he said about taking the pumps off and running pre mix.Not a good idea. Some engines were designed with those pumps to be strictly used. You can fry your engine up eventually.Clean the pump if it has a tight spot,go buy new throttle cable assembly, fix it right.
@jfrost77hd what about anything from 1986-2001. kawasaki hadnt changed anything on the ke100 since 1986. all of the parts are interchangable. i reallyneed a cylinder and cant afford the 315$ for an oem replacement.
i just recently got a 1980 ke100 and i need a throttle cable were do i get it with the two cable adapter thing and what kind of carb can i use on it your help would be appreciated
Hey thanks, well it was stored in an old shipping container in the woods that the floor had rotted out of so yeah it was pretty rough! Thanks for watching!
This really helped me understand how this all works. I’m restoring a 1971 Kawasaki G4 TR100 and had no idea that it’s not premixed.
Thanks for showing it up close and all the different parts
Your videos are saving me. The previous owner apparently took some of the engine apart, lost the oil injector gear, and put it back together. I guess he mixed the oil and fuel into the gas tank. Parts are about $30 for the whole gear/shaft assembly. Without this I probably would have reassembled it without knowing. Thanks.
Thanks for posting. I just picked up a 1990 that sat for 25 years. Got it running in about an hour.
lpd1snipe Good deal, thanks for watching!
Get video, just picked up a 79' KD100. waiting for repair manual, but in the mean time, this is a great explaination of the oil injection system and rotary valve. Thanks
Just about to change gaskets and seals on mine but wanted to understand it first. Thanks for this.
Soooooo glad to find this video. Just traded a Puch moped for a running 74 G3SS and am trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks!
Sounds good, thanks for watching!
youre better than my chemistry teacher, thank you for explaining. I am trying to rebuild my KE100, it was my first bike and i want so much to ride it again. thanks.
Vey nice & practical understanding of oil injection especially with all parts open,inorder2see oil pathways
The clear oil lines you have are also a good idea. Easy to see if you have air in The lines. I agree that it the engine came with oil injection you should use it. As long as it's maintained it should work just fine.

Hey no problem Dave, glad it helped and thanks for watching!
awesome video, Ive built 2 older 4 strokes and have another one waiting for parts, but never messed with a 2 stroke so i didnt know about oil injection, now I do :)

Thanks a lot for the video. I just bought a ke100 which has the oil pump disconnected. I now know how to hook it back up.
Great job, indeed. Kindly also explain how to clean an oil pump and reinstall all the components.
Hey thanks alot for watcing and glad you enjoyed it! Definetly a good bike to learn on and glad you got the boy interested in bikes and working on them! Thanks again for watching!
DAMN at least now i know hot to adjust my oil pump on the RS 125 it's kinda different but now i see what should i do . Thank u have a nice day mate !
this video helped out alot when i had my 1988 kd80x. it was a quick little bike
Very well explained , but I'm looking the one for a skidoo oil pump system thank you .
thank you awesome vid i just got a F7
thank you very informative video i was stumped trying to find oil adjustment setting
always better rich than lean! great video as always!
Thanks for the detail explained, great job done.
general consensus among Tomos moped owners- if the oil injection hasn't already broken, it will.
Great stuff! didn't know anything about oil injection so this one was awesome info. Have to rip my Suzuki apart so i will be asking you for advice when it's needed.
I truly enjoy watching your stuff man. Have a nice weekend pal ! :)
hi bro how did it went? after 9 years lol
@Formula400Pontiac Hey thanks for watching buddy... ask anytime. Havent been on in awhile have you started on it yet? Take it easy man!

Thanks for watching!

@redneck2974 Maybe sometime... that was my first bike though and its scars are alot of memories! lol Thanks for watching!
What do you clean the internals of the pump with? any type of cleaning solvent any rubber gaskets or o rings inside?
Or you can blow into the resivor to prime it
@redneck2974 Thanks Brett... just got a new one the other day! Check out the Suzuki 185
Nice one again but must admit ia had to laugh when you tried to get the cover off one handed and it stuck........makes you human lol

@IHcubcadet Hey thanks for watching man!
do u fill with regular fuel with oil in the fuel or not in the fuel
Man update the bird! i miss those vids!
How about now after 9 years?
Is this Kenny Powers?
weres the firebird?
@jfrost77hd i probably could but would need to bore it about .90 over and cant find a piston and rings to fit it once bored that big
hey whats up? i have a 98 ke100 and need a cylinder, just the cylinder itself. would you have one i would be able topurchase from you?
It's really stoooopid how they put the carb on the side! My buddy has a kdx80 that's missing the carb
Where do you get your parts? I have started on a 1975 kawasaki g5 ke100.
Aaron Libbert how u fill with fuel mix with oil or spreate kawaski ke100
It's called premix ;)
hey man my name is brett im 14 and i do the same stuff u do id like to see u redo that kd175
Dang, that looked like there was a shit-ton of corrosion on those cases. Did someone store the motorcycle in a swamp? Nice work BTW.
Hey thanks, well it was stored in an old shipping container in the woods that the floor had rotted out of so yeah it was pretty rough! Thanks for watching!
watch from 7min to test
