    Thank you for this video. My son just turned 3 and is nonverbal. Potty training has been a STRUGGLE. He is one of those kids that won't go when you put him on the potty, and will go as soon as a clean pull up is on. 😔 I'm going to try some of these tips soon. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏾

    I am a new subscriber and I am very glad that I found you and your family. Our youngest son is on the spectrum but he has also a big development delay. He is 5 and nonverbal. We are starting potty training now but we want to take it slowly. Thank you much for sharing your experience and tips.
    Greetings from Portugal

    My son is 3 and is mostly non-verbal. We've been struggling for 6 months since he started showing interest in the bathroom but he just doesn't understand the concept. Every bit of advice or article I read was for kids that already communicate so I was feeling discouraged until I came across your videos. We will definitely be trying everything you suggested!

    Thank u for the video. I’m beginning stages of potty training my son who is diagnosed with autism. The video gave a starting point. Nobody gets anywhere in life w/o help from someone else.

    Where can I find picture prompts like the one you have in the restroom and your emotions poster?

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emotions poster i got from Amazon. I have it linked in the description box.
      The picture prompts I made myself. I printed out the image and laminated it

    We are starting today my son is 3 non verbal but seems to be able to pick up routines ok.. of course he never likes them at first so we are nervous… we are thinking about sitting him down every hour to try to go…. Being non verbal how does your son let you know when he has to go?

    My 3.9 years old son stim a lot and is quite hyperactive though he has brilliant eye contact. The only thing that worries me the most is that he still pee and poo in his pants. Hope what you said will work with my son too

    my daughter is like cristine like she also love strings play with my hairs but one thing now a days she is being so short tempered she get frustrated with anything she dnt like or out of routine things that make me so depressed

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that’s normal. My son has days where he is happy and laughing and joyful and then he’ll have days like today where he cries if I hug him gives me pouts for no reason and seems anxious. Stay positive and things will look up 💙

    I have a question My Don is 4 yrs old I’ve been potty training him month ago he was peeing in the toilet but now he is holding on when I put his underwear on he pees and takes it off and wants to sit on the bathroom again
    I think he’s getting confused 🤷‍♀️
    What can I do ? He’s fine sitting on the toilet 🚽 flush it washing and drying his hand but he is holding the pee until I put underwear or until he can hold it

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is there a reward for peeing in the toilet (iPad, candy,favorite toy?)
      Potty regression can be hard. I understand that struggle! 😞
      Sometimes having a visual about the potty steps helps as well

      Has he ever had a successful void in the toilet? If he has do you give him a highly preferred reinforcer? Like food/toy only when he goes in the toilet?

      Rocking The Spectrum that good, we don’t do ABA here it something UK dint do much and private. Through I think we are thinking about it as I know parents who had success.

      That’s sad to hear, We have had great experiences with ABA I wish it was more readily available to families 😔💙

    What's the right age to start training?

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every child is different. I looked for potty cues liked staying dry. My son didn’t show a lot of signs but he still benefited from having a routine and little by little we were able to get more voids in the toilet

    I love your videos, helps me feel like I’m not alone in this journey ❤️ my son is 3 and was recently diagnosed in the beginning of this year, he is non verbal. I have not yet started potty training him but I do want to start soon, I just don’t know if he’s ready. I don’t take him to ABA since it’s not covered by Medicaid in my area and I can’t afford it 😕 I have no idea where to start but your video was so informative I will definitely give these tips a try 😊

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment! A lot of states offer potty training classes for free or for a small fee. I would google autism potty class in my state and attend one if possible. They are often taught by a bcba(board certified behavioral analyst) I went to one that was very informative and a lot of the bcba’s will do a home visit to assist you in training !
      It also helps to play videos or read books about using the potty. Write down how often your child is wetting their diaper so you get an idea if they are able to keep a diaper dry for a good amount of time. 💙

      Rocking The Spectrum thank you so much for replying I will definitely look into those classes, and thank you for the tips. Wish me luck lol 💙🤞🏼

      I really started when he turned 3 but it’s different for every child. I looked for cues like staying dry for long periods of time and potty dances.
