i’ve never been even remotely interested in college football. but after attending a&m i truly cannot express how hyped i am to watch our aggies play. the atmosphere in college station is second to none. it changes you man
as a current ut student who grew up in college station, i do feel like the rivarly is a little more one sided. here at ut most people's hatred is directed towards ou while in college station there is a large vitrol towards ut that's not really felt anywhere else. i do think though that with the games being played again starting next year the rivarly from our point of view will pick up a lot, but if you ask a lot of people on campus they'll say ou's the bigger rival compared to a&m
Aggies gonna prob get mad at me but you're right in th sense... Aggies dont really have a rivalry outside of UT. Like Bama? Its not even a rivalry for them its just a race to see if they or other SEC teams can beat bama. Other than that its def one sided as Texas cares more about OU than Aggies.... rightfully so since they dont play each other consistently.
As an Aggie I can’t wait to see Texas come to the SEC. Hopefully it can become a great rivalry matchup for years to come (especially when we get rid of ole ball and chain)
I would love to see the Texas rivalry with A&M renewed. My eldest cousin, a UT grad, is married to an A&M alumni. I think they’d love to see the rivalry renewed, too. Thanks for the video.
Also, the few I know that go to TU are good people. Smart people, I get along with them. But the majority of their fans never attended. Hence the saying, if you have an A&M shirt on you probably went there. If you have a TU shirt on you probably went to Wal-Mart..
Moving to the SEC, and Johnny Manziel showing up just in time, was a huge financial boost. Donors opened up their wallets and A&M dropped more than a billion dollars on facilities, players, coaches, etc. On field results have been disappointing, but otherwise things for A&M have been great since moving to the SEC. As for the UT-A&M game, everyone wanted to play, but it was a game of chicken. Each wanted the other to come crawling back so they could capitalize on that. So nothing happened. It has always been humorous to see Aggies tripping over themselves saying they don't care about UT.

It's only because it's historically based, with Kansas being the free state and Missouri the slave state during Bleeding Kansas. There isn't widespread chattel slavery anymore, so now it just seems petty between the two. At least UT vs. A&M is very much preppy school vs. ag school. @@volbound1700
Underrated crazy detail here is how the Pac-12 very nearly would have added UT and A&M at the same time as Colorado and Utah. Which would have made them the first 14-team "super conference" at the time, which are now causing CFB's current seismic paradigm shift. The 2023 PAC-16 could have been in the catbird seat for expansion and helped destroy the Big 12 and ACC, and yet now they're the ones being raided for spare parts. All thanks to the egos of Texas and Larry Scott. Crazy "what if" moment.
In my opinion and based off being from DFW, most of the school rivalries within Texas is not really about football or stuff like the LHN. It’s just about being the best overall. The football game is just a day you get to put your money where your mouth is. I think it’s way more than just about football.
Like college rivalries everywhere, I think it boils down to personal pride, you can walk into work Monday morning and tell your coworker who went to the other place, "We beat your ass!"
Unexpected my rear end. Looks like someone didn’t do enough research on the Longhorn network it was originally going to be the lone star network up until A&M decided it wanted no part in that deal then came back later after it was a done deal to become the Longhorn network. Goodness the Aggie Bias is strong with this one. As an LSU/Texas Fan this makes me laugh.
I really missed this rivalry and the game during thanksgiving break. As an OU fan I loved when this game had Big 12 Championship implications. I don’t miss having to play at Kyle Field.
Idk if I'd call it big brother little brother, but was definitely a sibling rivalry. UT's rival has always been OU. Even bad seasons we didn't care that much about if we beat OU. Every Texan could get behind sticking it to the school that poached Texan players
OU is on the same level as Texas. Aggies wish they had that kind of success, but they are not a national program. It would be great if A&M could get more wins and get the rivalry with Texas up to a yearly top 10 matchup, but A&M has to quiet their fan base. They need let Jimbo have more time. 🤘
Facts. A one point win over OU is a million times better to longhorn fans than beating A&M by 50. It’s always been OU and UT fighting for a title shot anyway, A&M hasn’t had that level of competition in quite some time. No slight to A&M, but the success levels of OU compared to them make it easily more important to beat OU
@@AJXOXO-vz1pn this is probably sarcasm about giving Jimbo more time but he has had more time than Charlie Strong or Tom Herman had... and a ton more money to buy out.

I gotta say the guy who did this video! This is the first time to see one, but YOU SIR! Are VERY WELL SPOKEN and seem to be very knowledgeable! Awesome video!
What is funny is that Texas started to go down hill with performance on the field when they signed the Longhorn Network. $$$ advantage in CFB hasn't translated to better success on the field so far. Look at SEC this year getting beat up by ACC teams like FSU over LSU or Miami over Texas A&M. Pac12 has had strongest league so far and it is done after this year and a lot of its teams are in debt.
Omissions from the video: - Longhorn Network originally intended to be co-branded between UT/TAMU (aggies said no) - Tom Herman publicly calling to renew the rivalry, Ross Bjork (A&M AD) publicly saying no - Texas AD Chris Del Conte trying to schedule A&M as an annual non-conference opponent in and the Aggies saying no

Better then that insane asylum in the middle of a homeless encampment they call Austin. If it wasnt for Franklin's, there'd be nothing worth going there for. @stischer47
Shout JTuck for securing years of bragging rights. Can’t wait to keep the streak alive
I’ve never drafted or had him on any fantasy team - knowing that it definitely could help my team bc I will always harbor hate for the man. Gig’Em forever!
I forget, was "JTuck" the Texas graduate referee that threw that bogus personal foul flag?
@@jasontenner5093 That call was unfortunate for sure and I would like a world where that isn't even called today because he didn't have that much force in it and it was clearly not intentional. (That and calls like that influencing the game in the final minutes of a game is so annoying).
That being said, Helmet-helmet collisions were penalized long before that game, intentional or not (just looked it up, and they took out the intentional requirement out in 2005). Dude should've stayed alert instead of coasting with his helmet down. The hit was a full 2 steps after he dropped the ball and might've been worse had he caught it and kept speed.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to playing y'all again and also looking forward to having SEC refs instead of the B12 refs that are openly trying to rig every game against both us and OU. Hook'em.
@@Jemuzu12- Wow, I must admit I wasn't expecting a rational and well-reasoned reply to my comment. :) I'm excited about the rivalry being restored as well, just a bit bitter about living with that loss for the past decade. It will be nice when bragging rights are earned annually again instead of arguing with my Longhorn friends about who would hypothetically win.
@@jasontenner5093y’all are still crying about that? A flag thrown on first down that was obviously intentional head-to-head contact? This is why people laugh at y’all: You never win anything and then kick and scream like babies crying that everything is unfair and the big meanies in Austin are cheating 😂😂
As a Longhorn fan (UT '69), OU was a special game with a huge out-of-state rival. However, there was nothing like the game against A&M for the statewide bragging rights. Our two fight songs STILL start off dissing the other.
Good to have this rivalry back old timer.

i’ve never been even remotely interested in college football. but after attending a&m i truly cannot express how hyped i am to watch our aggies play. the atmosphere in college station is second to none. it changes you man
as a current ut student who grew up in college station, i do feel like the rivarly is a little more one sided. here at ut most people's hatred is directed towards ou while in college station there is a large vitrol towards ut that's not really felt anywhere else. i do think though that with the games being played again starting next year the rivarly from our point of view will pick up a lot, but if you ask a lot of people on campus they'll say ou's the bigger rival compared to a&m
Ah, the ole TAMU vs UT rivalry. Literally been over a century
As an Aggie I can’t wait to see Texas come to the SEC. Hopefully it can become a great rivalry matchup for years to come (especially when we get rid of ole ball and chain)
Glad This Rivalry is Returning Once Texas Joins The SEC!
I would love to see the Texas rivalry with A&M renewed. My eldest cousin, a UT grad, is married to an A&M alumni. I think they’d love to see the rivalry renewed, too. Thanks for the video.
You've finally got your wish! The rivalry is getting renewed!
That marriage wont last long with the rivalry renewed

Probably helps that the narrator wrote the script himself and is a pretty damn good one at that
Finally someone with a voice says (most of) the thing I've been saying since we left. Watching this was cathartic
So glad I can see the first Sec matchup between the 2 as a senior at A&M. Me and the boys already have a ticket pulling game plan a year in advance 😂
Also, the few I know that go to TU are good people. Smart people, I get along with them. But the majority of their fans never attended.
Hence the saying, if you have an A&M shirt on you probably went there. If you have a TU shirt on you probably went to Wal-Mart..
As a UT alum, have fun!

Now we are getting to the nitty gritty. This rivalry goes hard in the paint down here in Tejas cowboy 🤠
Another great video love the content guys 🙏🤌🤘
They’re going to play each other next year, so I guess the beef stops now.
Welcome back, Secret Base. We missed you.
And vice versa
@@nutella7891 Fair enough, though I find Aggies are more insistent about their not caring than the other way.
@@knutthompson7879 Texas fans literally went out of their way to say OU was their real rival. Turns out OU is just their butt-buddy.

We need an Oklahoma-Oklahoma State beef history now that their doing the exact same thing Texas and A&M did. Also, as a proud North Dakotan we need a NDSU-UND beef history but I understand that’s probably not likely
It’s Odd That This Rivalry and The Bedlam Game Will Be Very Different Next Year Once Texas and Oklahoma Join The SEC!
man, this North Dakota beef would be cool...
I wanna understand more about the Sioux devotion, especially in hockey.
I heard that there is a major black market of jerseys with the Sioux logo for North Dakota.
Another thing to go deep into is the indigenous mascot and nickname situation. What I heard so far makes me really divided into the issue

@@A.I.P519 Dang and The Rivalry Was One Sided in Football For Years!
Well done! Can’t wait to see this game, again!
When it comes to Texas A&M, I don't think there's a single team in the entire world of sports whose fans have given so much and received so little in return.
They haven't been relevant on the national stage since before World War II. They have almost no conference championships. They've played in very few significant bowl games. Yet they have one of the best fanbases in all of sports. And I say that as a lifelong Texas fan.
This is so real
Yeah people actually get irritated and confused when they see fans cheering on a&m even if they have underachieved. Say what you want but a&m fans are actually the most loyal to their team. They honestly deserve better.
But we're rich! So who cares. ❤
ay, we good at basketball and baseball though
Texas has a top recruiting class every year, and yet has only 2 Big12 titles in 25 years….and 1 national title in 50 years. Texas was good during segregation, and then again in the 2000s when they were still OU’s b*tch even then.

College football Beef Histories are the greatest videos, especially for some of the less nationally significant rivalries. Like we all know Michigan-Ohio State because its big on a national scale but learning about A&M-Texas or UGA-GT (from a Bulldog fan) is what college football is about!
This is a really well put together video. Well researched. I remember going through this but not really understanding it. Thank you for this.
I would love to see a college vs college beef history between my Mizzou Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks.
I really don't understand that one. Kansas is still mad at Mizzou for leaving the Big12 but they would have done the exact same move at the time if they had the chance. Big12 was sinking ship and Mizzou jumped on the life raft.
A&M was established in 1876, and Texas was established in 1883. A&M is the big brother.
Technically only built in 1876. Established by the Morrill Land Grant Act in 1862.

Something that’s not mentioned in the comments enough: the game next year is going to be one of THE most toxic CFB games that’s ever been seen
Oh yeah
Actually, historically, A&M was the bigger rival for Texas. But of course, with all the pettiness, feeling inadequate and bolting to the SEC, Oklahoma has taken full advantage. Now the Red River shootout is bigger than ever. How’s that manufactured LSU rivalry goin, Aggies? 😂

As a current Longhorn I’m incredibly excited to play A&M next year, but I would like to state for the record that they’ve never been our main rival. The Red River Rivalry against OU (OU sux) has always been the main event.
This is going to become just as big as Michigan vs Ohio State and UNC vs Duke. 3 major rivalries to look forward to! At least for me.

Texas not wanting to play fair? Texas??? Never!
I'm from the state of Florida so I support Miami but when it comes to the state of Texas if I ever moved there A&M Aggies all the way
I gotta say the guy who did this video! This is the first time to see one, but YOU SIR! Are VERY WELL SPOKEN and seem to be very knowledgeable! Awesome video!
There was also the small matter of a Heisman Trophy being won when A&M joined the SEC that also helped…
This aged well.
I was at that 2011 game, that penalty was BS, the ref literally has loads of pictures with Texas gear on, he's a crook
Omissions from the video:
- Longhorn Network originally intended to be co-branded between UT/TAMU (aggies said no)
- Tom Herman publicly calling to renew the rivalry, Ross Bjork (A&M AD) publicly saying no
- Texas AD Chris Del Conte trying to schedule A&M as an annual non-conference opponent in and the Aggies saying no
A&M was tired of being owned by them 😂😂
