From a UT fan's perspective, the network will always be the single biggest blunder in Texas football history destroying an entire rivalry over greed and marketing.
It makes me glad that the network is going to die off and return to normalcy with UT and A&M playing each other again.

I am a diehard Longhorn fan, but I am a Die Harder fan of Texas, the nation. I have worked tirelessly to grow to love A&M fans and focus my rivalry hate northward to solely OU. I have great friends now that are A&M fans and root for them causally when they play other teams from other states.

Moving to the SEC, and Johnny Manziel showing up just in time, was a huge financial boost. Donors opened up their wallets and A&M dropped more than a billion dollars on facilities, players, coaches, etc. On field results have been disappointing, but otherwise things for A&M have been great since moving to the SEC. As for the UT-A&M game, everyone wanted to play, but it was a game of chicken. Each wanted the other to come crawling back so they could capitalize on that. So nothing happened. It has always been humorous to see Aggies tripping over themselves saying they don't care about UT.

They haven't been relevant on the national stage since before World War II. They have almost no conference championships. They've played in very few significant bowl games. Yet they have one of the best fanbases in all of sports. And I say that as a lifelong Texas fan.

Underrated crazy detail here is how the Pac-12 very nearly would have added UT and A&M at the same time as Colorado and Utah. Which would have made them the first 14-team "super conference" at the time, which are now causing CFB's current seismic paradigm shift. The 2023 PAC-16 could have been in the catbird seat for expansion and helped destroy the Big 12 and ACC, and yet now they're the ones being raided for spare parts. All thanks to the egos of Texas and Larry Scott. Crazy "what if" moment.

Remember those 1917 and 1918 Aggies? They were dominant.

I’m an A&M student with a lot of friends who go to tu and I have to admit that at this point Aggies care a lot more than the Longhorns.
Aggies will make the horns down sign and say things like saw ‘em off, whereas tu students never mention us. And you’ll get some weird looks and get heckled if you wear longhorn merch on A&M’s campus but nobody gave me a second look when I wore my A&M hoodie on tu’s campus.

Lol. Wut? A&M people don’t give af. Texas is who has been begging to play the last 5 years since Jimbo spiked recruiting, after A&M was who wanted to play up until that point.

And I’m not surprised a bunch of liberals at Texas campus didn’t say anything to you. Nearly half their students are not even American.
