- This beef came to light with the accusation heard round the world: Texas A&M bought every player in their 2022 recruiting class. Nick Saban launched a verbal tirade against the NIL and threw Jimbo Fisher under the bus in the process.
What unfolded was unprecedented; a response now iconic as far as press conference memes go. But the reality that came to light in the following days was that this beef had been simmering from decades. So, who's hungry?

@@sosa3559 Jimbo only has 5 seasons actively coaching, but A&M paid him to coach 10. Then when they got a fluke win in 7OT against LSU, their TEXAS A&M education gave him an extension.
He only coached 5 but they paid for 13 seasons. So you couldn’t even coach as many seasons as Saban had natties. Even worse.

Never forget Kevin Sumlin was 42-16 as Texas A&M's coach. And they booted him for Jimbo who has gone 41-22 with the Aggies.

Sumlin had the best player in A&M's history. Say whatever you want about Sumlin, but his success had less to do with him, and more to do with the leftovers from the Sherman era. Fisher isn't perfect, I'll be the first to tell you that if he loses more than 3 games this year, he should be gone - but he's upped A&M's potential more than any coach since Slocum, even if it hasn't been realized.

Sumlin had one good year and then basically went 8-5 for the rest of his stay. Jimbo had one good year after rebuilding the program and has also been mediocre otherwise. At least Jimbo has the COVID derailed everything excuse.
@@holstorrsceadus1990 I'm not sure he does. He's a great recruiter, and has won at the highest echelons of CFB. I think he's got a 1 year leash and it's probably done if he can't win 10+ games before the end of next year.

Y'all I've been watching this channel for a loong time, and love everything about it. Especially the high production value. However I feel that's undermined with y'alls audio, it honestly sounds like cheap mic would serve you better than the setup each narrator is using. Will never stop me from watching, it's just jarring to hear the differences between videos in such an amazing channel!

Just came to see if anyone else was thinking this. I had to turn it off, unfortunately, because I can't hear very much of it without rewinding and/or checking the captions. I had to kick someone out of bed once because she kept mumbling things I couldn't understand. Sitting here on this page with the video paused, whining to stranger - who could be dead by now for all I know - about whispering, I feel lonelier than I did that night. I won't forget this.

Watching this 4 months after it you made the video and Jimbo didn’t even last the 2023 season and Saban retired at the end of the season. Jimbo underachieved and what a career for Saban.
I may have my disagreements with how Jimbo runs the team, but at the end of the day I still go to the school and root for the team and I will always side with him over Saban and I will definitely side with him over Kiflin

At LSU Jimbo wanted to run things his way when he wasn't the head coach. Saban's way won the championship. Lane Kiffin did the same thing...but he actually had the balls to run a gimmick play in garage time in a game and got lit up for it on the sidelines in front of the world. It's not the offensive coordinator's team. Jimbo and Lane contributed immensely and those championship couldn't have happened without them, but Saban was the leader. Being butthurt doesn't make Jimbo a hero or a villain. Being jealous of the best college coach to ever live doesn't make him a loser. Calling a press conference to throw a tantrum is kinda sad but kinda understandable. I was glad Jimbo beat Saban before Lane eventually does...likely this season.

Rewinder for texas a&m UCLA 2017
So I can tell this story now because my brother passed away a few weeks ago. My brother was 30 years old, and a big time weed grower/trafficker/seller. He made tons of money, and was very flashy. We live in south florida, so he would go out with really wealthy and famous people every weekend. One day he asks me if I know this football coach named “Nick something” (he didn’t watch football). I said “Nick Saban???” And he says “yes! That’s the guy!” So he proceeds to tell me this story about how he ended up at this private mansion party, and it was the old white football coach’s house. He told me he partied with the dude, did a bunch of blow, got wasted, and they all basically had orgies with a bunch of 20 something year old girls. He told me that Saban really liked him because he didn’t know who he was, and because my brother treated him like just another guy. My brother had brought a backpack full of money and coke to this party and so he asked Saban if he had somewhere he could put his bag where no one would touch it. So Saban apparently gave him the code to his personal safe in his room, to hide his bag. My brother said there must have been over 2 million in the safe, with a ton of jewelry and gold. I think he wanted to test my brother to see if he was as honest and genuine as he came off. Cuz my brother was extremely likable. He made friends everywhere he went. There were over 300 people at his funeral. But I also know that he didn’t care about how famous someone was, and most of the time, he didn’t even know if the person was famous. He’s also not a liar. So I fully believe the story and details he shared with me. Especially asking me if I knew this “old white football coach named Nick.” Lol. Man I miss my brother. He was a legend.

I kind of liken this Nick Saban vs. Jimbo Fisher beef to the Paul Brown vs. Bill Walsh feud, when Walsh was an assistant coach for Brown from 1968-1975 with the Cincinnati Bengals. Brown and Walsh hated each other’s guts. So much so that when Brown retired at the end of the 1975 season, he appointed Bill “Tiger” Johnson as his successor - despite the fact that Walsh might have been more qualified to be a head coach. On top of that, Brown did every thing he could to prevent Walsh from getting an NFL head coaching job.
I don’t know if the Saban-Fisher feud rivals the Brown-Walsh feud in this regard, but I think both these “beefs” are about a coach trying to get the best of their former protégé in any which way possible. That’s just my opinion.
I didn’t know Walsh and Brown had beef like that. Guess Walsh got the last word cause San Francisco hired his as head coach and he won’t two Super Bowls against the bengals.
Walsh, however, beat the Bengals, owned by Paul Brown, twice, in the Super Bowl. In that case, the protege EASILY won the beef.

It’s weird that people claim this stuff (yeah it happens) but then act like Bama is somehow doing it way more than any other team and just not gettin caught? And no, the NCAA was not “protecting” them.
I feel like this explained so much of why Saban is one of the greatest if not the greatest college coaches of all time and a bust in the NFL. His need for control and structure is perfect for kids needing that discipline to come together but his inability to divert for anyone else wouldnt fly in the NFL
Tell me you don't actually know anything about Sabans coaching in the NFL without telling me you dont know anything. You do realize Saban coached in the NFl for almost 10 years, right? If you specially mean Miami; Miami was like a 4-12 team the year before Saban. His first year they 9-7 and i think 7-9 his second year. The year after he left they went 1-15 with the same roster. lol. and if thats not enough, go watch interviews with his old Miami players and see what they say about him. Sometimes it's better not to repeat things you heard on youtube or saw in a reddit comment if you don't actually know understand what you're talking about.
btw saban coached 6 years in the NFL 4 as a defensive coordinator in Cleveland and 2 as a head coach in MIA and only had 2 winning record seasons as a coach but good to know you just pull stats out of your ass to feel superior 😂😂😂
They both grew up in West Virginia and knew each other as kids. A older guy I worked with at WVU coached them back when. I wish he was still living so I could ask him more details about them.
I think these SEC bylaws that limit coaches beefing with each other are ridiculous. It's great drama, and hypes up the games. Look what Deion is doing in Colorado, he's making games "personal" and hyping up rivalries by being outspoken and calling things out he doesn't like, and their game ratings are sky high. I say let these coaches beef. This isn't tennis. It's football. Smack talk is fun.

I understand the decision to cut Sumlin loose. My problem is with the clowns that signed Jimbo to a contract that we cannot realistically afford to get out from. It’s a disaster born of hubris and foolhardy leadership. 🤡💩
Well at the time of the extension Jimbo had just finished with A&M's highest AP ranking since 1939, LSU hired away his pal Scott Woodward to be their AD, and was looking for a new HC after Orgeron. If anything it was a master class by Jimbo's agent playing LSU and A&M off each other.
The dumbass part was the buyout clause I agree though. That's thanks to A&M Chancellor Sharp for mid AD hire Ross Bjork from Ole Miss

The entire state of Louisiana has a beef with Saban because of his flip flop between staying with the Dolphins and then taking whatever money Alabama offered to him in 2006. There was also what he did during free agent QB Drew Brees’s visit to Miami. A free agent visit should never ever include medical testing which is why we were happy that Drew signed with us but at the same time we were angry that his health ever came into question especially from the Nicktator who didn’t have a clue what he was doing in Miami. Now it’s understandable that if Alabama offers you millions of dollars to be their head coach you take it in a heartbeat no questions asked but I believe it was how many longtime LSU fans took the news and let’s just say that they called Saban worse than what I called him. Heck they changed his last name to Judas which is obviously saying a lot.
I also think LSU fans should be grateful for saban because he helped bring them their first national title in a long time
The thing about drew Brees signing with the dolphins was that they had him signed but the dolphins team doctors failed his physical even though there was another doctor (Dr Jimmy Andrews) who said that brees was gonna be fine. Obviously Saban’s tenure in Miami was a mess, but a 15-17 record is not that bad compared to how bad urban Meyer and bobby Petrino were in the NFL

But then he left us for a division rival and now stands in our way of success every season. I respect the hell out of him, but I hope he retires soon. He’s tormented us enough.
@jakebuchsbaum3348 It still upsets me to this day because if a guy like Dr. Andrews is telling you that Drew is going to be good health wise then you should at the very least sign him over what your team doctors say. Immediate test results will not tell you what will happen in the future and because we all saw what Drew has become which is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, Saban and his “doctors” have been ridiculed for their dumb decision to let Drew sign with the Saints. Apparently being a Bill Belicheck disciple doesn’t make you immune to making bad offseason moves.
The Drew Brees mistake didn’t help him in Miami. He’s not an NFL coach. Players run certain organizations. Sabin found out quickly, that the players will talk back, owners will back high values jersey sales, and wins. Do not be fooled by certain things. For instance does anyone really think the Jets have a shot? The Packers let Rodgers go without hesitation. The Jets need more buzz. Sabin controls the athletes more in college. NIL has changed it a bit. I am from Louisiana, so I’m an LSU fan. It’s no different in Tennessee, I’ve been here 2 years. Fans get frustrated with the Vols as well. I’ll say this though Sabin is a great coach. Dumbo Fisher can’t even shave his face consistently.

The dialog volume is low and so the background audio winds up boosted into a disconcerting, almost subsonic rumble.
