Used to breed the peacocks!! Yep takes too long.... nowadays there are so many hybrid strains I don’t think I’d go that route.. love the aceis and rustys though! My favorite are the labidochromis in particular the perlmutt which are not as common compared to the yellow labs.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics You are helping me carry on my late father's legacy of keeping aquariums. Thank you for making such informative videos and helping me hone my skills! =)
Greetings. Thanks for the video. I like the way you get right into the video. I lose interest quickly when there are long introductions but not with your channel. Great breeding options. Have a great weekend.👍😀
Love your videos dude! Just joined the GCCA I don’t even own any cichlids but am in the area lol. I’m real into cold water fish and natives, been breeding rice fish, flagfish (I love and hate these fish, some of them are straight up evil) shrimps, endlers for a while, attempting to breed Pygmy sunfish (I actually think they’re breeding but I have no idea they never leave leaf litter) and am about to start rainbow shiners ! Your shelldweller tank has really inspired me though and I’m about to set some up just have to finish the honey do list before I get more tanks.
Always great choices. I wish you could see all the list I've written down from your videos 🤣 someday I'm going to have the incredible Fish Room! But you guys sure have made me enjoy my fish corner for sure! It would be nice to have a few of these breeding projects that could just support my habit by being able to trade or sell a few fish and plants! And it's the best reference library for when I'm researching anything I need to look for in this hobby! You have a video to cover it! I hope you all have an awesome day! Thank you for sharing!🌿🐟🌿💚🙏
Thanks for another informative video. I'm really enjoying learning about the different breeding options for common tank sizes. My challenge is how manage keeping guppy strains looking right without having to run multiple tanks of the same fish!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I think what has traditionally turned ne away from them as a whole is that high sloping face/forehead. But those last ones didn't seem to have that characteristic and color was amazing.
Jason, this is off topic but I had some parasite in my angelfish tank...used higher temp, salt and general cure. Never saw white spots but I figured it would not hurt. Angelfish returned to healthy state. However I would like to use my python to clean my discus tank. Sounded risky to me so what sterilization for python would you suggest I use? Would flushing it out with hot tap water do it since it has chlorine in it? Thanks for the help.
The geophagus are lovely. Do you know why mother nature decided to add "tendrils" to their tails and fins? I'm curious. Have a great day and thank you for all of the very informative vids! Best regards.

Hi are the 2nd set of fish he describes the blue males with the orange females , are they known as convict cichlids ? I’m from the uk would love to try breed them , are they mouth bearing breed ?
I like to follow the general rule of thumb - if the filter is keeping up with mechanical filtration it's big enough. The biological side will almost always be sufficient in a cycled tank.
Hi , I have a question about the water . I've never added anything to my water it's been a few years now and never had a problem , should I start using now?
I wouldn’t mind the brown females even if duller in color and even if I wouldn’t be interested in breeding , I know I am pretty unusual as most people would prefer males but I’ve noticed that with fish, just like with birds and mammals females are less aggressive . My male tiger barbs are a pain in the a....e , I wish I would have gotten only females lol .
Ya, I don't do intros because I find them slightly annoying when I watch a video - especially if it's a channel I watch a lot. It's something I tolerate, but find from a viewers perspective, unnecessary when I watch videos. :-)

Some great ideas for a great sized tank.

In some cases the hybrids bring in more money than the wild-type species. Not saying it's good or bad, but I have noticed that at swaps and auctions.
I was just looking through your videos last night for a video like this! Thank you !!

That can be a real challenge. You almost have to have multiple tanks just to separate the breeders from awesome offspring from the average offspring.
I Got 2x 50 gal. that will be available soon and I'll definitly be looking into this.
Really love the Electric Blue Accra’s, but you definitely saved the best for last, the Geophagus Tapajos are stunning 🤓
They are some of my favorite!
Wonderful info on some incredible fish for sure! Have a great day Mark!!🙏🌿🐟💚
@@marypaigeflynn4512 would love to get either of these fish, but would mean another tank, maybe be one day. Hope you are well 👋
I got the 10,000 th like, i time travelled ,,,,,, its a long story.

I would add some danios, barbs and rainbows for 40 breeder,
Congrats on your return from the future!
Your star Sapphires deserve a bigger tank! They are so beutiful, they are great breeders
Their next move is into a 75 gallon once I can get fish moved around.

I've never had much interest in geos before but, those taps were pretty spectacular. I'm still in love with EB Acaras though.

I would bleach it, then run hot water through it. Finally I would make sure it thoroughly dries for a week or two. That should do it!

Thank you! It’s a really cool feature of these fish for sure!
Do you think a pair of Geo. Tapajos will work in 29G tank with some tetras? Thank you.
I personally wouldn't put one in anything less than a 40 breeder.
I have a trio of geophagus tapajos and and trio of geophagus cupido. I’m hoping they are able to breed. They are by far my favorite fish. They have great personality.
I hope they breed for you!

Geo geo!
Geo geo geo!!!
(Clap clap clap)
Does anybody know what kind of peacock is at 4:53?
That is a Eureka Red Cichlid!
Thanks so much!
Would it be possible to breed a pair of gymnogeophagus balzanii in a 40 breeder? They’re roughly the same size and temperament as the red head tapajos
Should be ok
Hi are the 2nd set of fish he describes the blue males with the orange females , are they known as convict cichlids ? I’m from the uk would love to try breed them , are they mouth bearing breed ?
Those are saulosi cichlids.
Just curious, what size is your fish room ?
I don't remember exactly, but I think it is approximately 15 x 11 in one room and maybe 20 x 15 on the other side?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I didn't know two rooms. Which one is the video room?
Is it true with oranda the bigger filteration the and the more air is better to?
I like to follow the general rule of thumb - if the filter is keeping up with mechanical filtration it's big enough. The biological side will almost always be sufficient in a cycled tank.
Ok thank you so much.
I have a colony of multies in my 40 breeder do you think I could add cyprichromis leptosoma in there as?
You can, but you may see fry survival rates go down.
Hi , I have a question about the water . I've never added anything to my water it's been a few years now and never had a problem , should I start using now?
The only thing I add is water conditioner to neutralize chlorine.
I wouldn’t mind the brown females even if duller in color and even if I wouldn’t be interested in breeding , I know I am pretty unusual as most people would prefer males but I’ve noticed that with fish, just like with birds and mammals females are less aggressive . My blue acara just payed eggs with me electric blue acara today
Has anyone been able to sell to fish stores these days? Mine won’t take ‘em
Yes, stores in my area are still buying fish.
