Joe I know you’re going to have a kick starter problem because I seen a washer missing when you pulled the case off you will see the surface of the case you pulled off is shiny it needs a thin washer to go up against the kick starter, When you go to kick that bike over it pushes up against the case and without that little washer the gears will skip. I know this because I spent a few hours trying to fix that issue so look on the parts diagram get that little washer I promise you will be happy i told you this!!

  • @rigguyjt

You've come a long way Joe. You're taking the time to diagnose problems instead of just making starting it up your main priority. You never know what's lurking in these mystery motors. Good job. By the way, if that water pump shaft has any slight grooves in it, I'd order that up as well as the seals because an old shaft will just destroy the new pump seals. Have fun.

    Everyone loves Wiseco.
I was 15 had too take 4 buses to get my piston rings,
Obviously 1 trip to order another too pick up. I have always used Wiseco but man I gotta say there’s nothing like the abuse the stock piston can take.

finally a dirt bike, be defo looking at the parts fische as that kickstart is
missing a washer and that split thrust washer on the clutch doesn’t make any sense( although i have not built a Honda yet).
sure you can get this looking good
with a load of time and cash. from what i see with hondas they always go crusty round the water pump magnesium covers don’t like
    water and antifreeze

I have 2 crs -1, my 85, i kept my 89. my 85 was a beast, it hit really hard on the low end, it shifted pretty darn good, and the suspenders were pretty good for the time. I put on 86 cartrage forks and it rode like a dream. I had some bills to pay so I sold it to a buddy, that odd device you saw under the water pump is for your automatic torque amplification chamber, Atac for short. Hang on to it, they are collecting in value. Good finde bruh!

I swear. All the good vintage bikes are on the West coast Or all the hoarders grab them up!. Either way! Last YR i could have gotten a 1-Owner Orig 1974 Suzuki TM400 (Cyclone) Widow-Maker Bike for $400. It even ran! Haven't found one since & before that I hadn't seen one for sale in over 5 YRs. Man. I just want another Matching Suzuki TM for my 1974 250 Racer. Anyone in the Ohio, MI, Indiana, Wis area got one? As Much as I love 2-Stroke. It's just not the same when you got a Radiator in, MonoCrap (Shock), and a plastic tank. I love the Ironman Class Wayyyy too much!
