This would be a good candidate for rear fender, seat cover, new grips, levers, and paint the frame/engine. Very nice bike!!
You're absolutely lucky to find a bike like that.
If I were you I would never let it go
Great find I’ve had over 30 bikes over the years and this model is still my all time favourite. Rode it every weekend for three seasons and it never let me down. Replaced with a RM 250 and the stator failed on the first ride. That’s a keeper smooth power and and easy to ride
Your videos inspired me to finally start working on all my broken shit at my house so thank you for that😂
Got to love the Vin master, he's smart, he knows a good deal when he see one, sweet bike Joe and a awesome Vinnie.
Great video! Man this brought back some memories. I had an XR200 in the 80’s. Met a friend to ride one day who had a CR250. I remember him riding away from me like I was on a bicycle! That thing was a beast! We could ride from our house back then, and would ride til our hands would barely open any more. Good times!
Ran hard, yet stored safely...... what a rare find for a dirt bike. Awesome video man!
It looks like the owner of that bike did exactly what he was supposed to do with it. He raced that thing, exactly what it was built for, BUT he cared about his investment and put it away properly. He CARED about that bike, and it shows today. RARE to find someone who cared about them their whole lives like that. What a refreshing find!! Nice work Joe!!
I have a mostly restored 1983 Cr250. It been all apart, frame done, brand new plastics, seat cover bored .30 over with aluminum radiators, DG pipe. They are great bikes and really comfortable.
First bike I learned to ride on was an 83 CR60. I love the 80s style and the fact they had reasonably comfortable seats.
I had a cr 80 growing up and it would scream. Really miss it. I'm born in 83 so I love this bike.
I've got the cr 80 1983 and it's faster than my 84 and 85 cr80 little fly machines
This would NEVER leave me, 100% keeper. Good stuff bro.
Take a sanding block to the water pump and cover and sand of a millimeter of both and either put a thicker gasket or have someone cnc an exact aluminium spacer with gasket on both sides.
I have learned so much watching your videos. The fact that thing started after 3 kicks being a 50 year old bike would make a honda convert out of anyone.
Be nice to see you try and completely strip and rebuild to the best of your ability and get it back to how it should be. 1 would be an awesome series and 2 it would be worth a fortune. It needs an 83 front end and a good pipe. The sound of an old 2 stroke on the pipe, intoxicating. Good find Joe.
What a great find Joe , I raced an 83 cr250 and 480 in 83 !! These bikes were works bikes in the day they were so good !! I sold the 250 years ago and the my 480 just lst year !! Brings back a ton of great memories ❤ this is a fabulous bike !!! Half of my bikes today are right side drive and left kick , I have become efficient Kickstart with either leg over the years - thank you for sharing this iconic bike with us , and the little professor David Bailey said this was the best stk bike he ever rode !!! Thanks again for sharing p.s. do not use tap water in radiators it will eat the magnesium engine cover like crazy distilled water only !!!
Every 2vintage video: "Is the pilot jet clogged? Yes, Yes it is."
We need a compilation of all of Vinnie’s moments over the years!
Did something happen to him my I have not even noticed he has not been around.
@@MR-puffnstuffnothing happened to him
No we don’t a lot of them are painful to watch

this dude always find gems. love the content.
Please Please please do a resto on that thing and do a video of that! This brings back so many great memories of my 86 and 87 yz 250s most of my buddies were riding CRs back then. The mid and late 80s were the best for dirt bikes in my opinion
Fork gaiters, rear fender, seat cover, fix/replace pipe. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Raced an 83 CR 125. Great times, old times, but not forgotten. Doing great job!! Save those old classics!!😮
Those old 250`s is on a whole other level of brutal! I had a -89 cr250 10 years ago, and it was insane!
Hell yea , it's a beast....
Can't go wrong with any cr250 🤟🤠 they all haul the mail total ass kickers especially 80s 250LC models
I'm getting ready to put my 91 CR 250 back together this weekend
I appreciate your videos. I’ve watched so many. I’m starting to now guess what’s wrong correctly lol. I guess the next step is to start buying bikes to fix them as a meaningful hobby. Thank you for the inspiration
Great starter ...draining the coolant was huge! HI FLITE makes foam and seat covers...
Your laugh and excitement after it starts for the first time is the best bro inspired me to start taking on projects and they really make ya feel happy when they don't start and then end up starting up after a little maintenance
I had a 1983 CR250 for a year. Rode it as if I'd stolen it, mostly enduro and hard pack single-track and it never missed a beat. Got it for today's equivalent of $20 (48 bottles of beer was the cost) because the previous owner had drowned the stator and wasn't bright enough to fix the problem. That cost me another $5 to fix.
Had the CR ,YZ & RM 250 in the collection. I sold them all in 95, didn't have time to ride them . Nice score 🔥💪👍
Vinnie was defo saying dad come play toys then came back over like ok I've checked out the bike now lets go play toys 😂😂
I remember when these bikes were popular. A kid in the neighborhood got one just like it in ‘84. That was a super fast bike.
I definitely think this is one of your coolest finds and well deserving of some new parts. Keep us updated!
I was typing " there's an exhaust leak" right as you said it in the video lol. Cool ass bike!
You could see the excitement in you when unloading at your land. Just Awesome!
Just a tip, run a strap from your ramp to under your bumper/hitch. Keeps it from pulling off the tailgate when unloading. Takes a second but worth it. Great videos and very informative. I enjoy watching you get these old bikes running.
83 cr250 was my first bike. Loved that thing .
Note to Honda fans, Elsinore's last official year was 1981, 1982 was the introduction to the DeCoster new and improved CR's...
yes! If you are able to, please restore that machine! Not a lot of bikes worth putting the money, effort and time into, but that machine is definitely worth it imo.
I get pumped when I see Joe post a 2 stroke video lol
My buddy has a older Honda 250, without checking it out, he believes that it will cost 500$ to fix. I should just give him a price to buy. Thanks for sharing this
OMG, I had one just like this, pro link and everything. Electrostatic discharge on the water pump ate a hole into the engine. Fixed it by tapping the hole and sealed it with JB weld and a non metallic allen screw. I had so much fun with that bike, regret selling it but I couldn't take it with me when I moved.
Brings back memories I had a 83 CR when I was a kid.
Joe, good content as always but please STOP using the 12 inch Crescent wrench to remove those small brass jets. A set of metric nut drivers aren't that expensive.
Ahhhhh the sound of a 2 stroke! Gotta love it!
I raced these in WI back in ‘82 and ‘83. Fun times….
My best friend's older brother had this bike. It was an awesome bike back in the day.
Good score!!! What a find. I would definitely be keeping that one!! Love my Sunday morning 2Vintage uploads!!!!
This is definitely a good candidate for a mild restoration...what a great find!
Also, I wouldn't doubt that those reeds are trashed and need to be replaced, it might help with the bottom end power delivery...
I bought a 1982 CR250 brand new back in the day. Wonderful bike. I used to go riding with it and would man-handle it backwards up and into the trunk of my 1964 Chevelle and let it sit there diagonally with the front wheel off and fork out the back to get where I needed to go. Later, After I sold it to a guy in town, I heard back within a week that he’d flipped it over backward and ripped the rear fender off it.
How funny. I had a 83 CR480 I used to get in the back of my 64 Chevelle also. They were actually pretty big trunks. Also kept my Z50 in my back seat of my 73 Capri every place I went. 5 or 6 of my buddies had Z50's and trail 70's they kept in their cars.
0:25 "it ran at some point" yeah, like when someone brought it home from the show room brand new lol
I had a 1982 480 once. Still miss it
Wow!!!! takes me back to my teen years.......... rode one cant remember the year now though.
Great find! I just love the older bikes and atvs.
Very cool, piece of history and lots of Memories!
The bark of approval
Still have mine after all these years..... She's a keeper.
glad to see more cr250s
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos, I have learned a ton from watching them. Keep up the great work brother 👍🏼🤙🏼
The CR250 were legendary back in the day.
I just picked up a 1983 cr480r for 1200 dollars needed woodruff key, also missing rear fender. Awesome bikes in 83!
I had a 1981 CR250 when I was 18 years old.. Loved that bike. This video definitely brought back some memories. The left hand kick was always tricky to get used too.
Yet another great video 👍. Back in 83/84 my friends and I had Honda MTX's here in the UK, I would love to see you work on one of them. Please Keep up the great videos 👍
I've lost count the number of carbs Joe's cleaned up 😅 , always gotta feed the essentials ,good fuel flow/ air and bang ⚡
Love, love, love those old CR's! I hope you resto this sweet one!
Very Nice! 😎 I Had 1 The Same Year & Size, Bought It From My Nephew & Then Sold It Back To Him About 5-6 Months Ago.
We need a first start compilation! I think that would be interesting
Love ur videos I'm learning so much from them.
There it was at 41:58 . Joe, I've watched almost all your video's . Your a decent mechanic , very knowledgeable, but why is it on everything you ride you miss a gear. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video....................
40 years old! Crazy!
I’m dead bro, when you asked vin to shake my dog was sitting next to me and she heard you say that and she kept putting her paw up to shake. Funniest thing ever
Raced one of these 83-86 great tractor of a motor, front wheel on yours is wrong (83 was a drum break) super fun bike, enjoy.
Brother I have been with you from the start and I have learned a lot from you. The repetition of your breakdown when you get a bike is what is so helpful. The only thing that's to repetitious is the double shot of you riding after you get the bike running please get an editing program that will do a split screen and you can show both POV and the static shot at the same time.
Been watching for a while now and Ive figured out you might have an addiction.. If you need any emotional supoort let me know i got your back... 😂 lol. Lol. Love the new garage and good to see a fellow mechanic enjoying what we do. If you ever have a question about anything hit me up. I have tons of experience and knowledge to share.
Nice. That and the husky 250. Good times back then.
Good find you can’t beat a old honda
The disc brake front end is not standard. 83 had twin leading drum. But hey who's going to complain about a disc brake. Always enjoy watching your videos.
$1k for that is a great deal. Love your content!
Sweet Ride, Mr. Fixitall😊My XL650V's little brother👍🇳🇱
Hell yea dude I clicked so fast these bikes were my childhood my uncle had one wen i was growing up the left side exhaust left side kick with the right side chain such a weird design but these bikes were so fast and a blast to ride in the 80s honda had so many awesome motorcycles mopads and dirtbikes back then they were all 2 strokes too im pretty sure lol these were the ankle breakers that compression is INSANE WOW!!
You have a 86 or 87 front end.
83 had a drum brake.
So the bike saw some use over the years. Get er going !
1980s Hondas Rocked !!!
My Cousin had the CR500. It had a crazy amount of compression. Had to bump start it to ride. You would break your leg trying to kick-start it. Don't remember the kicker being on the left, but maybe it was.
Great find! I love your channel, you are always working on different cool bikes. This thing would be cool to take to a local track on practice day and show it off to everyone. Almost guarantee no one else as a left kick- right chain bike
We need to see some wheelies!!! Keep up the excellent work, homie!!
In junior high I raced an 83 CR 125. THE 250 was just a bit much then.had a chance to race one and survived but I was getting podiums on the 125, stuck to it til my sophomore year summer then went to 250, once I got used to it, transition was awesome, had the 85 CR 250 then. Nice rides. Hated the left hand kicker.
Great barn find, a fun little bike. Keep up the hard work
That bike smokes more then i do.
Nice find and she sounds Awesome!
You seemed pretty excited about this one, I don't blame you that is a great find! Nice to see Vinny too
Wow, classic find. The variety of your channel is amazing 👏
Would love to see some sled finds, race sleds or some Og classics
Coming up soon!
Do you even sleep or are you on marketplace 24/7 hahaha. Ur good big guy ur good.
My buddy bought one of these about 2 years ago and fully restored everything on it. Raced it in the AZ vintage series and won the title for his class then sold it about 6 months ago for $6000.
Loved my 86 250. Fantastic bike to ride.
I would definitely keep this one Joe. 👌
Hey Joe iv got an 84 250 and the plastics are like hens teeth to find,iv been looking for a rear mudguard for mine in good condition for the last couple of years iv got an 86 cr500 rear mudguard on it for now, nice find by the way oh and please stop jumping on the gear lever when putting em into gear it only takes slight toe pressure, keep up the good work dude love your videos and content 👍🏻 ✌️🤙
Vinny said,there i shift the bike,now let's play 😂
That phrase ,”it ran at one point” will always be a true statement” 😂😂
Heck yea joe joe i used to have a early 80s cr60 nothin like a old honda thats y it fired up so easy
Those things are BEAST. Had an '80' and damn.
Good stuff man.
It's a good restoration candidate great show
Hi Bud was watching your old video from 2 years ago Seems Like you have come a Long way from back then it was 2 stroke 200cc the spring if I remember correctly had a cap on the end stopping it from arking out when pushing down on the bushes we used radiator pipe put small piece on
kept spring central stopping it from shorting out causing fire to the electrics we also used a black rubber thin mate made a cone to look down when bike was running to see if the points were working correctly birds eye view it work well keep the good work up 👍
Man thats A great barn find!! And it starting evertime on first kick after warmed up is awesome! Oh and that thing rips! And love the the wheel spin in the dirt on take off. That thing has got to be fun to ride. Oh be careful cause I remember back in the 90s my buddy had one and he came to school one day all skint up!
