THIS SIMPLE UPGRADE MAKES YOUR MOUNTAIN BIKE INCREDIBLE - THE 26'' MULLET!

- This simple upgrade makes your mountain bike incredible - The 26" mullet setup was used by Brett Rheeder at Rampage where he took the win so I modify my MTB and try out this new setup, but is it actually any good?
The new norm in mountain biking is the Mullet setup with 29er on the front and 27'5 on the rear and the point of it is to give stability and smoothness up front but more maneuverability and clearance at the rear. For the Rampage event in Utah Brett Rheeder decided to try a new approach, he decided to run a 26" rear wheel with a 27'5 up front in order to keep the bike stable at speed but also make tailwhips and spins super easy. After finding out about his set up I ordered a 26" wheel from Halo to fit to the back end of my Slopeduro modified Enduro bike and the transformation was actually amazing! After some classic bike maintenance at home I then head to Woburn Bike Park and shred the bike to smithereens on the huge jumps and flowing MTB trails that wind through the woods. Would you try this set up on your bike?
I hope you enjoy the video!

I've ran 26" front and Halo combat 48"" spoke 24" rear for over 15 years on my jump bike, never let me down or buckled .Outstanding wheels.
I ran the same sizes 15-20 years ago on my downhill/jump bike too
That's great, glad to hear! Don't forget to wear an nta helmet like xnito or bern hudson while riding, cpsc helmets don't really protect you
I'm still riding my 2005 Specialized DH with 2001 Monster T forks, Halo combat 24" with 3-inch tyre in the rear, and a 26" wheel upfront with the classic 3-inch Gazzalooddi tyre. A total beast. I did however crack the Halo combat rim after doing a drop to a staircase landing. But I'm still riding on the cracked rim, the pressure keeps it intact :D Keep on riding, buddy!
Yeah, we were doing this in the early/mid 00's
I love how you experiment with different parts. I want to see a 20" rear and a 29" front next!
Watch out Sam's scsmmer is back

Yooooo!
The Sunday fix!! 🤟🏻😎👌🏻💥

Best moment of the week
@@SamPilgrim you need to pop up to bromsgrove for some urban shredarge plus there's a 44 steps doomer pump track woods and 2 skate parks plus one down the road in Redditch and Birmingham have some plus loads of street maybe one day might be worth it
I'm currently building my trek ticket s mullet with 27.5 up front. Currently it's 26 both front and rear, but it'll be a mullet eventually. 26 inch never dies.
In a moment, history will come full circle and we will find that the mullet 26 / 24 inches is a brilliant invention.
Wow. I am taken away by this camera quality, i didnt really notice it that much, but its actually a very precise camera and the lighting is amazing.
Lewi's camera work is insane these days too. Shot positioning, tracking etc. Loving it
Overcast weather is great at killing shadows and making trails clear to navigate! And Lewi is a beast
You should try 26" wheels both ends, v brakes and a triple chainset.
All additional parts should be anodized purple too.
Xbiker spotted
Influencers will say that such a bike impossible to ride. No one has ever done it ever.
Sam in my opinion just makes the life of a guy who loves nothing else but riding bikes so empowering it makes you really push forward and just understand to be yourself, we all really appreciate all of your content sam, keep the steez in the breeze.🤙
The camera work in this video is amazing.
Good shit, Sam. Loving everything you do, keep it up bro!
9:04 was a beautiful shot! Incredible camera work from lewi, and sam is amazing as always!!!
Piss off scammer...watch out
@@Dee.J.Mogfry yep, already reported the damn thing.
@@beepboop8446 it's soo annoying!
LOL...THE SCAMMER HAS BEEN DEFEATED....DOES HE THINK WE ARE STUPID!
I came here to say the same. What camera is Lewi using? It tracks Sam so well
Might feel even better with a 26" on the front too.
Fantastic episode guys! 👊
I feel like kid at Christmas, watching you open your new parts!
Your magical powers are amazing Sam, now you even Magic into the next day! Unbelievable really!
The first manufacturer to release the 26/27.5 Mullett, will be on to a winner. I'd certainly have one on pre-order.
I'm 39 and all I've ever ridden are 26". Now have a Cotic BFe with about 5k in parts.
Sam is so excited with fresh bike parts, his magic is strong. The set up looks like it gave a faster rotation on the backflips. A couple looked like they nearly over rotated. Sam definitely sends it big! Glad Lewi wasn't severely drowned. Brotherly love and video evidence prevailing once again. 😜👍
can we just take a moment to appreciate the incredible video work?!
And apparently 26" is dead! NOT!!!
The media express is the ruling force behind bike trends but can't take away the truth that 26" wheels are fun. I love my 26er, Interesting to see this format of mullet though seeing as we are currently being told 29ers are the way forward! I'm too short for a 29er so have a 27.5 but for grin inducing fun it's the 26". Thanks for bucking the trend Sam x.
I didn’t make it 2 minutes in before I was in tears!!! Great comedy 😂😂😂
This is my mood boost when you upload videos with this bike!
Sam, love watching you ride. Just before COVID, I found a 26" BlackMarket Killswitch. I upgraded some parts. It's by far my favorite bike for urban assaults and overall fun out of all my bikes. I'm going to get a wheelset for trails. You give me motivation to rip shit up. Keep em' coming.
26 will never die🤘
I've never left 26" wheels
Busy building a mutant mullet myself, 26 front 24 rear..glad i found this video.
When I'm not riding I feel like a wonky conka ! and when im either about to start work or when I finish work I whack on a pilgs video and instantly I feel epic and want get on me bike ! Sam's vidz are the best and in my opinion the best rider as he has so much enjoyment in what he does !
Sam you vid quality is insane amazing to watch and the bike suits you so well!
That 360 table was insane 👌👌👌 bike set-up looks super fun!
Can't wait for you to show us what amazing things you can do with a 29 rear 26 front reverse mullet setup !
No please, thats awfull !
Scammer alert! Ignore!
That's so ridiculous! Let do this! :D
The nose-dive machine perfect for frontflips
14:12 after a nice dron shot on the follow that jump cut by LP, I was saying wow! And so did SP.
So good terrain thanks for the video!
can we all just appreciate the Lew camera operating skill set :)
Bow Brickhill and Woburn, my favorite play area! Thanks for making it more public.
Great to watch you sending bangers 🤙
Yes Pilgs shredding Woburn trails!
Such a joy when Sam uploads! On another note, when are the Pilgrips back i need a couple pairs!!!
Beautiful riding! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks dude!
Love the little bits of comedy you add in like you drowning him in the pool etc
That place look so amazing in the nature❤❤❤
This is my local spot, I grew up on Aspley Heath. Old enough to remember before they started building all the jumps, and there was a massive quarry right there on the Woburn Road.......man, that makes me feel old, ha!!!
The landing on that second 3 on the step-up! 🤌🤌🤌
Wicked camera! Mean riding, as always. Love it 👌
the shots in this video really stood out for me and looking at the comments they did for others as well. camera work and quality seem to have improved yet again, really impressive. and the content is great as always. keep up the good work!
i mean, the shot at 11:16 alone... god damn, son.
I know you probably get told this all the time. But you are such an incredible rider, very few people out there are able to do the huge range of tricks that you do with such ease. And I absolutely love sams vibes 🤙
The sound Reminds me my neighbor doing his lawn at 8am on a Saturday morning
wow, great camera/footage quality production value etc, looks so crisp
You look very very comfy on that thing with the 26... love that camera angle, really puts us in the drivers seat with you... bravo Pilgrim keep up the good work... contest that bike asap
That 3 @10:10 was the most stylish spin I have ever seen. Zero noise on the landing🤙
my DH bike is ù 27.5/26 mollet and i love it
Long live to 26" wheels!
I’ve been riding a mullet jump style all summer. Love it!
one of your best videos yet....really enjoyed it and love your enthusiasm....
First time that I've seen a 360 no hander. That was amazing 😁
soon 2 mil subs! deserved every single one Sam! you in my top 3 channels!
Thanks dude!
When ever I see a new One of your vids it makes my day even better keep it up Sam 🎉
Is this a scammer or actually you ?
It's a scammer!
The cycling industry ditching 26" was criminal, lets face it,many of the people riding freeride bikes these days won't remember just how much of a bunch of A-holes the cycling industry made themselves out to be when they MADE every cyclist out there have to change wheelsize and get them to spend their cash before they'de even earned it,i never followed,i'm still riding my 26" 2007 Orange Patriot, smaller wheels was always where the fun was,for every action there's an equal and oposite reaction, you can't change physics, never rode 650B,never will,i know where the fun is!!
Well I never switched away from 26".
I still ride 26. Tried out a 29er last weekend. Didn't like it. Allways buzzed my ass and I couldn't manual or bunny hop propperly on it. 27.5 might be ok but almost not available anymore. So no new bike for me.
I still only have a 26"
I still daily drive a manual MKIV R32. Not cause it’s the “quickest” but cause it’s what I learned to love during the time I lived and owned one. I feel like the mtb wheel size debate is similar. Yes 29ers may be “quicker” and make more sense engineering wise but for those of us who grew up on 26” hardtails and early suspension bikes… it’s just our thing. That being said, casting shade on progress is pretty laughable😂
I have problems in my Meta rear wheel so ... I put a 26" wheel and ... it is quite good. It is fast and quite good. Next step ... put the front in 26" ... and I did and feels near the same as 27.5. in both. So mullet is fun and 26" is still quite fun too in a modern geo bicycle.
This video was sick!!!!! sick riding sick filming! im gunna be sick!!
😂👌
Once again, another banger of a video. Awesome. When are you getting any more grips on your merch site?
Congrats sam on 1.8m subs
Legend... epic content as always. Inspirational
Sam and Lewy y'all rock! Today was EPIC! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
Love your 360 Table, just so good
Go full screen and freeze frame at 13:27 for epic screenshot for computer wallpaper. That angle! 👌
You're working with inertia forces Sam. The larger and heavier the wheel, the more force it takes to make the bike spin. You cut down on both weight and size with the 26" wheel which would make it easier, or require less force, to spin the bike in the vertical and horizontal axis( flips and 360's). Enginerd here.
Super music, super cut, super angles and of course super fun to watch you playing around!!!
What`s about 27.5" front and 24" rear like ages ago? 🤔😁🤙🤙🤙
Intro gave me chills
More Street Trial please! It's literally dying out, only a couple 30+ guys make some content
you scared the shit out of that uniwheel guy at 13:32 😆 good thing he had all protection there is 😅
I was wondering what the hell that dude was on
Killer session. All the new TSG gear is looking the best it's ever looked. I may have to order myself some.
I love my mullet way more than I thought I would, I'm tall so I am happy about not buzzing my ass anymore!
U r the shizzle mayne!!!
Keep on rollin 4eva!!!
Its time to Eee-b it again. Long time no video with the E-B
It’s amazing how it’s like a full circle big wheels we’re the new thing and now we’re back to 26
And the time it takes for that trend to come full circle is juuust long enough to make sure the industry has milked every last drop out of all the upgrades before moving the goalposts yet again. No hate on the riders enjoying the change in riding style, just cynical market influences at play.
It was always going to happen, just a matter of when...
For my part, I'm still riding 26" but not cos I'm on trend for the comeback 😂
Super ready for shreddy! Making actual DREAMS come true! 🤣🤘
It was awesome video as always 😎. Epic👍
What a nice show of some harsh love!
Great video , sick tricks an filming . Was wondering what song was playing at 12:00 . Thanks 👍
Same man I can't find it. I tried a browser extension that's supposed to find music but it pulled up the wrong song.
Edit: Soon as I posted it I thought to try Google. Turns out it's called "Litty" by Apollo. It's a dope beat.
I just hit my first real gap jump yesterday, and looking at these it was like nothing compared to them!
Honestly dude, video doesn't do them justice. The big jumps at Woburn are huge! Obviously there's bigger (like slopestyle course jumps and like insane fest jumps) but nonetheless, until you see them in person you got no idea. There is a step down that just looks completely insane.
I was one of those guys there and it was a good show top man sam 👍🏼(blue coat)
Sam no matter Whot your ride you always sherd it to the max can’t wat for the next mad one 💪💪
Not even a minute in and its already funny
Big fan of the mullet bike. One of my bikes is 26/27.5 (pub bike) and the other is 27.5/29 (trail bike)
That was the same bike park where Ben crashed with the e bike in a Matt Jones video last week
My wife's been on a mini-mullet for the past 5 seasons in Morzie, but she just got a new Nomad so back to full 27.5.
35 Seconds into the Vid and im already laughing good job sam haha
Nice one Sam ,showing Matt Jones's mates how to properly jump .😉
The good old 26's coming back.
Sam makes it look so easy! Ben almost died on that step up lol
That berm into jump at 08:00 was in a Matt Jones video a little while back looks awesome to ride 👌🏼
Sam on that big jump you literally went flying and on your second 360 it looked like you went massive must have felt amazing to do that sick video 🤟🤟
Your bike magic is amazing 😆
Tip for slow motion: If you export/finalize your videos at 60fps, you can seamlessly play your 30fps segments inside of it, but you can also use 3x slow motion at 60fps filming rate and play that back inside the 60fps timeline without any judder caused by an uneven division of the frame rate. 20fps IS a little laggy looking, but it's still good enough, especially since you can speed-ramp the 60fps footage between full speed, 2x and 3x slow motion.
This is best paired with a 1/60th shutter speed that will give you natural-looking motion blur when the footage is at full speed, regardless of whether you drop half the frames for 30fps or use the full 60 in a 60 timeline. Plus it allows you to be "lazy" with the camera setting and simply always shoot 60fps 1/60th, and just drop half the frames to play 30 in a 60 timeline for that mixed cinematic/smooth look, but then always have 2x and 3x slow motion on hand without any settings changes.
Awesome cool bike 🤘👍❤❤❤
Epic riding!
Epic stuff man!
All of this is great, Sam, your tricks demonstrations and your tech experimentations and thanks for showing everyone what's what with it all. And are you running those super lightweight tubes or tubeless with just a sip of sealant or what? And ha, as for me, I recently installed a heavy-duty tube in the rear tire of my commuter and it was crazy how much it slowed me down, all that extra weight back there. I was a happy camper when I replaced it with a normal tube, tho' maybe after winter I'll opt for one of those lightweight ones. Keep flyin' like an eagle, Sam!
One of Cannondale's early mountain bikes had a smaller back wheel back in the day, the SM700.
A 24inch to be exact
The question is, is the 26" there to stay?
Yes!
26 is back!! YES!!!
You and Matt jones here LEZZZZZ GOOOOOO
now you got the 26" on the back, can run extra chunky tyres, like a 2.5 2.6,
the ultimate mullet challenge Pil. Get one of those kids bikes you had a while back. 16" rear 26" front on an old jump bike. lol
