- Duct tape tires on my mountain bike! I wrap both my rims with duct tape and push my new tape tired custom dirt jump bike to the limits with urban freeride spots, skatepark riding and even dirt jumps but how long will they last for!?
I decided to wrap my wheels in duct tape to create a full duct tape tire on both the front and rear wheel of my custom dirt jump bike and then send it! After fitting all the tape we start things off with some urban freeride action with manuals and stair sets of doom before heading to the local skatepark for a trick session with slow motion filming and fun! After this we hit a few more random spots and also jump off the roof of my truck before heading into the local woods and riding some dirt jumps. Once used to the new duct tape tires I then set my sights on a backflip but would it work? The finale of the video is set at the local skatepark where I find out how long the duct tapes would last! Would you try this?

Duct tape works surprisingly well and much cheaper than tires! As for the weight issue? Overrated! 😅 Thanks for the shout-out Sam!

Sam, you need to put garden hoses instead of tires and secure them by weaving duct tape over them and the rims, inbetween the spokes. I think that you got the picture: snake your duct tape in a "diagonal" pattern, completely covering the hose and the rims over a few passes. It's going to be just as epic as this video.

Never understood why people would lift trucks. All it does is worsening overall handling and cornering, and lowering fuel efficiency too.
@@tomlademann2521 makes them more dangerous as well because you create a huge blind spot in front of your truck. It's actually so bad in the united states that all SUVs and trucks over a certain height will be federally mandated to have automatic emergency braking systems. The reason is that because of the size of cars in the US, routine low-speed accidents are killing more people. What happens is these monstrous vehicles barely hit a small car and wind up killing the occupants.
Additionally, some states have ride angle limitations on some trucks because people lift them in the front but not the back, which creates an even larger blind spot in the front of the vehicle.
The only reason to lift a vehicle is to fit larger tires on there if you're off road a lot, which means you don't care about handling/cornering/fuel efficiency.

The reason you roll faster with pumped up tires. Is your reducing the amount the tire actually touching the ground. Basically as if putting a rubber band around the tape and only riding on that thin strip... Oh my god RUBBER BAND TIRES!!!!!

Hey Sam something you might want to consider instead of matte black on your truck is to rhino line it. It comes out black but it's that's stuff they spray or adhere inside the bed of your truck. Research it check it out I think you'd be more happy with rhino liner than paint cuz it won't scratch as easily Good luck. Also, make sure you put on some form of primer because the glossy clear coat on your truck is not going to allow proper adhesion of the black spray on spray paint. Just go talk to one of the auto painters and see what they'll do it for also you can buy spray cans of the rhino liner research that online too Check TH-cam lots of people have done it

Hey Sam just want to say thanks for the videos and content. Iv been watching for a couple of month and after 15 year off a bike I'm now building a bike to get me back out there and have a go. Maybe once iv finished my bike I will see you out and about around Essex. Let's hope I can get the confidence back and get over the fears after my last major stack that stopped me riding and hit some jumps and trails. The best advertisement for both duct tape and Halo rims, honestly Sam puts those things through hell and they just take it. Well done Halo or whoever makes. Not a bike rider, only motorcycle.
Having tape directly on the rims lunches the "rolling resistance" to the sky !! 🚀 every time this rim hits a bump or even just a rough tarmac it generates forces upwards & backwards damping your foward momentum. This is why tires are soft, they damp the vibrations in the system & roll over obstacles by deforming which is pretty awesome when you think about it :)

Btw Sam, regarding the wheels - i think when you pump your wheels you end up having less surface to touch the ground and thus less friction, but you retain the bounce via the air compressing and rubber bending and you grip and transfer power into the ground harder with "tenser" tires cause they cut like a knife, ehich is greater for directional change and compressing the ground under you due to smaller surface contact. for instance a skinny car tire in snow is much better than a ferraris wide tires and a knife cuts better than a block of steel 😉 . Remember when you did the lower psi challenge? you started sliding everywhere. when racing you don't wanna drift cause you loose time with the lost traction. Now regarding the density of the layers of gaffa tape, they're right on the rim and the rim is very hard, it cannot absorb and redirect the hits from the ground, the rocks, unevenness, the friction is prob slightly larger cause your ground contact is flat and wider .. ? and it has no chance but to send the energy up throught your wheels n frame counterwise to your travel, like newtons 3rd law i think? i dont remember 😂, so its like a lot of little pushings against you, a restriction if you will. But that's just what i think. was very surprised they slid so much when you turned on your back wheel, but that's the rigidness of the plastic in the tape that makes the tape whst it is, 🤔 if it was softer anything you'd tape back together would eventually sag.
