I just think it's so sad that rent is so high. I live in Jacksonville Florida in North Florida and it's really high up here as well if you want a decent apartment where it's not a lot of crime you're going to pay around at least $1,600 or more. And there are a lot of people have roommates to keep up with the high rent.

Fort Lauderdale has turned into a tourist town also. I was born and raised in my city. There should be some kind of help or incentives for people that have been born in FL and are original citizens... 😞😕🙏

There is a definite need for housing for moderate to low income people here in St Petersburg. Even if it's one or two people, choices are limited.

Rent is ridiculous across the country ! It's all about greed the rent goes up and nothing is changed or updated in the units. That is one of the reasons so many homeless.

Unfortunately everyone can't live where they want. It's not up to taxpayers to pay your rent. Who pays the landlords taxes and homeowners ins? St. Pete is beautiful and expensive. If you can't afford it move thats what i had to do.Why do so many people today think everyone owes them something?

Easier said than done for people who were already established there with a job kids in school possibly taking public transport then rent just doubles on them in a month. It’s not about what taxpayers owe them it’s about aid for the sudden spike in necessary expenses in a state that doesn’t like to pay people. It’s about the huge imbalance of wages to expenses. It’s one thing for a person to move to a place like Miami where it’s already expensive struggling to get established and complaining about it, yes you can’t afford to live in Miami move, it’s another thing where you are already established in a city for years a lot of them like these people in St Pete. then overnight your expenses double. Moving takes planning, planning to find a new job get your kids into new schools finding new affordable housing. Moving also takes money a good amount of it which if these people had they wouldn’t be complaining.

rent control don't work. I know I live in New York. and rent control has made getting a apartment at a low enough price almost impossible. yeah it's good in the beginning but as time goes on. it'll get worst. on top of that what landlords will do right before the law takes place is for anyone who lease is going to be up. will raise their rent to market rates. and landlord will usually have a requirement that tenants make 40 times the rent. which most people don't meet most of the time. in other words landlord will find ways around the rent control laws. landlords can get the best lawyers tenants can't. oh i forgot to mention new housing will not be built which means what housing stock you have will be the only housing stock you get. and landlord will make sure to raise the rent every year like clockwork to the highest allowed. and landlords will only take tenants who have the highest income for a number of reasons too long to list.
