U do know that u can hide files and layers in procreate forthe timelapse? those process videos mean nothing lul
and no, those pics u have shown at 14:30 are these typical midjourney shite. I can understand if a non artist with untrained eye sees it and thinks its real but hearing from you that u thought once these were real drawings is quite disapointing

"Community"? what are you even talking about? A "community" is a myth. Especially something like "the art community", there is no "community", nobody knows anyone. You are just loosely associating all artists as if we were somehow all friends. Sorry dude. The idea of any "community" is a lie. It's all in your imagination.

The worst part about these fake "artists" is the fact that social media addicts are calling everything surreal/abstract "AI" when it very clearly is not AI-generated. Expert photographers have been the biggest target of these horrible "AI" comments, and it's gotten to the point where photographers are now having to record their process in order to prove they took the photo.
Ironic how photographers have always been mocked for not being "real" artists, yet now they're the ones getting harassed for "AI photos" that are actually real photos lol.
Media literacy has really gone downhill if we're attacking real artists for being even mildly better than Calarts students.

"You should change your style. Looks too much like A.I."
      Does it, now?
Guess that means people don't need me, and I don't care. I was never the type of person to look for attention, as if that was anywhere close to the most important thing about self-expression.
And if someone trained an algorithm on my stuff, it's no surprise why it looks similar. But hey, I would never trade away the experience of learning things and making connections between ideas. Nothing can touch that.
Originality is a human concept... It's not a matter of "what makes the best image" or whether "some people have the same fingerprints" - it's all about the personality, the drive and the intent behind every mark Vs. how much something depends on the work of someone else to exist (which algorithms have been trained upon the works of millions of people)... It's not simply about how much something is "different" or "similar".
If someone doesn't know what "marks" these algorithms do and just decide whether they are "good enough" only after they are applied and move on, then there is no human intent in those "generative marks" regardless of whether they choose to save them in a folder packed with other possible "marks" or whatever experience someone has. Each "mark" an accelerated algorithm does is influenced by processes that change them depending on circumstances and what they are working with-processes that no human can do, control or hide entirely.
If people want to argue that they just need to be "creative", as in focusing on ideas over their execution, that is focusing on results, in which case they are skipping a process or parts of it (if they are sometimes using digital programs to edit things), and therefore are leaving interpretation up to anyone else as to what is made by humans. Such a concept based on one's drive and intent is meaningless to anyone who is not willing to put themselves in the practice of a craft while the people who do find it meaningful arguably become much more creative than the ones who don't.
As long as algorithms are not truly intelligent, despite almost everyone labelling them as such, they can't outperform humans in what tasks they already do because they don't have any concept of humanity or the will to understand/feel it. They can still get close on a very superficial level if those filthy rich tech corporations pour enough resources in them to convince people that they can think for them, but I believe there is a constant limit to what they can do without being truly human.
Say that they do develop sentience... Would that change anything about what people are?
The problem is not the technology, it's the way people SEE it.
When a CEO tells someone that they're a "specist" for wanting to make sure humans are O.K. in a future with accelerated compute or when someone says that "by obstructing the algorithm's RIGHT to 'copy' something, that is obstructing other people's rights"... people like this are willing to give rights to machines because they think that more intelligence = more truth, and that anyone who is less "intelligent" by their definition deserves to be taken advantage of.
This is the foundation of the whole "A.I." movement: they decide that they don't need anyone's consent. They just think "might makes right".
Meanwhile, people in politics and the justice department are actually considering having algorithms operate in those fields... one of them, I contacted, and they told me that "A.I. is coming whether I like it or not", and that makes me wonder what they are already doing about it.
Whatever happens, what are people doing about it? That's what I care about the most over whether something is inevitable or not.
I just want to know if people are doing things that actually matter to them over pursuing ideas that are only meant to make them feel somewhat comfortable about everything.

It's kind of incredible how fast people, especially ignorant ones who never did anything like what they're attacking, forget what humans can do. It's the exact same reason so many people believe everything ancient was done by aliens. They just can't seem to wrap their heads around how capable a species we are. And the strangest thing is, like, so many of them knew it yesterday. But they learn about any kind of new technology or a concept new to them and they just forget they knew things like that artists can do amazing things and not every woman is secretly trans. People really are getting dumber at an incredible rate

Oh, they do it with painting as well, because any painting usually doesn't have the detail of a photograph and can, therefore, be done via AI, apparently.
Right-O. I usually do have images from the middle of the process just due to making decisions about that point, but even so, it doesn't concern me if somebody actually thinks a canvas was--or could be--generated by AI.

I think a better example would be like a subway and telling them what yiu want on yiur sandwich. When it comes to regular reastyrounts, yiu are just asking them one thing and they just prepare according to how the reasturount does it. You can't tell them the ingredients or anything. But with subway, telling them what stuff to put in in a particular order and if yiu want it toasted is kinda similar to how people would write a prompt on what they specificaly want in the image and how it needs to be done. The prompt is the ingredients in a way. But even though you did tell tell that person what you want in the sandwich and how it needs to be done, you still didn't make it on your own. You told someone else to do that stuff for you. Yes, you in some way created the sandwich, but you didn't MAKE it or CREATE it with effort as you are not the one constructing it and putting work into it. Thats how I see AI. Someone going to subway, telling someone what they want on the sandwich and how it needs to be done, and then claiming that you made it because it's instructed by you.

I've been drawing almost my whole life and while I learn at a slow pace I just enjoy the process.
As you said, there can be many "failed" attempts before that good one, and there is no greater joy than looking at a finished piece and say "I did that!!", realizing all your hard work and dedication finally payed off!

Art in itself is fucking hard. Its so much self discipline learning so many fundamentals and trying to find yourself in it while keeping motivation. This whole situation that’s been happening over these past few years has made things even more difficult.
Because of this, for you to keep on moving is incredible. Because its brave to continue moving forward despite not knowing what comes next. And despite adversity. If art is what you want to do then go for it.
I find what I keep hearing is continue to make the art you want to make. Don’t create for the masses, create for yourself and the kind of people you want to make this for: what are they into and why? How can I show my process and art in a way that gives them value? So, a few months ago I was looking at my DA likes to find some art inspiration since pinterest was bogging me down with all the AI on there. But when I saw the harsh shift of genuine art to AI I just felt extremely sad. All except the most recent likes was genuine art, hundreds of images of genuine work and then suddenly not. I realized I can no longer just enjoy art, how even subconsciously now I comb through every piece I see and look for the signs of AI. It's exhausting, and I yearn for the days where I could just enjoy art because it was only art, none of it was this AI bull.

@@Window4503 you do not seem to know how generative AI art works. There is no "the model THEY are currently using". There are several different platforms which offer generative AI based on different algorithms and datasets, but you can also just train your own models with your own datasets. There is no "starving THEM out". There is so much art out there already which can be combined in endless combinations and with time the models will just get better and better. Many platforms like Midjourney probably added different biases, because you cant replicate the style of popular artists anymore like you could before. But when you do your own models....there is nothing that holds you back copying other artists style. And then, when you got basic art skills, you can easily fix some errors and do some overpainting/compositing and nobody would be abled to notice.
No matter if you like it or not, digital art and its perception has changed...and it will change even further. And the sooner you adapt and find your niche, the better you will handle future situations.

The only thing I can say is to move to the tangible world, it will eventually die too (3d printing and etc) but at least there’s some instrinsic value to whatever piece you create, just like we can have Picasso’s and Van Gogh’s prints, but the real piece is still the valuable one, because their hands held the brushes that painted those. It is the only solution I find to this problem. Unless you can live and work in the online environment, then, good luck and a hug to you 😢❤

In my tweets at 6:26 and 8:10 I try to make it clear that I started drawing in that style (which I call "ethereal dreamcore pop surrealism") after finding out Petra's art was AI back in May. I wanted to see that eye-candy aesthetic in a real piece of art, so I did it myself. I stand by what I said, if AI can steal from us, we can take it back. AI art is the definition of appropriation, "the action of taking something for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission." GenAI appropriates real art and we have every right to reclaim it.

Because no matter what you say they’ll always respond with the same insignificant response of how ‘Ai better!!! Ai better!!’ Or how ‘Artist can’t compete with Ai, it’s just a fact!!’ But refuse to listen to reason or another perspective. But what hurts even more is when some Artists agree with those Ai enthusiasts (probably to make both sides happy). Saying how ‘they understand why people would choose Ai than art made by hand’ and how ‘it’ll eventually replace us all’.
Don’t feed in to their opinions on Ai, it’s not gonna make them like you, and it’s not gonna change their perspective. They don’t care for what you do or the time and effort you put into your art. They don’t care about what you make. Before genAI, they talked mad shit about real artists, how art degrees are useless, how unlike tech, art contributes nothing to the advancement of society. But the moment they had the opportunity to create art through gen AI, they absolutely flood the artist spaces, calling themselves artists, saying stuff about how AI gave the 'talentless' the ability to bulldoze the gates that the 'talented' smug manual artists were keeping. This tells me one thing: They were always bitterly envious of manual artists, and their hatred of artists boiled down to their own perceived self-talentlessness, their own laziness or perceived lack of opportunity to practice. And that chafes my arse. Talent merely makes it slightly easier to progress. The rest is hard work. I'm not gatekeeping anything for non-artists, they're just mad that I was willing to sacrifice a lot of time, effort and 'normal, useful jobs' to hone my skill. I am constantly debating when, how and where to start taking art commissions. It just seems to be getting worse and worse to even start out within this field, yet I am determined to jump in this hell hole. Drawing and painting is something I purely love doing; The process of creating something fulfills my soul in a way. And I keep wanting to keep creating, challenging myself if I can recreate perfectly what my mind is picturing.
I will not let AI take it away from me. AI should be put to the tasks that are chores, and annoying to do, not to make it do stuff we love doing, just so we get to do the boring stuff.

As someone who’s literally been doing art since I was little, ai gets me so angry. I mean, it shouldn’t even be called art anymore. The way I see art is something that has been created, it’s hand made, it’s unique. It takes talent, skill, dedication and passion. If an ai is just generating images, that should not be called art. It’s like a big insult to actual artists who spend day and night practicing, creating. It just isn’t the same. It’s stupid how nowadays people go online, input a prompt and return with the product labelling it ‘their art’. Typing words just isn’t art. It doesn’t hold that same meaning. Maybe this topic just gets on my nerves as an artist and computing student, but I literally can’t stand looking at ai ‘artists’ who undermine real ones 😬

As someone who admires animation and considers myself an artist as well, yeah it grates on my nerves. It's just disappointing how lazy people are getting, and agreed, just typing in a prompt is NOT art. Like.. you did not produce it with your actual mind and hands, therefore it is not even yours. Not to mention how samey AI art feels. It's all the same hyper-realistic bullsh*t (except generated anime characters, which are a bit more harder to tell), and it's been comically easy to find AI art whenever I browse on Deviant Art or Pinterest. It just looks too perfect and yet something's so off about it, it's artificial and has no flaws or anything to praise about it. There is absolutely zero skill in making AI art, because _anyone_ can type in a prompt. Which, like, the entire point of art,, other then the passion, time, care, and lengthy process that goes into making it,,,...is kinda admiring the skill that goes with it? Like there's nothing to admire about AI art, nothing to go "whoa holy crap I can't believe someone made that, that's so awesome" at, because no one made it.
Edit: Actually, while AI generated prompts are not made by people, the art used to generate it IS, by actual artists who likely did not give permission for it's use, in which case is stealing.

It just baffles me that now, one has to carefully look at every art piece they stumble upon just to make sure it's not AI. Worse is the fact that people PREFER AI over real art, claiming that AI images can be just as much of "art" as human-made ones. And most of these people aren't even artists themselves, thus cannot understand the entire process and thought that goes into art, although I honestly find it worse when actual artists support AI
This led to absolute paranoia in the art community, and it's awful. Nobody ever asked for AI to exist, especially not artists. It's not a "tool" for artists either, it was made SPECIFICALLY to generate images without learning to draw or learning photography, that's always been the entire point?? The fantasy to create images out of thin air has always existed, yet that fantasy was never on the artists, but on the people who refuse to learn art for one reason or another. Aside from that, nobody asked for or needed this kind of "tool"
All in all, it's such a shame that artists cannot exist peacefully anymore. As an artist myself, I much prefer raw, human-made art, the kind of art that people put their feelings and soul into, the kind of art that has a unique emotion, feeling, "vibe", atmosphere, meaning. Even if that meaning may be just "I wanted to draw this for fun", it's still way more valuable than the soulless garbage that AI produces. It may look good on the surface, and I do admit that some images look really nice aesthetically, but I still cannot admire them, they lack humanity. Not to mention how uncanny they feel, no matter how "real" they look. If all that matters to people is the "eye candy", then what is the point of art existing in the first place?

Joy for "art" should be creating cool images that can say something. The idea that AI can't achieve that is just a philosophical myth being pushed by real artists. These people are already using AI to have perfect line art, to color correct, to make things 100x easier than analog painting. And they never had an issue when it put great manual artists like Drew Struzan out of business in the 90s. If you are actually inspired by "art", AI means nothing to you. Imagine you have a really strong passion, to which you dedicate hours of work everyday, that makes you so happy and help you connect with people. And then one day a company barges in your environment, take all your shits and decide to us them however they want. That's what's happening with AI. Millions of pieces of art are used to train AI against the artists consent. For some people, it's their income. For others, it's a life long passion. You got some nerves to write such a thing under a comment where I'm literally expressing how my lifelong passion is being ripped away from me because companies only cares about technology and money. You should genuinely open yourself a bit more to what is happening in the artist communities online lately. AI is literally being used to scam professional artists more and more, even trying to start competitions between people and making beginners and older people feel discouraged about their skills ! AI is used to steal artists unique artstyle and then profiting out of it. It happened to our beloved Quinni, may her soul rest in peace, but also to other less known artists like Caitlin Koi shown here. AI could be used to create such amazing technologies that could help humanity, but no, instead it's being used to steal people's work and profit out of it. Please, before commenting such ignorant stuffs, learn a little bit more about what it is to be an artist in the current AI situation. There are good reasons why entire groups of artists are currently filing lawsuits against corporations who broke some basic consent and copyright rules for the sake of technology. AI isn't art and will never be, art is a piece of work created by a human. All AI do is massively stealing this work to make profit out of it. Kinda funny that you throw a spike against artists who are worried for their paycheck when most of AI steals art to make money out of it, sometimes straight stealing an artist unique style. Hell, even 2 years worth of my infography homeworks have been fed to an AI against my consent, because Adobe were the only programs we were allowed to us ! Again, please extend your knowledge in the artist community to realize the magnitude of the crisis. I recommend you to check out more videos on @MohammedAgbadi channel, he talks about the latest things that happened in artists communities online, including the latest things AI did to them. Please, once again, extend your range of knowledge and realize that people's years of hard work are literally being stolen from them in the name of technology. We never agreed to this, and we're called names for sharing our art online in the first place (most platforms made the collection of art an immediate yes, and made the whole process of opting out of this problem barely know and complicated. I recommend you to check Mohammed's video on DeviantArt, and how the platform is forcing artists who have been there for more than 12 years to opt out DRAWING BY DRAWING. Not only it is an insane thing for artists who have literally hundreds of posts there, but also what about the ones who are dead ? And the onr who forever lost their account ? Why is the default setting set on consenting ? That's not how consent work at all)

And yet 8:44 this guy accused my blue demon girl of being AI, the detector gave it like a 98% probability of being AI and then I had to make that screenshare where I pulled around the layers just to prove myself. Those AI detectors may have some application but when they get it wrong it can be harmful to real artists.

As a fellow artist, AI is very annoying. Especially AI "artists" who claim that its real art.

Pretty much the last year up until now I’m barely posting art or commissions, cuz it doesn’t matter when the algorithm favors the mass production of AI theft over REAL ARTISTS!! 🤬 SUPPORT REAL ARTISTS AND THEIR ART ❤

@@SatAFK it's okay if you don't understand, but honestly? that also kinda means that you don't understand the market you are trying to change. that lack of trying to understand is why you will never understand :) so please, be careful with what you say and promote, it isn't your community to begin with.
