I faced a hitch while installing it. The phone got struck in fastboot, and I got scared that it might brick my phone.
Then I read in the XDA link that you shared for downloading the file. There its written that install Mi Suite (whose download link is also provided there) to overcome the issue of being struck in fastboot.
As soon as I installed Mi Suite on my PC, the phone started to respond and the app was intalled within no time.
Pls share such videos in future as well.

Yes, you just need to configure gcam settings. I showed that in the video.

Yo mate... I have some question. Please answer it one by one because other geeks like me maybe have same questions in their mind. Questions:
1. Does this process cause any effect on stock camera app's performance ?
2. My phone is fully intact, means no root or no mods process have been done with my phone yet. So does this process will work smoothly ?
3. After installing Gcam with this process, if I wanted to undo the process what will be the procedure ? Hard reset or Stock rom flash ?
4. After this process will be the bootloader locked again ? Or any type to security breach will be created compare to the stock rom ?
5. Any chances of disable ota update ?
Sure.
1. Nope. I tested the stock camera app and it works fine.
2. This is the best scenario for this tool.
3. The tool has an option to disable the modifications.
4. Bootloader will be locked at the end of the process. Check in video.
5. OTA will work fine.
Again. question lol.. :P .. Do I have to download and install gcam from other source like apkmirror. or this modification contains gcam app ( as like jailbreaking iphone with cydia installing) ?

I have oreo 8.1 .. do I need to unlock bootloader? if or if the information on the smartphone is deleted? what application do you recommend to make a backup including accounts and programs.
I used this method but on the phone screen it stucks with the fastboot please help on the pc it shows unlocking bootloader

If you stuck at fastboot;
1)Keep your phone in fastboot screen and don't unplug your usb cable.
2) Check windows update and download the Lemobile update.
3) When you download the update your phone is going in to twrp and it will set the gcam.

used 8.1 patched image from XDA and ROOt via Magisk, check via root checker, after that while enabling the HAL3 & EIS, then the phone is stuck while reboot in andriod one loading screen, I need to press the power button to reboot again, after 23 times finally able to boot properly, Gcam seems working but why I am facing this issue, ny idea or help

All those who r stuck or phone not detecting try to install d driver manually. Follow the link below.
I too had the same problem, jus download the drivers from the below link, and then unzip it, then go to device manager from my computer, then u will see under others tab , adb (yellow marking), right click on it and update driver, then browse from computer , select the unzip file, it will install n then u call easily install the gcam.

GCAM slow motion is not working app closes in TWRP, it was working with modules in magisk manager. Any solution to enable slow motion and also google lens to install.

The camera is awesome, but I kinda have one problem. When I try recording any stuff, the video shows a noise that sounds like static interference, and it's not just limited to the GCam app. It also happens when I try to record videos with any app, like Instagram and the Stock Camera. What can I do to fix this?
Hello! I tried to install the gcam using the tool and following the instructions in the video. When the phone starts after the reboot I can't open the camera app because it keeps on crashing. I tried a couple of times, with both drivers, and still doesn't work. I wonder if it means something, but when is boothing the TWRP I don't have the same screen as you but something different asking me for a password or something like that.

* when i type adb version it showing android debug bridge version 1.0.31 and in your pc it showing some more things but my only showing android debug bridge version 1.0.31

I'm no getting the USB debugging dialog box on my phone. I disabled fingerprint and screen lock, and I enabled USB debugging and OEM unlock. I installed adb driver version 1.3

1. I tried with 1.3 and 1.41 multiple times, but got stuck at unlocking boot loader and fast boot.
Should we rerun the tool with phone on fast boot? Or screen on?
2. Should we install twrp apk on phone? if not how it appeared on phone screen?
3. On my windows 10 the device manager shows unknown device (but the both drivers are installed)is this the reason to stuck?
4. I tried the same with Windows 7, with 1.3, 1.41. I continued as you said even the phone didn't ask allow USB debugging, still stuck at installing Google camera.

after down grade to april patch itried to install g cam . but the Gcam tool stocks at locking bootloader and my phone stop at TWRP . not rebooting.
Once in TWRP, open device manager and update ADB/phone drivers.

Hmm.. this is indeed wierd. Just installing gcam should work fine I think. Download the APK from here (red bold one) www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/. Make sure the settings are same as mentioned in the settings link next to it.

my app worked fine for the first time, clicked around 5-6 pics and also viewed them on photos app, but when i started the app again. click some pics then when i went view it, the screen goes black and nothing happens

While stucked in twrp , I swiped to allow modifications , and after that > reboot > bootloader

Recorded a video today on 8.0 with May update (install gcam without wiping data). It will work for 8.1 too. Expect it in couple of days.
Facing problem. When i click on the install button it shows installing gcam after that bootloader is unlocked and twrp is booted. On my 1st attempt the twrp did not do anything so clicked on keep read only as mention at the top of this thread and then nothing happen , twrp menu opened and then nothing. On the computer it kept showing locking bootloader and wont proceed further and my device was in trwp. Tried several times but still the same problem. I got out of it by clicking reboot and then bootloader. After clicking that device went into fastboot and locking bootloader on computer changed to finalizing or finished i dont remember.
So according to me what happened is that camer2api did not got enabled as gcam app kept crashing but when i went to reboot bootloader in twrp the application just locked the bootloader and rebooted my device. Please help as i really want the gcam app. My overall problem is when twrp is booted the camera2api doesnot get u!!

this worked for me
- removed pin and fingerprints (no lock at all)
- enabled oem unlock - usb debug
- tried the following commands before running the tool (adb /fastboot drivers 1.4.3 already installed)
adb devices (saw device listed)
adb shell reboot bootloader
fastboot devices (saw device listed)
fastboot reboot
adb kill-server
---
then launched the tool, no manual intervention at all and gcam installed.
first install TWRP recovery and follow this method or not please reply me bro
