Hey buddy,, love the video. On the headlights, try painting them white and rub the paint off just the middle of each one,, looks better than you would think
If i sent you some pics of a 67 i just completed, could you give me some advice on things i may need to improve on. I know you keep saying build for you, and i completely agree. I am looking to do showroom, and not show piece if that makes sense. The tips you show on your videos are incredible and have helped me immensely since i got back into modeling. Thanks again.
Hello Hank, With real work, family, and two model kit builds and videos plus other bonus videos every week I am unable to allocate time to tutor individual people on their specific builds. Thanks for watching and keep having fun!
I used to ride around in one of those. My older brother's friend had a white one, with a red interior. That car screamed! Oh, the memories. I may have to make one like his was. I always love your enthusiasm! Thank you for all you do for the hobby! --Cindi (Granny Glue-Sniffer).
This was my first car, a red 1967 GTO with 400 HO & Muncie 4-speed. Looks great, I wish I had the skills to build it, I have such great memories of that car, would love to have this model, you did an outstanding job, very accurate.
Hello Chris, This is the second video of yours I have watched. I enjoy your no nonsense banter, and explanations as you progress. A model builder for over five decades, and retired machinist, I appreciate the finer details you offer. I just purchased the '64 4-4-2 hardtop as shown in your other video, and having the MPC '67 GTO, I think I will attempt to start them soon with winter here. Just a few pointers l do is to paint the distributor body cast aluminum as well as the cast part of the starter. I have not looked into my kit in a while, but see your kit has the manual transmission, yet no clutch pedal under the dash. Having owned three real GTO's years ago, I built models of my burgundy red '64, convertible, my Lime Green vinyl topped '69 GTO, but not my Tyrol Blue '67. Thank you Again for the pointers and encouragement.
I have been watching your channel for a while now. I'm embarrassed to say that I just subscribed sometime last week but have been enjoying your builds and reviews immensely, even the reviews on products that aren't plastic model kit-related. The music you used on this video during the painting segment has been very relaxing to me. Thank you for doing these videos and for keeping the hobby alive.
Wow, you do such a fantastic job with your hobby ! I really do appreciate your time and efforts with these kits and presenting them for all of us to view!!!!! 😇👍🏼
The white pinstripe pops off the red, it was the first thing that caught my eye in the final reveal. This build reminds me of my next door neighbor growing up. He was a serious motorhead and he tricked out his dad's car, engine wise. He'd take it out on weekends and smoke other cars in street drags. He had many an offer to buy the car, but it was his dad's car. The kind of car you pass on the highway and then he decides to pass you and leave you behind in the dust because you underestimated what he had under the hood.
Love the tips and thanks for sharing .. but ... I cannot believe you built a GTO kit that includes the Hurst equipped stickers for the back trunk lid and didn’t put them on .. epic face palm , l o l , just giving you a nice ribbing from a guy who grew up with GTO’s and thanks for paying ahead in this great hobby !
That's another feather in ur cap ... that makes a sweet kit and what we really like about u is u give couple of different options for each kit that's great c ya on next one
After being a body&paint guy 20 years there was a period of time i refused to even go to car shows at all. I was unable to not pick out every imperfection. I still do it somewhat but its engrained in me to do so.....i still appreciate cars though.
LOL, yeah, you'll find all kinds of faults in my kits. I don't stress it. It's a review on the kit and what can be done with what's in the box, not on my painting skills. Enjoy man!
Another brilliant build. Like others, I've learned a TON from watching these. Right now, I'm building that '77 Ford Pinto you did not long ago. I finished the '86 Monte Carlo, and I still have the Starsky and Hutch '76 Torino, the '70 Pontiac Firebird, the '70 Plymouth AAR 'Cuda and the B-25 Mitchell to do (thanks a lot, bud ;-). And now... gonna have to do this one, as well. BTW: my boss/owner at the full-service gas station in Detroit where I worked as a pump jockey during my high school years in '76/'77 had a full-on '67 GTO with the 400 cid with the four-barrel High Output and a bunch of other goodies. Man, was that one beautiful muscle car. I rank it up there with the '70 Chevelle SS in terms of the greatest Detroit muscle cars of all time.
Looks good, building the Revell 1966 Pontiac GTO right now. The Revell kit has far better detailing, but the window glass's are all seperate which is a pain in the ass. And like you said that MPC kit is an old re-release. I did mine in a light metallic aquamarine green with a black vinyl roof, and stock wheels etc. Excellent channel, I have taken a few ideas and techniques from it.
This isn't a kit I'd be bothered about if I saw it online, but I have to say, and I don't know how you do it, but watching your videos always make me want to buy them.
Pretty cool how you can take a reboxed kit, and make it look good!!! I have the original issue of that MPC kit, and everyone used to talk crap about it! Lol!
that GTO is a very cool build . I am so happy that I found your channel . I like that you explain everything that you do and you make every thing look pretty easy .
I usually let my bodies set for 3 or 4 days just to give them time to cure but you do know what you're doing and the model's you do turn out great looking
I love what you did with this kit so much I went out and bought one of my own today ! I can't wait to start it , it's an awesome little kit ! Pad printed tires for the win as well 😃😃
Dude awesome channel! Been Binge watching for two days. You have really motivated me to get back into model cars. How about showing us your whole collection that you’ve built give us some ideas on how to display them. Thank you.
Thanks for doing the GTO. I have not received mine yet, but, wicked nice to see the preview. Good options & that drag tree is super. I like the kit. Use that drag tree with the sweet dragsters you just did. I even plan to paint red also. Your dash is awesome.
Awesome man!! I didn’t look twice at this kit but your build might force a purchase.... enjoy watching you build almost as much as I like building myself!!! It’s cheaper and I can see the results in under 30 minutes 😂
i recently bought this kit to build a small version of the real thing im restoring for myself, paint trick for cars that you want to have factory correct colors , i use duplicolor spray cans from the auto parts store
nice build before I get a kit I like to watch the reviews . Im doing a Pro street GTO since there is not much detail under the hood the frame from the 67 Chevelle is shorter in the front and back the wheel wells line up perfect the interior tub fits . Next putting it together oh yea Cant find Future so I tried Quick Shine it works real good take care .
Chris, you run the best scale model channel on TH-cam! Thank you so much for giving us amazing reviews of your work! I really enjoy it and learned so many useful things to improve the look of my models! Would you be so kind and let us know how you make this more realistic look on the car components like chassis or engine so they actually look used and dirty? I'd really appreciate that! Another masterpiece for your collection. Again great pick on the color's. My dad has a '71 GTO, and that is a bad-ass car!( sorry about the language, but that's what comes to mind on his car). Chris you just get better with every build. Get work on the kit and your video. Best channel on TH-cam!
I remember this kit being a train wreck. The chassis didn't fit the body, causing the bumpers to pop off if it was moved. The wheels were not centered in the fenders. the engine parts didn't line up correctly and most locating pins had to be removed to fit together.
Is that a 8 track tape molded into the dash radio? Back in the early 70's I bought a 65 Goat, 389, tri-power, 4 speed and posi. GTO stood for "GAS, TICKETS & O MY GOD HANG ON" I got some stellar moving violations in that car including the fastest speeding ticket I ever got from the California Highway Patrol, 135 MPH and the GOAT was still picking up speed. Needless to say the cop wasn't very happy with me. After numerous speeding, exhibition of speed (burnouts) and street racing on cruise night downtown tickets, I found out I was no longer insurable without paying an enormous amount of money. Sadly I sold the GTO and I literally bought a VW bug because I could afford the insurance. I learned a big lesson and it took years for all those tickets to drop off my license. Not to long after I bought the V Dub the engine came out and I turned it into a pretty cool street cruiser that was fast & cool. Now when I do burnouts I look in the rear view mirror first! LOL And you built a beautiful kit as always. I went to the hobby shop yesterday and bought some Testors spray paint and the back of the label says RUST-OLEUM Corp.
Chris+ love this channel you always do great work can't wait to see what you do with the dubble header trailers I have that kit I plan on build the cabover freightliner day cab single drive once again another great build I've been building models since the 1970s as a kid and still learn new technecs on painting and building thanks for the great tips With regard Dennis
I am building the amt revell issue of this and they must have using old worn out molds tons of flash and I'll fitting parts but with some patience it should come out ok your builds are fantastic
Have you ever used Vallejo Acrylic Model Color or Model Air paints? They brush very easy with excellent flow out. They dry flat but can be covered with Vallejo clear varnish for a gloss or semi-gloss finish. They are great for painting small details.
Yea I've used both. No issues, they end to dry out on the airbrush tip easily, and others have said the same but I have no problem using them if I need the color.
@@hpiguy I don't have tip dry issues when using their flow enhancer, but I use a #5/0 to #1 Winsor Newton Series 7 brush for small details. Their metallics are excellent for metal details. I have used them for about 20 years. I paint all my rusty "beaters" with them and leave them "flat' to show worn paint. They work well with hair spray chipping.
Another great job Chris, do you cut and polish the body because your finish is so smooth you are the best I have seen using spray cans and I have done models all my life. The gto looks so nice I will have to add one to the collection. Love your channel its just doing models as they are intended to be....fun.
I have the Same Kit from MPC...BUT In the Stock Version in Blue metallic...Looks BEAUTIFUL..I can't Wait to build it..
The RED looks Great on the GTO....Nice job...

This channel got me back to car modelling
Looks great! It might be fun to paint this in a gloss light olive color, with a flat black hood... I might try that
Sweet, enjoy!

Another great video and review build Chris. Thank you for doing these videos, they help all of us greatly. Keep up the AWESOME work. Take care, Don.

The body paint job looks great on the video. Nice job.
Nice!!!!! 67 GTO is badass looking. I picture it, just as you did it, except in dark blue.

My favorite year for the GTO, 66' was the best for the Chevelle IMO.
I apologize sir..
I watch all your awesome builds yet forget to give a thumbs up.

Both kits are great in my opinion, like you say.
Came out just lovely Chris! Let's see the next...... till then have a great weekend.

I'd get this kit just for the Christmas tree! I wish round 2 would come out with the 1/16 street charger. Awesome job as usual!

Thanks Jeff! No issues here. It may be soft on details compared to a new kit but it looks like a GTO inside and out and that's what I enjoy!
Great Build!!! Thank you for inspiring me to get back into the hobby, although my wife probably wouldn’t thank you! 😬 lol
You can do it!
