    Im glad to see im not the only one who makes these! I made mine out of a push mower rigged to an old wheelchair motor. The drive motors are windshield wiper motors, and i am using a 15A esc ( i think it was sabertooth ). It is VERY compact. About 1x2 feet. Good for small areas

    haha the sabertooth seems to be the most popular way of making RC lawnmowers. Used it in mine too

    Nice break into the world of R/C: this is pretty much exactly the same setup i have on my mower. sabbertooth 2X25, spectrum DX7 (i fly helicopters too), 2x 12v lead acid batteries in series (if im mowing) or paralel (if a friend is mowing), and a pair of wheel chair motors.

    Hi Robert, would ye be able at some stage to do a how to of how youve got the sabertooth 2x25 set up? im making an rc golf trolley and it would be a massive help to me to see how yours is set up. great work and keep it up! alternatively if you could take some pics of it so i can see how its connected that would be sick.

    @TheRemoteMower Wow, I really appreciate that. I wish I had ran into you a few months ago as I've already purchased 90% of all my parts and have most of the final design completed now...haha. I'll take note of your username though in case I build a second lawn mower in the future ;)

  • @GreenTechTown
    @GreenTechTown  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ihave2rocks The price for the controller is around $129. It is called the Sabertooth 2x25. Google that. As for the motors, those vary in price since people just sell those separate when they dissemble electric wheelchairs. eBay that :)

    @Gidgetman1989 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have contacts for the 2x25 sabortooth and the 3 channel controller working on a different project other than a RC lawn mower Thanks for the help

  • @Kramerfuckthis
    @Kramerfuckthis 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @RobertSmith3 Thanks for the quick reply, I have been looking around at different systems including Audrino and other expensive and complicated controls, this will cut the price of controlling the mower by heaps and will make it so simple to hook up :) Now to find cheap wheel chair motors in Aus. Thanks, Kramer.

    I see you are using a separate battery for your AR5000. I've heard there is problems using the BEC on the Sabertooth for the RC receiver? If so, maybe a separate BEC could be used? Keep up the good work!

  • @smartstuff2buy
    @smartstuff2buy 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video, wish you showed close up of connections on motorcontroller. Why not use Arduino? Isn't that cheaper?

  • @filipemarques4091

    You have the link of the battery?

  • @Pablo453
    @Pablo453 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've tried a 2ch (Harbor Freight plane) system and a 6 ch truck system, both at 27 Mghz.
    I only got 1 channel to work with the motor controller each time. (Sabertooth 2X25).
    I'm going to try a 2.4 Ghz radio next since that's what I see a lot of people using.
    I just hope I don't end up with another hundred dollars worth of spare parts.

    I have transmitter Spektrum dx5e and receiver Ar600. I am using sabertooth 2x25. I am using wheelchair motor - i am looking to build remote controller snow thrower. Right now I wanna get the first stage in check - connecting my sabertooth and wheelchair motors running. How did you connect the 6v battery to the AR600 receiver and what connections where made from the sabertooth to the AR600. Slots on AR600 from L to R; BIND/DATA, THRO, AILE, ELEV, RUDD, GEAR, AUX1. Thanks for your help! Lisa

    • @GreenTechTown
      @GreenTechTown  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tim. I haven't looked into cameras in a while, but I would point you in the direction to do a search for "RC cameras" and see if that pulls up something you find useful. Also, depending on how large the yard is you plan to use it for you should take into account to make sure the camera can cover the lawn size/max length.

    I just got my sabortooth and mine didn't need the battery on the receiver, it powered the receiver through the controller. I plan to use a pistol grip radio instead of the style in the vid, I'm trying to make it easier for a left handed person to use because my dad has a bad right hand and he'll want to play around with this too. lol

    In similar projects what do you suggest the type of circuit breaker or fuse?

    • @GreenTechTown
      @GreenTechTown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would suggest you use a breaker if you can, but most people would probably use a fuse since they are a little cheaper sometimes and you can find many size types.

  • @elmistergates5709
    @elmistergates5709 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Robert, I like to flip my motors up . Which would change the direction on them. My question , will the motors run in reverse with out any problem? Is that okay ? or will the motor burn up or mess-up due to not running the default direction? Because now my right motor will be on my left side and my left motor on my right side.

    I personally prefer using a dx3 steering wheel controller .
    check out my video's my mowers don't have a frame and the motors are tucked in tight giving you much better cutting up close to objects. I really like your video.
