Matt Johnson Jamiroquai liking me is the best thing to happen in my already wonderful life. Matt, do you like political history? I joke that the only reason I write it is to win the attention of jazz musicians. Let me know if you want one of my books. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Perlstein
I need that as well any advice greatly appreciated can you get advice on getting rid of the bedroom furniture and getting more synths in i think once you hear this fantastic video it will be good
This is the Mini Moog video I keep coming back to. Your playing is organic, making the Moog sound like a living breathing beast that it is!!! Many thanks Matt for always sharing.
I've watched this video so many times and each time I always hear something new. What I love the most about your art aside from being so soulful is how humble you remain, even though you are so talented. Thank you for blessing us with your music Matt, your great soul shows through it and I'm a total fan.
Thank you Matt for another beautiful performance. Everyone on the comments including myself clearly loves your playing. Thank you again and Happy Christmas.
The mini is just such a complete musical instrument. It transcends the term synthesizer. So much character and expressive quality! I love my Sub 37, but.......damn!
Hey Matt ! This is beautiful ! I've just discovered your channel, and i'm so happy to found you ! Not only because i was a big fan of Jamiroquai band back in time but also because i love how you play, explanations/teaching and your vibes ! So thank You very much for being here !
The MiniMoog is just a beautiful instrument. It works in just about any genre. Its just a timeless piece of gear. Lovely. Thanks for sharing. Love your touch.
Damn! Fantastic channel Matt! As someone else said, It's so rare to have legit pro-level keyboard players on YT. I would REALLY like to see a video on the playing techniques/theory you use when using a rhodes alongside a monosynth. Thank you for making these vids, don't get lost in the comments section ;)
I saw jamiroquai in Zurich years ago. And I think you played the bassline on the Alesis at deeper underground. I've never heard such a crazy deep synth bass - the whole stadium was shaking
I find it amazing that there are peeps who don’t dig this video, they’ve got to be sad little individuals. Such a great vid of a classic machine and some super hot playing.
So many synth videos make me want to go out and buy that synth - your videos always make me want to go and learn how to play the keys properly. Super inspirational as always, you're a one man band!
only 3 minutes into the video with a big smile and giggling to the brilliant playing and wonderfull sounds and tunes and rhythms!. Best keyboard/synth channel on youtube :)
If there was a fire in my house... you know which synth I’m grabbing. And that’s my Minimoog. Greatest synth I have ever played. Nothing compares. Covers every genre with ease and every sound is CRISP.
Matt what can i say once again to leave me and im sure many others utterly bliss filled. The Montage clav and Minimoog at 2.56 just has to be turned into a complete song at some point its utterly sublime. I have come to expect an honest heartfelt analysis of every device you do a video on and this is no different and simply the best available on the web as usual. You have a rare gift and an ear like few others. Keep up the outstanding work. Much love!
Whenever I think I can't hear any new new sounds from the Moog D, I get surprised how wrong I am, in a positive way. Of course, your playing gets it to another level, wishing of your videos to last much longer. Thanks for another great video and some beautiful music you shared with us.
Love how you actually make this sound like a real instrument. TH-cam is full of people who try to show you how to make the model d and other beautiful synths sound like an electronic fart, but damn can we just have some real music? Appreciate videos like this!
Man this reminds me of my old Model D. It was a later model and it probably needed major servicing, but it just sounded so huge (probably old components drifting out of spec over time). Different from other minis I tried. I really regret selling it. Absolutely lovely sound!
I'm spoiled owning an SE02, I fly it manual mostly. Definitely appreciate why this architecture is coveted. Thanks for the invite. Inspired noodles/D-doodles
Matt, this is sooo Awesome! You've GOT to do more videos like this as so many people would love to learn from you and hear your beautiful style again... Been farrrr too loonnnnggg and looking forward to many, many more! :-) All the best, M.
Great playing as always, I'm also happy that there are great new artists like vulfpeck and cory Henry that are playing disco-funk-soul music, I would like to see and hear a new Jamiroquai album and the growth of many new disco-funk-soul new bands.
Ethereal, spiritual, groovy, vintage goodness! You're like the best of Stevie Wonder, Teddy Riley, Herbie Hancock and a little bit of Earth, Wind and Fire sprinkled in for good measure! Fantastic playing and musicianship as always - props to the EP's on that Montage as well. Am now officially a fan and can't wait to hear what's next!!!
I recently read Gary Numan’s autobiography and he describes the moment back in whenever (70’s can’t remember off the top of my head) that he first came across the mini moog and how it just blew him away. After watching this I can see why now. OMG. Awesome. Awesome.
Thanks Matt, just what I needed. Have always regretted turning down the opportunity to buy a Model D when I had it. A Subsequent 37 doesn't quite cut it, but I love it anyway. Loving the Montage.
I would love to could play like that myself!!! Thanks for showing us how a real pianist can play the synth we love! Would love to play around with the space echo... btw
man idk if its him or this synth, but it really sounds alive and real... my moog little phatty doesn't sound nearly like this. Something about Matt's playing along with circuits that are decades old is what its all about
I have a Behringer Model D, UAD's fantastic Minimoog plugin, I even have the Minimoog app on my iPad and iPhone, you know, just in case I need a Mini on the move!
For a minute there I thought that was my old Minimoog. I had one that the case was so beat up that I painted it black. Immediately wished I hadn't, thought it looked like a toy afterwards. Mine had the clear pitch bend and mod wheels though. Wish I never sold it, even though I could never keep it in tune...
just discovered your channel last month via your Jupiter 8 vid and sub'd immediately. thoroughly enjoying your content! especially enjoyed 2:38 - 3:29. SO SICK!!
loving your videos. Glad to see a fellow artist also uses Montage 8. IDK why it gets so much backlash, as far as I can tell I rarely see it in gigs, mostly Nord, Korg... some Roland too. Your equipment collection is second to none... enjoy it mate :)
from my part I try to do the same with my prodigy wich I love testing different kind of textures. In this case bass, sounds effects and solo soundcloud.com/monsieurmo/summer-beguine
Outstanding playing and articulation. It doesn't matter whether it's a Model D or some other synth, it's always more about the player.
Agreed .
let me guess? just another VST 'player'...
I'm going to show this video to my wife to demonstrate why our home needs a Minimoog...

I've taken all the furniture out of my bed rooms to get more synths in I have no bed but 17 synths is a Yamaha sy 55 classed as a synth
Everyone needs a Mini or 3
An absolute legend of a musician 🙌
He makes my heart smile.....such a nice musician.
I collected all of Matt's keyboard reviews and made them into a playlist called "Vintage Soul" vol. 1
The warmth and phatness is unmatched!

idk what compelled you to make these videos but thank you. they're sooo cool. cheers from LA!
Maaan, you're the best on these synthesizers! Definitely how they're supposed to be played and heard. Much love thank you!
The Lead sounds and the playing seem to be Zawinul inspired... they're lovely
Would love a tutorial on how you programmed some of those sounds Matt! That second lead over the Rhodes 😍😍😍
The Fender Rhodes and the Minimoog is a match made in heaven. You do Toby Smith alot of justice and you're a brilliant keyboardist in your own right.
instantly recognizeable. the sounds, the swing, the chord preferences... I want another album, goddamnit
Thank you Matt for another beautiful performance. Everyone on the comments including myself clearly loves your playing. Thank you again and Happy Christmas.

And.. 12:10. Yeah, that's it!
a great synth is still a synth
Brings me joy and inspiration, such a good player, no channel quite like this!
Moot Booxle is good as well, same sort of Jazz funky analogue synth vibes.
Shall we be honest....this is why we appreciate Matt. Hard work and brilliance.
Completely gorgeous and not just your synths your vibe your chops your everything much love

What I love about your style Matt is how you keep these analog gems sounding so current. Love your music!
Your playing is sublime. Love every single video, so much tasty playing!
Love the way the moog cuts through with the lush bass! Lovely playing as usual I’m getting excited for the new material, bring it on 🙌🏻🎹🙏🏼😎🎶

Matt Johnson needs to be put in the legendary hall of fame of greatest KB players ever.
What better way to hear this synth than a jazz musician with a contemporary edge digging in to the sounds....
One of the best minimoog demos Ive heard, thank you
Good lord. That sounded amazing. I keep getting pulled into the rabbit hole deeper and deeper.

As working Minimoogs get rarer in this world there's a few people that should have one. I'm glad this one is with one of those people.
So much character and endless expression in your playing.
Marvelous Cosmos!....Thx for Your Art. Best wishes
Amazing! Thank you for just hanging out and playing. Learning a ton from watching you jam, especially those funky bass lines!
only 3 minutes into the video with a big smile and giggling to the brilliant playing and wonderfull sounds and tunes and rhythms!. Best keyboard/synth channel on youtube :)
If there was a fire in my house... you know which synth I’m grabbing. And that’s my Minimoog. Greatest synth I have ever played. Nothing compares. Covers every genre with ease and every sound is CRISP.
If I was Matt and there was a fire in the house, I'd just lay there and let myself burn with all those synth.
This is why you are the keyboard player in Jamiroquai.I am glad you have this channel so I can see what great keyboard playing looks and sounds like.

This man is a bit of a legend on the keys.
The mini sound near the end, with the external input overloading, reminds me a lot of the intro to Stevie Wonder’s Too High. Gorgeous!
All of your jams on this channel are so funky man, always entertaining watching you showcase these pieces with your awesome talent
Everything you do is so wonderfully musical. Great playing.

Absolutely awsome Matt.
Words cannot define it 👍👍
Such an amazing deep silky bass sound from the Moog. Looked like you had great fun playing
That is candy for the ears.
With my serious head on...Lovely lead themes tumbling into bass runs. Super subtle, deeply pleasant too. Thanks for posting, Matt.
Man this reminds me of my old Model D. It was a later model and it probably needed major servicing, but it just sounded so huge (probably old components drifting out of spec over time). Different from other minis I tried. I really regret selling it. Absolutely lovely sound!
Matt you did it again! Such a musical, groovy and melodic way to demonstrate a synth, as it should always be and rarely is.
That is one gnarly Minimoog! Sounds fabulous of course.
Well, you give just enough basic technical information to let us know what it's going to be about. The rest is just... music! Beautiful and inspiring!
Your playing motivates me to practice more.
Matt, your videos lighten up my day. You're an amazing musician. Can't wait to hear your upcoming solo album.
Loving this! Loving your videos! It‘s rare even on YT to see someone of your level of musicianship to share so openly. Appreciate it thanks!
I agree, tweaking parameters live while playing more than one keyboard is very impressive!

Appreciate you just being on TH-cam ..
Thanks for being there for me buddy I feel that you truly understand jack Valenti studio x
that one came out of the factory special sounding and somehow the black paint adds some extra menacing quality
That mini is a true gem! It's alive, alive!!!!
Matt, you have considerable range and talent. Thank you so much for sharing.
Free masterclasses by top musician, what is not to like?
Moog by the Maestro. That's truly a frightening patch at 5.01!
Stylish clothes... luscious hair... orgasmic playing... boundless talent... who is this God amongst men?

@@xxheartbrokexx100 Sure, but there is still a difference between players and owners ;)
Best moog demo i have ever heard
I always liked the Moog, but the real fascination started when I saw and tried one in our technical museum in Vienna, Austria
Came here to justify my recent purchase. It's beautiful. Thank you Matt.
the steep price will be justified, the first time you turn it on

Great music mate….binge listening to all your music.
The Minimoog is just special. No denying that.
Nothing sounds like the minimoog model D
5:02 Holy Moly! 😳 In a blindfold test, 101 out of 100 would say: “This is a Moog!”
Thanks Matt, just what I needed. Have always regretted turning down the opportunity to buy a Model D when I had it. A Subsequent 37 doesn't quite cut it, but I love it anyway. Loving the Montage.
