    I use 3 cards now and my father being a banker taught me nitty gritty of credit card usage very early on when my father was unwell and I had to make most of the purchases. And honestly, credit cards have helped me a lot but I could only reap their benefits due to the lessons I had which sadly enough, most people don't have. Kudos to the team for educating people this important but often ignored topic.

    4:05 MadterCard, VISA, American Express are not Credit Information Companies. There are four CIC in India - CIBIL, EQUIFAX, Experian and High Mark. Also, the score they provide isn't called CIBIL 3:59 (a general misconception); it's called credit score.

    • @AllenBaby7
      @AllenBaby7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      While we're at it, I should also point out that the statistics they provided don't give any meaningful insight on the situation. A person who spends a lot is more likely to have a credit card therefore the spends on credit cards will obviously be higher than debit cards which are held mostly by conservative spenders. Correlation doesn't mean causation.

      @@AllenBaby7 Yes, that's true. But recently SIDBI, CIBIL & OPL launched something called FIT Rank for the MSMEs. So, we can expect something like that in the field of credit card or any sort of personal loan in near future.

    My father was a high earning professional, I remember my parents using a credit card ever since I was a child. Due to personal reasons, had to get into a situation where our income was lesser but still fine. From that point point forward, I remember, everytime we had to pay off a large portion of the due or the entirety, something was sold. Cars, House or even Gratuity/PF. The only reason I see my self using a card is for the rewards, in a situation where I can actually afford stuff without a CC in the first place. I'd rather save money and invest lumpsum rather than for a few weeks.

    I think credit card is kind of a mind game between the bank and the user, if the user is smart and effectively uses his credit card to get all the benefits and pay on time then bank will lose money on the user but many people dont do this which is a big advantage for banks and a big source of income.

    I have been using credit cards for more than 5 years now and have like 20+ cards for different uses, it's a useful instrument only if you track your expenses carefully and stick to your budget.
    But if you are a spendthrift it's gonna put you in really bad position financially.
    I always advice that you spend only that much amount from your credit card that you have in your bank account so that you can get 50days interest free loan and earn interest on the amount and pay as soon as the bill generates.

    I don't know if it applies in general but where I am from has a system of auto-debit which links your bank account to your credit card account and automatically transfers the full amount of bill on the last day of your billing cycle. You just have to enable it once and then you just make sure you have enough money in your linked bank account. There is no fear of forgetting to pay. Also you can pre-instruct your card authority to block further transactions if you hit a given (defined by you) amount of bill within a month. That gives you an automatic safeguard against over-spending.

    Credit cards are a good thing if you are using them wisely. I told you my story I don't have a cibil score when I was in my first year of graduation. So I made a fd of rupees 10k then I took a credit card against it. The credit limit of that card is 90%of my fd in my case it is 9000 rupees because that limit is low and as a college student we don't need so much credit. That thing made me have a habit of using my credit card effectively. Now my cibil score is 800+ and i am using almost 10 credit cards now. I don't just learn how to use a credit card but to make your cibil score from scratch.

    I asked my Relationship Manager about the "50 day Interest Free Grace Period" in India
    In Canada, credit card companies give you 21 days grace, after the end of the billing cycle, to pay off your entire balance interest free.
    My RM says, its the same here, 20-21 days grace period after billing cycle ends (usually 30 - 31 days) BUT in India they market it as "50 Days Interest Free Period" 🤷🏽‍♂

    Totally agreee ... Nasha to h credit card me but i stricted the uses of CC for emergency purpose only also i Never used it for my any luxury.
    P.S. -: I detached my CC frm bank leaflet after 2 years of issuing. (So i can proudly say I'm controlling my inner needy 'n greedy person which can be soft influenced by peers)

    Wait. 13:28 does not look like 77% and 23% to me 😆. And that covering of the other part with DP also seems suspicious 🤣
    Did you guys think no one will notice that 😜. Great content anyways 👏👏

    Amazing content as always but I have just one suggestion for you guys. Get rid off the little skits that you do in the middle. They add nothing to the narrative and just end up being distractions. I really love when you guys speak straight to the camera but the skits break this superb flow.
    Really appreciate the content

    08:20 Using the RBI data for comparing the average spends of credit and debit card users is fundamentally flawed.
    Credit cards are rarely issued to employees/workers in non-organized sectors. So, credit card users are generally the high earners in India who have the potential to spend more.
    For a fair comparison, you should compare similar income brackets credit card vs debit card spends.

    People forget credit card is loan your are taking from the bank. One more thing is you have to do is to monitor your credit report and immediately report if any issues. What i usually do with my credit card is set up all utilities and insurance in auto-pay. Set up auto pay from bank to card and always try to spend the amount in bank. Although I have not paid any credit card interest i have to admit i have overspent quite a bit due to credit card.

However, I did notice that the sound of the narrator's voice was a bit low compared to the background music. It would have been easier to follow along if the volume was balanced better. Keep up the great work!"

    Am owning a credit card with upper limit of 56k since 10 years. I refuse their offer to increase limit.. to lower the severity of death trap. Its easy to take loan of 50k than for 1 lac.😄

    • @anmolkale16
      @anmolkale16 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can always take the increase limit and then set your usable limit to 56k, that’ll help in increasing your credit score as your credit utilisation would go down.

    I learnt this in a hard way.
    Had to take a PL to wiggle out. Now I have learnt to reap the benefits but I wouldn’t recommend a CC to anyone who I see to be vulnerable as I was then. Always I ask them to research about what they are getting into and get one if they are self aware.
