- The Indian Pacific train runs between Perth, Western Australia, and Sydney in New South Wails. This train covers a distance of 4352km or 2704 miles and includes the longest stretch of straight railway in the world which is 487km. This week I have enjoyed 4 days on this magnificent train, traveling with my Guide Dog, Penelope.
In this video you will see some of the train's movements throughout the trip including: West bound Indian Pacific passing Mayland station on the east of Perth; the moment the Indian Pacific leaves for Sydney; the train at Cook; the train arriving at Parklands terminal in Adelaide after it spends time at the maintenance facility; the train drawing forward in Broken Hill; it's arrival into Sydney and it's departure from Sydney westbound through Redfirn station.
Train stats:
1pa8, Perth to Adelaide = loco NR25 with 29 carriages including 1 moterrail. A total length of 700m weighing 1400t with 210 passengers and 38 crew.
3as8, Adelaide to Sydney: 27 cars with loco NR25 and G530 to assist up the mountains; 1313t; 200 passengers and 35 crew.

Thanks this was interesting. I am listening more attentively since I want to hear an see what you do. Strange that I never heard the sound of a train go in slow motion over the links, I think it's called that. Take care and enjoy the ride.
It was absolutely amazing, I loved all of this footage, I should’ve made it a shorter video but I just couldn’t cut anything out. There are some more videos to come, not quite as focused on the train itself, but I’m sure you will enjoy those as well.

Mel did I once meet you at the Thirlmere railway museum undertaking volunteer training?
Great video btw.
No, I don’t think so. Hope you enjoyed the video.
I typically don't watch passenger train or overseas railfanning videos, but this was recommended by a friend. I like it. Never seen Australian locomotives before. They sound just like American ones, but the cabs look different.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. These locos are made and designed in Australia by a place called "Pacific national". As you may have heard, I'm blind, so I've never seen an american loco, but it is cool that they sound kind of simmilar.
I miss u 😢
I will message you when I get home.
