Very clean, well-done infrastructure, no litter, no graffiti!!! Really jealous, guys! Best regards from far away Georgia somewhere in the middle of Caucasus mountains. 😉
Wow, Perth Trains are fast compared to Melbourne's oh-so-slow rail system. The trains there are restricted to 80 km/h over most of the network, and even as slow as 20 in some places. And they crawl into every station, including Flinders Street. Whereas Perth's trains hit at least 100 km/h (both A and B series), possibly faster, and glide into every station at speed, including Perth Central. And WA uses narrow gauge! I miss Perth so much, and I keep wishing I'd never left (stuck on the East Coast). Thank you for uploading these videos so I can enjoy some nostalgia. ☺☺☺
This video truly brought back my memories of living in Perth in early 2000s. Back then both Midland and Fremantle lines were my favorite. Midland line is the line where I used to do trainspotting to hunt down the rare Indian Pacific train, or if I was lucky locomotive movements. Fremantle line is perhaps the most popular for the tourists. It is the service that sees the most beautiful people, plying the best places in Perth metropolitan area. Indeed Fremantle line was the very first Transperth line that I traveled with, way back in 1997. And I'm truly surprised that after the modifications in Perth station, Fremantle train service still departs from platform 7.
No wonder I could not find anything like this. This was posted LONG after I originally looked for such an In cab Video of Perth. Im doing Perth In Train Simulator. Thanks for Posing these.

Oh my.... These are bloody marvellous - it's like being back at home, and from Tasmania that's not easy to do a great deal. Would love an Armadale line trip to complete the set :)
stalincom Thanks. Eventually, all lines will be covered. I would also like to cover the Thornlie and Armadale runs separately, even though they largely use the same track route.
Yeah that does make sense - if I remember right the Armadale services just express through to Cannington these days and leave all the stations before that to the Thornlie trains, so they are quite different. Look forward to them :)
Looked like a nice day in Perth. Been loving these videos, it really makes you feel you are there for the ride. I get it now the train toots the horn whenever they come towards a crossing. Interesting!!!! 😁
My family and I are moving to Perth at the end of 2020 (I live in Queensland) and we went there last year and we always took the trains around. Can’t wait to do it again =D
Fantastic videos for studying the Perth rail lines. Thanks again mystery rail car guy! Would be awesome if you felt like doing an update run on all the lines ;)
@@Tysxno they often don't move nicely though! The intercity trains can fly at times, through the suburbs, but it's only the Sydney North West Metro that would keep up with Perth trains & Melbourne is no better. Wanna move though the suburbs of Melbourne? V/Locity DMU on Regional Rail Link, is your only option! Are the nasties letting Melbourne move @ the moment?
@@johnsergei nice to know Perth is kind of leading in trains hahaha, I also believe our transport network is the most organised and easy to understand or use no?
@@Tysxno Only if you are near a railway line. Mellbourne's, when it had Perth Or Adelaide's current population, in the 1930s had 14 electrified railway lines & about 25 tram routes & 700 or so trams. Sydney @ the time had 1,600 trams. Remember, even a suburban steam train is a faster and more comfortable journey than a modern urban bus & for most commuters in Perth, Brisbane & Adelaide, that is their only option. A modern tram makes a bus ride feel like chucked in the back of a truck & most sound like the fucking engine room of a Sydney ferry I would have loved to have seen Perth and Brisbane before rail electrification. The change has been much greater than in Sydney and Melbourne, which have basically the same system, just with new trains. I have lived in Adelaide over the decades too & finally the sparks are taking over there too. It had a bigger rail system than Perth in the 1970s, with far more DMU railcars and routes, & it's now smaller @ least in terms of usage & I think shorter? In fact in the 2000s the patronage was a tiny fraction of Perth @ the time, which has grown from 2 miserable slow, noisy stinky, unkept lines 40 years a go efficiant, comfortable system in this & other videos.
@@johnsergei wow this is really interesting to read, I don’t know enough about trains like this hahah All I know is our original series electric trains are still being used and run very well, and we’re way ahead of their time, atleast I think Trams seem like a good idea but I’m not sure about in PERTH in the modern day, the cat buses seem to work well, especially to be free to ride
When you think about it, a 55 minute trip from one end of the line to other is actually not bad, considering it takes 52 minutes for a trip from Mandurah into the city, then another 40-ish from Perth to Butler.

Excellent; it brought back memories of the Bayswater - West Midland run (schooldays) 1959/1960. Much has changed, Cresco appears to have gone, as does the steam loco wrecking yard immediately east of Bayswater. I hope swimming is still permitted at the Guildford bridge (but not for those snobby Grammer boys (grin!)). Chris
Mostly on the Midland, Armadale & Fremantle lines you find A-Series trains. On the Joondalup & Mandurah lines you find B-Series. So likely to be A-Series
The three rails make the Midland line a mixed gauge (also known as dual gauge) route. The third rail is for standard gauge services, such as the Indian Pacific and Prospector passenger trains.

What were those beepings? Are they to indicate the change in the speed limit?
The beeping is the ATP unit updating. It updates whenever a speed limit changes, after departing from station stops and at some signals.
What's with the extra track is that for frieght trains or something?
The three rails make the Midland line a mixed gauge (also known as dual gauge) route. The third rail is for standard gauge services, such as the Indian Pacific and Prospector passenger trains.
Oh damn I didn't know that thanks so much 🙏
Bennett Brook Railway it Broad, Standard and Narrow gauge.
My thoughts as a melbournian are...where the f is all the graffiti!?
Gregory Linde It's definitely around. Transperth are pretty good at keeping on top of it though.

Transperth run Narrow Gauge, and the third rail is for interstate trains that run Standard Gauge. Transperth is 25Kv overhead.

TH-cam "Rooty Hill" railway, it's a station in the outer western suburbs of Sydney, it's very flat dry and dusty with long straight sections of track.
Kevin Cobley Well, it certainly can get dry in Perth. Most years we only get about 50mm of rain between December and May!
Safe for passengers.
