My cat doesn't cuddle but he follows me pretty much whichever room I go into. Him wanting to be near me tells me how much he loves being in My presence. I don't need cuddles if he doesn't want to
Mine is the same way. She has never liked cuddling, but follows me everywhere, her tail is always up, and always sleeps next to me. I think she doesn't like her fur messed up.
Exactly! Mine cuddles for 5 minutes after breakfast but is aloof most of the time. He’ll follow me room to room, likes tummy pets, very playful, smart, always near me laying on bed an arms length away. I know he loves me. Gives lots of licks as kisses. He’s a lover! That’s fine with me!❤❤
I had a cat like that once, a tuxedo that I found as a small kitten abandoned in a rural country cemetery. She was anxious and easily spooked her whole life, and never would cuddle with me or sleep on my lap, but just lay next to me when I was sitting on the couch. I was glad to give her a home for her whole life, and she gave me an appreciation of Tuxedos.
I have a Tuxedo cat that adopted me... 😇 He is not cuddly & is exactly as you describe... he spooks at the slightest noise... he sleeps at the bottom of my bed... I love him so much!
My tuxedo is the same as both of urs. & likewise I love her so very much & she does know this. Although she won't sit on my lap or allow me to carry or cuddle her... she has her own way of saying I care for u too. Sleeps at my feet & shes always over the moon in the mornings when I get up. When I'm in the bathroom she'll wait for me at the door till I come out. I think she simply likes to be independent & do her own thing whenever or whereever she wants. For which I love her all the more! 🐈⬛
I have a cat like that but i think because we don’t have people around us just me and her she won’t let me carry her pet a little bit. My house is very inviting comfortable clean. But at night is my time with them they lay near me all night. I’ll take that
Good on you for giving that kitty a great life. Our tiny tuxedo girl (a rescue) was one of the cuddliest cats we've ever had. She slept under the covers with us at night, and she would have crawled under our skin if she could have. She lived 18 years.
I have 2 cats, Simba is clingy following me everywhere, sleeps next to me but doesn’t like being held. Luna is not clingy, more independent but every morning demands her pets and lets me hug her, then she’d rather just chill by herself. I don’t try to force their affection. I just respect and enjoy what affection they show in their own way. I love my fur babies.
My kitty boy never cuddles and that’s okay. He adopted me. He was homeless and came to my door crying to be fed. I’ve had him 6 years now and still no cuddles but… he sleeps right by my side every night. I am his human and I wouldn’t trade my Frankie kitty boy for anything in this world❣️He is my Lion King.💗🐾
@@cathy1464 my last cat was exactly like that. She came here as a little ball of fluff, insisting that she lived here, much to the disgust of my resident cat. I had my little stray for 14 years, and she never once sat on my lap, and was always very nervous. She died a few weeks ago and I was so very lost without her.
This video really helped me. Almost a year ago we adopted a sweet 8 year old long haired siamese mix. As a young cat she had suffered such extreme abuse that the vet recommended euthanasia to the man who found her nearly beaten to death. He pleaded with them to try and save her and they did. He gave her a good home for 6 years but circumstances changed and he had to find her a new home. We have her now and are giving her all the love we can.
I have a male ginger cat that would never cuddle and never sit on my lap. He was aloof. After five years or so, now he’s a Velcro cat. I have no idea what got into him. I’m loving it. He’s extremely affectionate now.
Same. Our orange ginger cat is 4 years old. He loves us and I adore him but he does not cuddle. 😢 So there is still hope since yours cuddled by age 5 years
Exactly, mine is a ragdoll & isn’t super cuddly, but I told the breeder I wanted a more independent personality, because I go to work & I was afraid a too needy kitten would have been a problem, so she sleeps near me, se play, I pet her, but not a lap cat & that’s fine by me, why did I watch this, because I wanted to make sure I was doing thing correctly for my baby.
My tuxedo cat wandered into our lives as a tiny feral kitten who wanted a better life. (apparently😊) He’s never been super snuggly, and when he is, it’s on his terms. We just know that’s who he is and cherish those rare snuggle times.
Same here thing here. Caught a feral kitten. She's not a cuddle cat either. In just the past year she will climb on my lap while I am asleep, and sleep there too. She will not sleep on any other family member. I love her. I take what she has to offer when she offers it. 🐈⬛
100. I rescued both my girls together one is super super cuddly in my face showering me with kisses!! She sleeps on me for hours at a time at night. Her sister got the same love and she just isn’t as snuggly
I have a feral cat. He was rescued as a tiny kitten. He is not affectionate and will sometimes bite if you make a false move near him. After seven years he is getting a little better. He preferred the company of our two old dogs. Unfortunately the dogs died at the age of 15 about one year apart early this year and last year. I know he misses them. He will lie on top of me for a while when I’m napping and he sleeps on my bed which is high off the floor. He has all the things recommended in this video but I’m afraid he’ll always have that feral lineage. He likes it when I tell him he’s a good boy. He learned that from the dogs.
I have been catsitting on & off for a month to 6 weeks for a beautiful female Calico. She hasn't let me pet her yet. However she has been getting closer in distance to me when my male tuxedo rubs up against me. I've been caring for her, feeding her, & cleaning her cat pan, yet she bonded with my cat! 😅 I talk to her often & she does respond with "meows".
My fur baby was born to a hoarder who had 200+ cats in the house. She was 7 months old when she was saved. For years she would not even sit in my lap. About 6 weeks ago she climbed up on my lap. And tonight (Nov. 2) she got in my lap and started making biscuits!!! It took 8 years but we are making progress. 😊
I have a different viewpoint since adopting our feral British short hair cat who was feral past time to train, they said. Therefore, they had a hard placing her, several times brought back to the rescue center. Enter me who has never picked a cat. Cats always picked me. I waited 6 months. No cat. So I adopted Miss EliMae. I was told she was not adoptable, nice, cuddly & not so nice things. Nevertheless, I thought we would be a good fit. I was so right. Ten later, she is my love. But the first 6 months was rocky. I didn't see her. Oh she was in the home. I saw the water & food bowl & sandbox being used but never saw her or heard her just her bell I quickly put on. I decided she had a home. I have all the time for her to come to me when she was ready. She did. Baby steps by baby steps. Dental treats were our training tools. Very intelligent cat. Very loving. Very trainable. She snuggles with me at night and purrs, then turns her back to me in protective mode. When she looks at me & I slow blink she automatically calms down & purrs with slow blinks. She will jump on my lap and be brushed belly and all (trainable). I even trained her to go to our bedroom. Her safe room. Can't train her to love her claws clipped, though I still give her dental treats. She hates baths. I don't even try. I do use a boar brush, which she loves & cleans her fur, nice & silky. That is one of my latest research. I really feel sorry for those people who brought Miss EliMae back. The rescue center that I adopted her from were surprised when they called for a visit. But she was still not ready. So I told them anytime she is ready to meet her forever family, they are welcome to see our interaction. They understood if she kept hidden forever, it was still her home, her family. That's all anyone needs. To be loved.❤
Why can't you be her "forever" family? She loves and trusts YOU now, but will likely have to go through the whole traumatic trust-game all over again if you re-home her to somebody else after taking all that time to get her trusting and loving you.
I agree with ChiTown. It would be traumatic for her to leave you. She would revert back to not being seen and likely won’t bond with them because she will have been abandoned before by you. Please reconsider and call it a “foster fail”. She has agreed for you to be her human. Please don’t let her down.
My new cat will cuddle occasionally, but she follows me everywhere, adores playing with me and tolerates being picked up for a minute or two. She comes when called and greets me with huge love and purrs when i get home. She shows her comfort with me in other ways and as she gets older, i expect she'll start cuddling more. Right now the world is just too exciting !
I had a Russian Blue who would only cuddle with me once in a while but no one else in the family. I'm pretty sure he sought me out when he was dying, that day I was watching tv he jumped on my lap and meowed at me, I started to pet and scratch him behind his ears; he was there about 10mins before he passed. sad day for me
My story to all cat lovers...We took a ferral cat in off the streets, a beautiful grey & white boy, who had lost his tail. Took him years to understand he had a home, he roamed off four times but thankfully found his way back. He loves a fuss & gives back love, but goes ridged if you pick him up, he will never be a lap cat, but he has the most gentle, sweetest personality. We've cracked it now, after 12 years, likes his home comforts, meals a plenty, warmth, company from our other little girl rescue, & abundant love. 🐱 x
Early attachment to a kitten's Mother is crucial and has the biggest life long effects. We have raised many kittens that had loving Mom's and were socially adjusted but two kittens just weeks old lost their Mother and despite our care, the lack of contact with their Mother left them anxious, neurotic and asocial as adults their entire adult lives. In contrast, the responsible breeders of very expensive Siberian kittens will NOT let their kittens be adopted until they are 4 months old. This is based on the knowledge that kittens need a minimum of 4 months of socialization with their Mom and siblings to be optimally socially adjusted.
My rescue orange tabby is not a cuddler but he does prefer to be near his people most of the time. He was found on the streets at 7 months old, so his previous experiences probably were not good.
I have never had a kitty that I couldn't cuddle with or hold like a baby, I think it comes down to earning their trust and letting them come to you, grooming them, playing with them and of course feeding them.
Thanks for your the information. It will help me deal with my cat that has all kinds of stres. An unsettled ways it came to me in my garden. I had nobody so I adopted her and she adopted me.
With stressed cats as well with humans patience & love take time & healing. My feral cat has taken 10 years to get where we're are. The first six months after adoption, i knew she was there because of the food, water & sandbox but besides that I did not. She was older when brought to the rescue center and she was brought back several times to the rescue center. Took time. But she is definitely my princess, no doubt. The families who brought her back did not know what a Dimond she became. Everyone loves her. Just needed love, family, & space to deal with her trauma the best way❤
I have 2 cats. My 16 yr.old female grey tabby , who I rescued at birth (a barn cat & the runt of the litter) never likes to be held. But at night, I have a pillow above my pillow, where she comes to sleep. She starts off kneading on the pillow, which I call dancing, then continues on my hand. I almost lost her 2 months ago until I took her to the vet & through tests found out she needed to be on thyroid meds. That explained her weight loss & now she's doing fine! 😊
Whenever I would come home I would pick up each of my 3 dogs and cuddle them. I tried to do it to my kitten but at 1st she wasn't having it so I left her alone After seeing the dogs doing it after awhile she started lining up and waiting for her turn.
My cat isn't cuddly st all but he likes to be brushed and sleeps with me, other then that. Nothing. I use to worry about it but now im just convinced thats his nature and he loves being alone. Very independent ❤
Mine was a rescue cat. I may have commented 2 months ago, but revisited this video, today, because this morning was a breakthrough. I got her from my daughter, who found her at a shelter. She was only 8 weeks when she picked her up. Meanwhile, she was spayed, got home and the other cat in the family rejected her attempts to play, became defensive of her territory. There is more we have since learned about introducing new pets, as well as bringing them home from the vet. There is a trick we should hall learn! However, when I got her, she had experienced the trauma of several factors, yet once a day she would cuddle, then got to sleep. I had not decided to keep her, was merely a foster "grandmother". I had her sleep on the couch, while I was behind closed French doors. I think this contributed to her lack of bonding. This morning, despite the fact she has learned to sleep or be quiet in her little cosy bed for about 8 hours, I woke her up when I coughed. She would not let me go back to sleep, tried to bite my toes. I teased her by play growling, after telling her "no". I often tell her she has pretty toes, so she knows what I mean. I "threatened", playfully, to bite her pretty toes". I got my tea. Got back into bed and she came to snuggle. She let me pet her in all her favorite places for a long time and rested in the crook of my arm, just like old times. We had moved and I think it took her a long time to trust that we were settled, especially since I was away due to a death in the family. [she had to go back to the old place and live outdoors with the other 2 feral cats she grew up with. My daughter went over to feed them.] Now, I think she liked my teasing. Not sure what that was all about. Things have definitely settled down. I have used many of these ideas for weeks!
Now she knows that even if she does something that really bothers me, I will never hurt her. I don't know what took so long to convince her. I have never hurt her and only raised my voice a little. To get her to stop scratching furniture, all I have to do is say, "No, I don't WANT you to scratch my chair!" She stops right away.
Many cats enjoy being on our lap, enjoy us petting them, they enjoy sleeping on us, but don't like it when we close our arms around them. It is what it is. I don't try to change them.
Same here. Mine loves me to death, I know it, but no cuddles, no kisses. She makes up for it in other ways. I don't make her do anything she doesn't want to.
My previous cat was a 15+ ex-stray when I adopted him, and was the cuddliest cat you ever met. He'd go out of his way for snugglies. My new cat, a 17 year old house cat, is very alofe, and prefures just to sleep next to me. I find it amusing that an independent stray and a life long indoor cat, have attitudes about cuddling that seemingly contradict their respective histories.
My sweet girl was in a horrible place when younger. She was a Ferrel young cat and was trapped by a friend. I've had her here for three years now and she has been slowly coming around. I still have to be mindful of touching her when she's not perceptive to it. She's a snow shoe Siamese and is very guarded. I am still working on her after three years. I can now pick her up. But she still gets stiff and guarded. But that's okay. I know she's still learning. She makes baby steps. One day she will be well in her own time. Patients' is the key. I love her she's such a sweet girl. She's been through so much. My Suki...
The problem is that people act as if cats are puppies. Cats are there own people they aren't mean't to be carried around and snuggled like dogs. I don't know why people have to force their cats to be something they are not. We have 6 cats and there is only 1 that likes to be held and loved on. We do not force that on the others. When they want to be loved on and be beside you they will come to you. I hate the misconceptions people have toward cats. Just let them be themselves. It doesn't bother me that I can't hold the other 5. I just love the fact they are in my life and I know they are safe from harm. When they are ready for affection they will let you know. Let them be❤
So very true 😀 If you want a dog, get a dog. Cats are very different from dogs and each other. You disrespect them at your own peril. I have had many cats, snugglers and aloof ones. Presently an 8 year formidable lady from the shelter. We love each other to bits, but don't you try to force her. Great! I don't want to be pushed around either.
My cats have always been rescued. All but one loved to cuddle and she was abused by a teenage girl when she was a tiny kitten. She never got over the abuse.
Some people want to make sure they are acting appropriately. You are not the only person in the world to enjoy and understand cats. Surely you understand that some cats have experienced trauma, right? Some people haven't thought about that. How about relaxing and helping people be kinder?
Yep, my black was in his mommy when she was trapped. Once born, he was kept for adoption. His mother’s fear and anxiety during the trapping may have had a lasting effect on him. He’s been with me for eight years and i still cannot pick him up. He does sit on my lap for a minute or two. My female was never handled by the humans in the house that she was born in. The had a huge german shepherd and she interacted with the dog the most. Consequently, she loved my big dog and not me.
My cat and I live in a nice quiet environment. He shows me affection in his was and I respect his boundaries. Him not so much, like when I’m on the toilet, he likes to hang out in my pants. Follows me everywhere and can be a bed hog. Cuddly, no but his paw will be touching my foot or leg. That’s his way of being affectionate. He is my guardian. He lays facing the entry to my bedroom doorway for a while and will then join me for a while in my bed. He wakes me up everyday leaning over my side. It’s awesome. He does the belly up so I know he trusts me and even likes gentle belly rubs. On the days I have a home health aide, he is on duty and he does not take his eyes off them, but being friendly towards them at the same time. He will watch them until he can no longer stay away. He is my best friend and protector. He would never allow someone to hurt me and vice versa. I do have cameras to keep an eye on the aides myself. Kicked on out who tried to kick my cat. She told her boss she shewed him away with her foot, I was like really now we are gonna play with words. Don’t send her back period! It’s like that.
I got my cat from someone who found him in someone's garage. We think it was one of those cases of the mama cat carrying him away from her litter. The person who found him couldn't find any neighbors who knew of a mama who had a new litter. He had just opened his eyes when I got him. So he's only ever known me. I held him a lot when he was little, and held him while I nursed him with orphan formula of course. I played with him a lot. Yet as he grew he became a cat who hates being held and only likes his head being petted. He gets bitey if I touch him anywhere else.
Our cats cuddle to varying degrees. We let them be who they are, but if they show signs of previous bad experiences, we try to get them over that. We have a street cat right now who went from no contact to growling and purring at the same time when she is snuggled for short periods. She is slowly coming to enjoy the contact.
I have had cats since 1974. Sixteen years ago my daughter asked me to take in a cat that lived with students that were all moving on to their careers. She was abused. She is a black and white cat and her white was dyed pink. She has been a nightmare. She fights non stop with my other cats. She will sleep on my bed but will bite and scratch in a flash.I have done my best. She is very elderly now but never been a content cat.
@@kathymc234 11 weeks old now, and still lots of claws and teeth! She’s gentle when she’s calm now, so I like to think that’s progress, but when she’s in a manic mood she forgets all that and uses claws and teeth. She climbs up my legs ( using claws) and my legs look as though I have a rash from all the tiny puncture wounds! She’s awake for longer periods now before she falls asleep, usually on my lap, or right beside me. It’s nice that she trusts me like that, at least.
I have a Russian Blue and she is extremely cuddly. She loves to have big cuddles with me several times per day. However, when my mum’s Chihuahua lived with us my cat became so stressed that and overwhelm that I feared she was experiencing a nervous breakdown. Now that the dog has gone back home to live with my mum my Russian Blue is so calm, peaceful and very happy again. 😃
I have a male Nabulung and he is very reserved but is always within 3 feet of me. Will follow me up and down the stairs. He sleeps by my door every night, but won’t cuddle. He was a stray but is hurt when I’m gone a few days…just how he is.
Early interactions = good point. We got ours from the RSPC, and being dumped because they had cat flu, and the owner didn't want to pay to get them healthy...I can see that
My ragdoll doesn’t even like to be touched, which is a major disappointment because I got a ragdoll thinking that it was going to be like a golden retriever dog
The only thing that worked for me was interactive play. My child is now five years old and I’ve had him on those three years. He looks like part ragdoll, but at least he gets along with my other cat. That’s all I can ask for
Good video. I got my cat when she was 19 months old she's now 8 years old i had her for 6 months before she'd come sit on my knee now she will sit and cuddle for hours also sleeps beside me and follows me everywhere she still doesn't like you to touch her front paws though. People say she's spoiled because i cook her meals she won't eat cat meat only cat biscuits i say she is well loved. She is also a house cat.
I have siblings a boy and a girl. She LOVES to cuddle. He is very affectionate and loving but he is not a cuddler, he just wants belly rubs. He lives for belly rubs. Ironically he is twice as affectionate as her, she has cat-atude, and likes her alone time. She goes under my bed to sleep when she wants to be alone.
I'v 2 cats Black Shorthair male very affectionate loving cuddle cat A female mackerel Tabby miss independent if you pick her up or try to cuddle her she'll mews and will scratch if your not careful I thought it might be the bread I adore them both Thanks for video
If cuddling, carrying, holding, being with you all the time is important, there are Ragdolls, who mostly do these things naturally. But even they don't come with a guarantee, and their lack of independence means most breeders won't sell to you if you're away at work all day, unless you get two (or have other, very mellow, cats). I have always succeeded at getting my cats accustomed to sleeping with me, which is what I like. Each one has done it his own way, though, as is to be expected. Another option for cuddlers is to get an adult cat. At our shelter the cuddly cats go straight to people and are very affectionate. The aloof ones may become cuddly, too, of course.
Haven't seen any videos on this topic for multi-cat homes. Last year I adopted two kittens, one male and two months later a female from my county shelter. The male was a stray with limited socialization, and the female was surrendered at four months of age by her family. The male cat is extremely sociable, follows me everywhere and cuddles at all times of day and night. The female is active and happy, with her tail always up and curled forward. She is very independent and does not like to cuddle or be carried. After several months she now lets me pet her head. Other than maybe an early bad experience with her previous family, how much impact may be from my other cat constantly marking me and close to m?. Could this be more of a territorial issue between them?
Absolutely not. The female is happy with her tail held high and curled. She will come around. I train my cats with dental treats. It does double duty. Clip nails = treats. Brush = treats. Train them to be in my lap or come to me or cone sleep with me = treats. Cats are real smart. Some may not want to. That's their personality. It may take six months. Baby steps & patience. Family life will be their tomorrow always.❤
I have a Siamese rag doll mixed since he was 7 days old. It took 5 of us to bottle feed and raise him. I pick him up and he makes an mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sound. He hates being picked up. Even when you go to pet him. He runs away. The only time he wants to protect me and receive pets is when I’m in the bathroom. My other 4 love to cuddle. My 6th one only lets me touch him is when he’s getting snackies. He really is very timid.
Another reason you left out: Long-haired cats or cats which have thick, dense coats get hot easily, and that is why they may not care to be exposed to their caregiver's body heat for long.
My cat wants everything but cuddles. She'll follow me around from room to room. Lay right next to me. She'll even jump up on my shoulder and hang out like a parrot. But when I pick her up she'll let me hold/hug her for no more than 10 seconds tops before she's wanting to be let go.
I have 2 boy cats one is incredibly affectionate the other is not very socially affectionate.. I believe the non affectionate one was born feral. And the other was born in a better place.. The one born feral has taken years to get comfortable with me. He rarely lets me touch his head I'm not sure what happened to him before I adopted him but he's getting better every day
My cat loves to cuddle. She sits on my lap, and cuddles next to my legs when I sleep. But she does not like to be picked up! I mostly respect this, but sometimes I will pick her up for a few seconds. She will tolerate it, because she trusts me, but she does not enjoy it!
I love my cat! He’s a British Shorthair, I would live it if he would cuddle with me, but I’m okay with him not cuddling too. He’s too cute, as are all cats, wot worry about one trait in them that they don’t have.
My kitten wasn't cuddly, he'd lie next to me on a chair or couch and put his feet on my leg. It wasn't till he was 2 years old and up, he'll drape himself across me, either my upper legs or stomache, or he'll sleep up against my stomache if I lie on my side, or he sleeps against my upper back.
My male cat wasn't a cuddler unless he was laying on the bed for a nap and he would let me kiss and hug him, also follow me everywhere, if l had my back to him cleaning he would tap me on the shoulder wanting to be a part of what l was doing, whrn he got very sick he would lay on my lap for hours, l miss Spunky Spirit an Soul his full name, but we called him Spirit
Our black feral cat adopted us 3 years ago. He likes being petted and will sleep by me when he chooses but mostly likes being outside. My husband says we’re taking him home from Italy to Texas. He does not accept being picked up & held. The security at the airport requires him to be carried through security without collar or halter. He’s going to be scared and panicking. Anyone dealt with this and can offer ideas?
One of my cats has taken to urinating in boxes and containers. The litterbox is clean. Can't figure out why kittie does this. I can't leave boxes, bags or containers out anymore.
UTI. Take to vet. They feel pain upon urinating and think the box is causing the pain so they go in other places trying to get away from whatever is inflicting pain.
I’m a (mostly) cat doctor, and you describe a complex problem. Cats always have reasons for what they do. Territory feuding? Enough litter pans? One per cat plus one is recommended. Is the litter absorbent enough? Older cats produce more urine and they don’t like getting their feet wet. (If he still poops in the litterbox it’s a clue to this issue) Is the litterpan where there is unrestricted access? No narrow spots to allow ambush by other cats or dogs? Away from machinery that beeps or buzzes unexpectedly? Out of high traffic? Ruled out physical issues like cystitis or bladder infection? There are prescription foods that reduce bladder irritation. Litter pan issues are the most common cause for euthanasia. I have adopted more naughty cats than I can remember, and most of the time if you keep in mind that there is a reason and keep trying, the issue is solvable. I had to put a litter pan up on a shelf for my timid kitty, cats recognize victims by body language. (There is a drug that reduces social anxiety. ) And wait, There’s more. After fifty year in practice I still get fooled but just keep trying, (Think outside the box).
@@catdoctrigeek1464 Thank you. She does use the litterbox regularly. However, if I leave a new box, tub or paper bag out, she'll use it as well as the letterbox. I think she gets upset with changes to the room.
@@abigailsmith3328 I would still take her to get checked out because this is unusual behaviour. Anytime there is unusual behaviour with peeing, it is because they are trying to tell you something... ❤🐾💕
I have 2 females ( 6 & 2 year olds) and a 9 months old male. The oldest and the male loves to cuddle, but the 2year old will only come lay near me on her own time for a belly rub (She's the biggest/heaviest of them) the other to hate the belly rubs 😂😂 though they will lay comfortably on my lap or head 🤭. All of them were rescued at 2 months old. I can already see the dominance of the male trying to come out, but he gets a beating from the other two 🫢
my cat loves tummy rubs. he is a male Abyssinian. i love his trust is this normal? friends tell me this is sign of distress but it accompanied by purring, closed eyes and nose kisses so i hope I am doing something right
Yes you give a lot of wisdom for new cat owners. But almost all those TH-cam video's are all the same. I wish there were some TH-cam channels for mor experiënced catowners. Any suggestions?
,y cat hates being held or sitting on laps. He was a stray and he’s very anxious . He also hates closed doors . I don’t mind …he lets me pat him..just not snuggle. He was born on the streets so that explains it. He wasn’t really socialised young.
Let me guess, I ended up with current cat, whose ancestors were barn cats. She kind of likes me when she feels like it. (Most of the time, she doesn't unless I'm putting treats in her treat bowl. Food bowl is separate. Blackmail??)
Jacinda I think my cat cuddles and away she’ll cuddle with me at night when I first wake up and she always wants me to put her down below on her chair. She just never really wants to jump on my lap but if I pick her up and where are you like maybe once a week sure she’ll per my lap and if I put or a bit after I cut her toenails supra bedsheets she does you know what no she’s not as cuddly as most, but I think you’re wrong I think they do cuddle some.
Please don't use hands or feet to play with a cat. This can lead to unwanted biting or attacking. Always use a toy to chase, bite, and catch. (Lasers are not recommended. They frustrate because the cat can't capture them).
Well it is very True the program about Cats need to be aware of some behaviors and this program great help and be able for relief adjustment for some others, as it was true that based on how the cat begun its life depending on how the owners of cats managed the starting life raising a cats also on many isn't really any issue, as saying just go with it. and Enjoy

That’s fine with me!❤❤
My girl is exactly the same ❤
Same with my cat!! She is a spirited orange girl!
My 3 older girls give my husband and I different types of affection. Everyone gets along greatly😊
I’ll take that
You are so sweet. She was lucky to have you.
You sound like a delightful cat parent.
You sound very mature to pet ownership. Understanding cats' species characteristics and their personalities is key to enjoying cats as pets.
@@pamjones3377I’m sorry for your loss Pam.
Happy you have each other ❤😻
I have a male ginger cat that would never cuddle and never sit on my lap. He was aloof. After five years or so, now he’s a Velcro cat. I have no idea what got into him. I’m loving it. He’s extremely affectionate now.
Same. Our orange ginger cat is 4 years old. He loves us and I adore him but he does not cuddle. 😢 So there is still hope since yours cuddled by age 5 years
Yes they can change. Especially as they get older.
Some things are simply personality. Not all cats like to cuddle. This does not need to be fixed. Telling people this is strange
My Siamese cat hates cuddling but will snuggle next to me when she wants to take a nap….
🔥🔥🔥
I agree. Just like with people, you accept their uniqueness and love them the way they want to loved. . . Not the way you want them to love you.
@@jude8223 Perfectly said ❤
My tuxedo cat wandered into our lives as a tiny feral kitten who wanted a better life.
He preferred the company
of our two old dogs.
Thank you for helping some people understand that forcing a cat into submitting isn't helpful.
Let them be they will come around on their own time, but they still show you love and their way
My fur baby was born to a hoarder who had 200+ cats in the house. She was 7 months old when she was saved.
For years she would not even sit in my lap. About 6 weeks ago she climbed up on my lap. And tonight (Nov. 2) she got in my lap and started making biscuits!!! It took 8 years but we are making progress. 😊
I have one of these!
I admire your patience.
Amazing story! You are a super smart human.
How old is your cat…The same with my cat 🐈
Cats are characters, have personalities & Emotions - They`re no cuddly toys that are supposed to give affection on demand! People should respect that!
they set the boundaries ,every cat is different
cars have servants
I had a Russian Blue who would only cuddle with me once in a while but no one else in the family. I'm pretty sure he sought me out when he was dying, that day I was watching tv he jumped on my lap and meowed at me, I started to pet and scratch him behind his ears; he was there about 10mins before he passed. sad day for me
So sad😢
😢
Heartbreaking. 💔
Ty for this 🐈⬛🐈⬛❤️
Love cats they march to the beat of a different drummer. With their cute little selves 😁🤣😍😍😊
@@bmorebamma love that!
Interesting
Now that makes sense. Thank you for posting. You just made me understand why my kitty who came to us, is probably the way she is.
My rescue orange tabby is not a cuddler but he does prefer to be near his people most of the time. He was found on the streets at 7 months old, so his previous experiences probably were not good.
Right there with you! Cats are just the best, aren't they? 🐱❤ Their quirky personalities and cuddly moments always brighten my day!
Just accept your cat the way he is.
What if its a she? Psychological abuse? Totally kidding. I've had many cats. Many different personalities. Love them all
My cat was a stray and she loves me as a food dispenser haha. There is the odd “moment”. I’m ok with her terms.
Which makes YOUa super human!! Only intelligent people understand this.
Ohhh! Is she your ESA therapy dog?
With stressed cats as well with humans patience & love take time & healing. My feral cat has taken 10 years to get where we're are. The first six months after adoption, i knew she was there because of the food, water & sandbox but besides that I did not. She was older when brought to the rescue center and she was brought back several times to the rescue center. Took time. But she is definitely my princess, no doubt. The families who brought her back did not know what a Dimond she became. Everyone loves her. Just needed love, family, & space to deal with her trauma the best way❤
Thank you for adopting her. If she became suddenly tapped in your house, that would be stressful for her. Staying inside must be her idea.
How cute?! That is awesome❤
Love that! Good for you.
Try closing but leave space. If that makes sense. Hug but don't trap
Well said!
We had 2 Tuxies, one was a cuddler the other was not but they both had to be where we were at all times. ❤
Cats are consent only. That's a good reason to love them the way they agree with.
Most all like a hug, cuddling is hit and miss... belly rubs are popular
Cats talk with their eyes, blink slowly and smile.
Wonderfully helpful!
Thank you so much.🐱🐺😊💕💕💕
Thank you for these tips. I’m learning to understand my 8 week old kitten.
8 wk old? Fur, claws and teeth. Wear it out during the day to try and make it sleep and never leave an obstruction to the litter box. Enjoy!
I have cats that love cuddling. Some don't. Some just lie next to me where ever I am
Sounds like you are his pack.
Should never leave a cat for days at a time. That's why. They think you don't really love them
Early interactions = good point.
That’s all I can ask for
Thanks for the info. I will now use these tips.
They will their just acting like they don't like it 😊 ❤
I'v 2 cats Black Shorthair male very affectionate loving cuddle cat
A female mackerel Tabby miss independent if you pick her up or try to cuddle her she'll mews and will scratch if your not careful I thought it might be the bread I adore them both Thanks for video
My cat was with me from 2.2 lbs. We slept in our room for 15 years. Huge lovebug
He was a Russian blue
I have the softest and sweetest smelling cat in the world, but she's not a great cuddler. She does however, love to biscuit. I still love her.
❤ very interesting ❤
My cat wanted bigger thighs on me. He wouldn't sleep in my lap or my husbands's but would in our bigger friends'
Helpful 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤
My cat cuddles with me constantly, but won’t tolerate anyone else despite living with them now for 10 years?
I love my cat! He’s a British Shorthair, I would live it if he would cuddle with me, but I’m okay with him not cuddling too. He’s too cute, as are all cats, wot worry about one trait in them that they don’t have.
My kitten wasn't cuddly, he'd lie next to me on a chair or couch and put his feet on my leg. It wasn't till he was 2 years old and up, he'll drape himself across me, either my upper legs or stomache, or he'll sleep up against my stomache if I lie on my side, or he sleeps against my upper back.
Awesome video
It could be a UTI or it could be that the cat doesn't like the type of litter you have
I’m a (mostly) cat doctor, and you describe a complex problem.
Cats do not like being picked up. They feel vulnerable when their feet /paws are not on the ground.
Great video.
Seems tuxedos have a habit of wandering in. We have had her for 10yrs does not cuddle but lies on my lap and sleeps next to me..
My cat won't cuddle but love to be near me, she loves petting but only to a point
I can already see the dominance of the male trying to come out, but he gets a beating from the other two 🫢
Siamese tend like only one person unless brought up as a kitten
My cat loves to cuddle and let's me kiss her and cuddle her all the time.
Fixed?? But is their nature some are most towards cuddles most don’t ask or don’t feel like it’s needed but are loving in other ways
My ragdoll kitten is not cuddly at all, he also doesn't like to be picked up or doesn't want to lay in my lap ☹️
I suppose some cats, like humans, are just quiet and shouldn't be overly analyzed.
My cat is not a cuddler but neither is she broken and in need of fixing. 👎👎👎👎
Have more than one pet, so they can just be who they are and one or more will cuddle.
Now do one in why some dogs don't cuddle.
my cat loves tummy rubs. he is a male Abyssinian. i love his trust is this normal? friends tell me this is sign of distress but it accompanied by purring, closed eyes and nose kisses so i hope I am doing something right
Yes you give a lot of wisdom for new cat owners.
My cat like to lay on my feet and she loves pets but if I try to hold her she runs put of the room with her ears back
Jacinda I think my cat cuddles and away she’ll cuddle with me at night when I first wake up and she always wants me to put her down below on her chair.
My cat loves my hands and feet!😊
My cat only cuddle on our way to the snacks..once we reached the destination she wants to get put down to eat
My cat won’t cuddle but when I’m walking around he runs up behind me and jumps up onto my shoulders and stays there while I walk around doing chores.
Nope. The main problem I have with all my cats [20], is that many of them at any one time want to either simply be with me ~ or actually ON me! 😅😅😅
My cat loves it when I rub her stomach and pet her as she lays on my lap.
Well it is very True the program about Cats need to be aware of some behaviors and this program great help and be able for relief adjustment for some others, as it was true that based on how the cat begun its life depending on how the owners of cats managed the starting life raising a cats also on many isn't really any issue, as saying just go with it. and Enjoy
