felt really blah and uninspired today, so i came to watch this. thanks for always having something i can watch to feel like even if i just move paint around, i make something that didn't exist before. like i already know it, but watching and vibing with you while i try to push myself to even get the paint bottles open really helps. i tape my edges so i don't have the curling issue but what is this wizardry with the gloss medium on the back????? i've never seen anyone do that to flatten out pages! i'd feel like i had to stop bc i'd be scared of gluing my book shut.
Hahaha! I’m pretty sure I learned that flattening trick from Jane Davies (@jdaviesVT) a few years ago. It does feel a bit like magic, doesn’t it? 😆 The gloss medium I use is super thin, so it dries quickly, which also helps me to not glue things together. 🤗 So glad you felt a bit more inspired while you watched ❤️
@@jackieschomburgart oh yeah i know jane! i follow her on yt and have been in a her improv drawing cluster! i have a thin matte medium. i should try it sometime!
I use house cleaning wipes, like all-purpose wipes, a lot, but I have never tried with baby wipes. I will try them! The seem to have a softer effect on the paint. I love the way you used the wipes in this piece, Jackie! ❤
Handy those wipes are! I keep mine after they dry and moisten them with a spritz of water to 'live again'. Also curious about the tape applied to extend lines. What does it do, it's it a special type that won't stick? Those color shapers/scrapers/spreaders are indispensable!! Great video, Jackie! Thanks!
I’m learning so much from you 🎉! Tomorrow I’m going to watch this one again ready to work along side you. What is your preferred china marker, peel or sharpening? I love the mark making you do with your eyes closed! Thanks 🙏
Not sure where this is going to end up, but I'm 20 minutes in and am just loving how the painting on the left looks like a snowy winter scene, with a river that is not frozen over running through it, and the land to the right of the river has 4 bare trees standing out of it (the white china marker), and the quinacridone gold is like shadows or sunlight, and the water has lovely reflections in it. (And for sure - the job of an artist is to experiment, so of course we overdo it! LOL. ) I love where this is going and love the variety of things we use for art tools! 🙂
@@jackieschomburgart I was sad when you covered it over, but as an artist I know that we like what we like and don't like what we don't like and we have to keep moving towards what we DO like! In the end I like the right side better too. LOL.
Thanks! Sometimes I put tape where I want the crayon lines to begin. It gives me a clean starting point across all the lines vs. having slight variations if I started them without the tape. It’s all personal preference and not at all necessary 🤗
Really enjoyed this video and the effects you achieved, I use a lot of baby wipes too they are a god send, love the colour choice as well 😊 lovely not hearing the hair dryer my ear drums can rest 😂xx
Baby wipes are great and used in card making especially when using distress inks and blenders/brushes also essential for Gel printing and generally to clean anything but I have never seen anyone apply paint/glaze with them so Thankyou for a great idea ..I also use them to take my make off 😁Your collage is wonderful ..subscribed
This is totally fascinating. Thank you for sharing your blue experiment with baby wipes. Babies grown up for a long time, but putting a pack on my list to give this a try. Happy day to you🤩
TH-cam suggested this video in my feed and I am sooooo glad! I did follow along and the excess paint I had on the baby wipes - I swiped off on coffee filters - so both baby wipes and coffee filters will be used in collage ... thank you for the share Jackie! I will be checking out more of your art/videos.
Hej Claudia! Once upon a time I could speak Swedish (I studied it in college), but alas, I don’t get much practice here 🤗 Thanks so much for watching! I get my color shapers from Amazon - here’s a link to the ones I use: amzn.to/48mO5mf ❤️
I haven't tried this but I think you could also play with baby wipes particularly the ones that you've already used so they've got pigment on them, and with a soldering iron poke holes in them at random and then layer them so the colors show through at different points you can then take a piece of either parchment paper or wax paper and very lightly iron them or in my case I haven't tried an iron yet but I like to use a hot air gun that's not the right word but you know what I mean and that will melt the layers onto each other. For the reason that it's plastic I strongly recommend that you have a window open or if you can even work outside that would be better but you will get an interesting product with the fused melty things. They shrink, then change shape, as well as of course the holes from the soldering iron at a lot of interest. I haven't done it yet but I bet you could have some fun with some glittery or iridescent paint on the layer that's underneath one of the holes just to add interest. I've also further embellished my layers with things like stick on butterflies or anything that I can add with hot glue that makes it look more intriguing. The sky's the limit. And I guess I'm saying we don't have to put this stuff into the land waste we can keep it as art and mount it on a board or on a canvas and paint around it, over it, whatever you want to do art is where you find it! Just saying
@@jackieschomburgart Hi Jackie. So sorry, I'm a techno dinosaur and don't know how to do that. I live in the UK, and although they're more expensive, they can be found. I will try and get a friend to help me. 😂😂
It’s not crazy, mixed media artists have been using them for years, especially with stencils. It’s a shame they’re a terrible plastic waste into the environment. I tried techniques with them myself but I couldn’t justify buying them for art. I use paper towels or biodegradable wipes and try to encourage others to buy them if they really want to achieve similar results.
Hello great art I like it a lot 👌 may I asking what kind of Paper do you use at minute 22:05 ? Look transparent like baking paper 😀 thanks for your answer Best regards Ole
I love these pages and have wanted to do more of this kind of work. I have no formal artist training. I just play and dabble. My question is when you are making a piece like this how many “rules” are you following. You said the one page has promise but weren’t sure about the other one? To me they are both pleasing to look at. I have no idea what kinds of things you are following to make your choices. Can you tell me more about the criteria? Thank you 😊
It’s really a mixture of personal preference and some artistic “guidelines”. More to say than can fit into a comment here but one “feels” done and I wasn’t sure if the other one felt done or if I felt like I wanted to do more to it ❤️
W😲W Jackie!! Such cool abstracts when you were showing us other techniques! I like your voice and personality too!! Glad I found you! New Subscriber! QUESTION: What kind of glue were you using to apply the collage pieces? ThanksJso much!! 👍👍👍 ☺️
Hi Tina! Each of these paintings is approximately 8.5”x12”. I typically frame my paintings to 16”x20” in a thin, black frame with white mat board. Each framed painting is $175 (+shipping). Thanks for your patience regarding my response. My son was hospitalized in the ICU just after you left your comment and I lost track of everything but him for a while (he’s doing MUCH better now) ❤️❤️❤️
❤️ Not sure if tagging you in a previous video worked, but I figured out how to turn off ads in the middle of my videos so no more ads in the lives or pre-recorded videos! Thanks again for letting me know how many ads there were in that one video - that was insane and I didn’t know that I had the ability to turn them off till a friend told me how ❤️
Yep! Canvas usually has more texture than paper, so that may leave a slightly different effect if you try to remove the paint completely, but yes, you can glaze on canvas using this same process ☺️
Beautiful finished paintings! Question: the “gloss medium” that you squirt from the plain squeeze bottle-is that the same as liquid medium? The only gloss medium I’ve seen is in gel form and would not be liquid enough to pour out like that.
You can use gel medium too, if you like - I use that sometimes too. If you’re trying to get it into a squeeze bottle, gel wouldn’t be ideal, you’re right. Perhaps call your local art store and ask how to thin the gel medium to be more fluid? I don’t know if it would be as easy as adding water or if you’d need to add a liquid medium. I get my gloss medium online from nova color paints. It’s just called gloss medium. ❤️
❤adding water will dilute the integrity of the paint, it might not be as stable. I would use medium to make the paint more transparent rather than water🎉
I have to ask. Though I paint and in all sizes I never quite gotten into the habit of using a sketchbook. When I look at your 2 pages, particularly the right side, to me that’s a finished work. So how do take this and all the work you put into this and make it into a definitive work, bigger or same size. How do you remember what you did to redo it on better paper or canvas? Sorry for the many questions.
Great questions. Personally, I don’t redo any of my work. I’ve tried in the past and it never looks half as good as the original bc my freedom is gone and has been switched with copying mode. Copying mode feels like a boring and impossible task and I don’t enjoy it at all 😆 The sketchbook exercises can be pulled out and framed or cut down to make cards or whatever else I decide to do. My work is very improvisational and I just work in whatever scale I’m using on a given day and see what I can make of it ❤️
I owe you big! Really! I enjoyed this video, but the big part is how to deal with paper curling. I went through art school in the 1970s and after so long, still didn't have a really good way to deal with it. So, you would think it might be taught in school? So many things were not. A huge one is that rubbing alcohol dissolves acrylic paint. It can be a wonderful way to dissolve paint on the page, or canvas, etc. I also learned this on TH-cam. But it also helped save many dried paint brushes. I'd been using ammonia, which does work but it's super stinky and doesn't work as well as rubbing alcohol. I've brought a lot of brushes back from the dead with alcohol. And it can do cool things to the paint, surface. I spray it on and then use a paint scrubber and paper towel to wipe it off. It can take off a lot so you have to be careful.
Happy to help - it’s a game changer, isn’t it?? I think I learned it from Jane Davies 🤗 I never thought to use rubbing alcohol to save otherwise dead brushes! Thank YOU for that gem! ❤️❤️❤️
Happy to help - can you please give me the time on the video where the stenciled image is and I’ll be happy to tell you if the stencil is self made or purchased. Thanks! ❤️
This is the first of your videos i've come across. I like this technique you are showing us with the baby wipes. I've not yet ventured into acrylics but am starting to build from a watercolour medium a mixed media pallet with some old oil pastels, pastels, pencils, charcoal, fineliners, inks and paint pens. I have a little amount of cheap acrylic that im yet to break open. To give you an idea of how new this is to me. My question is, can you use and do you use this technique on canvas as well as the mixed media paper?
If you gesso the paper and the canvas, it should work the same on both substrates. Regardless of gesso you can use baby wipes on both, but the effects will be a bit different 🤗
Really cool project! Do you have it planned out in your head or do you just make it up as you go? Thank you for sharing your discovery of the wipes. I used your link to see what kind of baby wipes you used and they are currently unavailable.
Thank you! I don’t have anything planned when I begin - I just make it up as I go along 😆 If you are in the US, I also get Kirkland baby wipes from Costco 🤗 Any wipes should work 👍
Hi Annie! A china marker is a type of grease pencil, but they are called china markers if you search on Amazon or google 👍 Squeegees will also give a similar effect to color shapers ❤️
Nice work, happy I found you, Gorgeous but sadly extremely polluting. I dislike how this so often is an issue, even just using Acrylics is filling our world with more plastic. Is very confusing to me because I do want to try all of this…. Have a nice weekend everyone…. :).
@@jackieschomburgart you are absolutely right but those baby wipes make it seem so easy, okay so I’m being lazy I guess…. :). I guess if we did things the hard and slow ways, we would pollute less. Truly, this is a battle in my head. Very much appreciate your reply by the way. Have a lovely weekend.
Use baby wipes to paint on fabric? Or use fabric instead of baby wipes? I suppose both are possible but I doubt you’d be able to wipe the paint off well with baby wipes on fabric 🤗
Thank you! That was an amazing art video. It’s very inspirational and I will be trying your techniques. Reading through all the comments about how bad plastics are, I can only assume people are making these comments from computers and smart phones that are made from plant-based materials, such as recycled mashed potatoes, and that their technological devices do not contain lithium batteries or plastics. While I do agree that plastics are a bad thing, I find that people who criticise one particular use of it are happy to use technology that relies on the petro-chemical plastics industry to exist, not to mention the mining of lithium and cobalt by some of the worlds poorest people who are slaves to those who own the mines. The devices we are using to communicate our comments to each other cannot exist without plastics and batteries. And these devices are extremely bad for the planet once they are made obsolete by the next version and need to be disposed of. But it’s so much easier to point fingers at the naughty people using acrylic paint and baby wipes than to admit we are ALL part of the problem. Practically EVERYTHING we use in daily life contains some form of plastics. There are ecology damaging things that I don’t like - for example, It makes me cross that people are taking all manner of toxic medicines (like birth control pills for example) which they then excrete down the toilet into the Eco system. The synthetic hormones in these medications are playing havoc with human and animal life. But I can’t, in all good conscience, start lecturing people on what drugs they are peeing into the water system while I am using things myself that aren’t good for the planet. And I can only assume that people criticising the use of paint and baby wipes would never take a plane trip or eat food that was transported in a vehicle pumping out toxins into the environment. Because one plane trip alone pumps out tons and tons of CO2 and Nitrogen Oxide. The pollution from air traffic kills thousands of people every year but hey, let’s pick on baby wipes even though we might be flyers ourselves. Every single person in the civilised world is using something or participating in activities that are bad for the planet, because big business has created that world to make billions and trillions out of us using them. Virtue signalling and pointing out what others are doing wrong is so much easier than doing an audit in our own homes and lives and seeing just how much hidden plastic is inherent in our daily lives. How about we all start asking stores how the products we buy got there and start boycotting anything that wasn’t manufactured within walking distance and does not use ANY plastic? Good luck with that! I’m not going to criticise you or anyone else for using baby wipes while I drive a car, eat food that was transported by vehicles powered by gas, and use a phone, computer and iPad which one day, will all end up being ‘rubbish’ to be disposed of. And if anyone wants to argue with my comment, you’d better not be doing it on a phone/tablet/computer made with any plastic or lithium or cobalt because if so, I will call you a virtue signalling hypocrite. Anyone who replies in handwriting, in charcoal, on a banana skin, flown to me by a pigeon will escape such judgement. Whoops, no, better not use charcoal because that involves burning. Use blueberry juice. 😂 Thank you Jackie for your lovely video and beautiful art. 🙏
I had to be in the hospital for a month and the amount of plastic that was used in my care on a daily basis was mind blowing. Multiply that by every hospital every day… Plastics have a necessity place. So creating bio friendly materials that do the same things would be a very worthwhile endeavor indeed.
@@rebeccamoore4177 sorry you had to be in hospital for a month - hope you are well now. Yes, hospitals definitely do need alternatives to cut down on plastic waste.
I’ve been a subscriber for a while now, and I love your work, including this one. However, I don’t want to be a party pooper, but wet wipes are contributing hugely to the pollution of the planet including ocean life. Using acrylic paint is already damaging, but wet wipes just double down on the harm. I use damp cloths from old bedding, clothing etc, to get the same effect. “Wet wipes are an environmental hazard that can have far-reaching consequences. Not only do they contain plastic and other non-biodegradable materials, but when these plastics break down into microplastics, they can enter the food chain and disrupt entire ecosystems” ~ TruEarth.
@@jackieschomburgart Yes, very much so. I’m not an eco warrior or anything, I just had visions of however many followers you have suddenly flooding the global ecosystem with thousands of wet wipes, and they are so harmful to our ocean life. It’s easy enough to find a less damaging alternative. I try, when I can, not to wash acrylic paint in the sink, because it’s plastic too. It’s difficult, but if we all try a bit . . . X x
For sure this is not a solution to the microplastics problem but, when I think of the (probably) billions of gallons of house paint that are sold every year (which are also acrylic) not sure that a bit of residue remaining after a painting is finished is going to do much to further harm the environment. What artists might do would be to work on multiple paintings at one time. That way the main bulk of excess paint would be used up and would not end up in the environment for now. Of course LONG TERM and given enough time absolutely everything will eventually end up in the environment including the Mona Lisa and every other painting ever painted. In the history of the Earth even the great pyramid will be gone. Stay safe, healthy & happy.
Yes, the paint will wipe away much easier with gesso as a base. I also enjoy the way the glaze shows up so differently on the painted surfaces vs. bare paper though - 2 effects with one swipe! 🤗❤️
@jackieschomburgart Because it is that way . By the way I thoroughly enjoyed this vid. I always pick up so many tips and tricks. I also like it's just the right speed with your calming way of thinking out loud. Thanks for fitting in these great vids in your busy schedule. 👍
baby wipes are plastic (as is acrylic paint). Unfortunately adding to the massive plastic waste problem... Just make sure they go into the landfill (NOT septic system); likewise with leftover acrylic paint - goes in the trash NOT into the environment i.e. down the drain.
I use biodegradable wet toilet paper for everything others use baby wipes for. It has the same properties concerning usage, but the sheets are thinner and smaller. With the acrylic paint on it you of course can't throw it in the toilet, but it does not add to the Grey waste by itself. The biodegradable toilet paper is made of plant based bioplastic that breaks down within a few weeks or months by itself, depending on the placement. I'm sure you can buy these in the US as well.
Thanks... I just finished reading A Poison Like No Other about microplastics, and have decided to give up acrylics in my art practice... I just can't bear the thought anymore. Unfortunately bioplastic, even if it breaks down faster, still has all the nasty chemicals in it that make plastic so toxic, just like regular plastic does. So... no more acrylics and no more baby wipes for me. It was a shocking read. (Off topic I know... but perhaps pertinent given how much plastic is in many art supplies!).
There's an artist named Jenny Grant who also believes in saving the environment. She never uses baby wipes and uses up her paint. She uses rags to wipe her brushes and her water goes into a bucket of sand. I'm doing what I can to save the environment too, as our oceans are choked with plastic. Thank you for your comment!
@@missdeesaccount Thank you too! Unfortunately, if you put your water (with plastic in it) into a bucket of sand, then you're left with what to do with the bucket of sand. Not just the oceans are filled with plastic; did you know that millions of tons of plastic are in the air? We breathe it, eat it, drink it daily. Babies are now born pre-polluted with plastic (via the placenta). We walk around in clouds of it as it comes off our clothes. And of course all plastic has toxic chemicals in it, that leach out over time. Personally I think plastic should be banned entirely. Almost everything we use every day has plastic in it or is made of plastic, so it's quite the pickle we've created for ourselves. I do hope that we artists (and aspiring artists) can find (once again) non-plastic ways to make art! I've decided to stick to pencils, charcoal, paper, etc. for now as I explore this more. The book had a profound effect on me (as I'm sure you can tell).
Sure - you can soak them in water and continue to reuse the same wipe or use a wet rag (someone mentioned cutting up old t-shirts to make soft rags) or use any other fabric you’d like ☺️❤️
I think we can use babywipes in some exceptions but to see how many you use makes me feel 😮OMG 🤯😳 I feel very sad as I think you have no bad conscious about using them sooo much too much. Please think about our earth and environment… Please 🥺🙏🏻 babywipes needs dont know how many 100 or 1000 years to recycle if …. I like the look of the paintings but use the babywipes so massive I could never ever do it this way… I paint and I have already some doubts about the environment with all the stuff and colors… but there is a limit…
Your feelings are valid. And, please remember that this video is specifically about using other tools - in this case baby wipes - to make art. It is the first and only time I ever ever used that many wipes EVER 🙃 It was an exercise in trying something new. Typically I add one or two elements from this video into a painting and that’s it. ❤️

@@nettienoodle20 we all know... Bamboo wipes are recyclable, so you can wash them and reuse them so many times, like textile scraps
Thanks!
Thank you…good to know you can use them again.. I was thinking of the garbage/ land fill…
I love your channel, Jackie!!
Thank you so much for watching!! ❤️❤️❤️
Love you tips and tricks, thank you for sharing beautiful soul 😂
You are so welcome! ☺️ Thank you for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m learning so much from you 🎉! Tomorrow I’m going to watch this one again ready to work along side you. What is your preferred china marker, peel or sharpening? I love the mark making you do with your eyes closed! Thanks 🙏
You’ve got this! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing your story of what you saw in the paintings - I love your imagery! 🥰
@@jackieschomburgart I was sad when you covered it over, but as an artist I know that we like what we like and don't like what we don't like and we have to keep moving towards what we DO like! In the end I like the right side better too. LOL.
@janinafisher101 ☺️☺️☺️
This has given me lots of ideas - thanks! Could you tell me the name of the black and white pencils that you use on top of the acrylics please?
Such a pretty background!! Love the blues so much!! WHAT!! We absolutely come to your channel for the grammar!! LOL. :)

Would u please share the beautiful jaw dropping blues u used? Please ❤❤❤❤
I think I mention them in the video…? I believe I used Phthalo turquoise and Phthalo blue 🤗
Great video, can I ask why you put tape on the piece when you elongate some of the lines/marks with your Neo color II. Thanks
😆😆😆 As long as I’m not filming a *live* video, I mute the hair dryer. It’s just the lives that I can’t mute while I work ❤️
Baby wipes are great and used in card making especially when using distress inks and blenders/brushes also essential for Gel printing and generally to clean anything but I have never seen anyone apply paint/glaze with them so Thankyou for a great idea ..I also use them to take my make off 😁Your collage is wonderful ..subscribed
Thanks so much for watching and for the tip! ❤️❤️❤️
This is totally fascinating. Thank you for sharing your blue experiment with baby wipes. Babies grown up for a long time, but putting a pack on my list to give this a try. Happy day to you🤩
Yay! Let me know how it goes! ❤️❤️❤️
I enjoy watching you so much! Thank you for some new techniques to try ;)
Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
You could spread out the wipes to dry and use them in collage.
Such a good idea - thanks Sherry! ❤️
Its wonderful to follow you and your calm process❤️ I wonder where you have bought the colorshaper? Hi from Claudia in Sweden.
Hej Claudia! Once upon a time I could speak Swedish (I studied it in college), but alas, I don’t get much practice here 🤗 Thanks so much for watching! I get my color shapers from Amazon - here’s a link to the ones I use: amzn.to/48mO5mf ❤️
YOU GAVE ME GREAT IDEA'S
Great!
Just saying
Very inspiring!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! ❤️
Wipe + scraper + light & dark = adept for you and trepidation for me.

Great video. Thank you. It is possible to get plastic free, biodegradable wipes. That's what I use.
Thank you! Any chance you could share a link to them with me? ❤️
@@jackieschomburgart Hi Jackie. So sorry, I'm a techno dinosaur and don't know how to do that. I live in the UK, and although they're more expensive, they can be found. I will try and get a friend to help me. 😂😂
Hi Jackie. Biodegradable, plastic free baby wipes are available on Amazon from a company called Mum and Me
Thanks Cathy! ❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Hello great art I like it a lot 👌 may I asking what kind of Paper do you use at minute 22:05 ? Look transparent like baking paper 😀 thanks for your answer
Best regards Ole
Hi! It's just tissue paper that I added a gel plate print to (thanks for leaving the time stamp to make it easy for me 😊)
Using acrylic glazing liquid will keep paint wet just a little longer before wiping it away. Gives you a few minutes to decide what to wipe away.
Great tip! I have some and always forget about it. 😆❤️
👍👍👍 ☺️
Thank you so much - glad to have you watching! ❤️
Oooh! And I use gloss medium to glue my collage pieces down and seal them!
Love the work....how much would you charge for each painting?❤
Hi Tina! Each of these paintings is approximately 8.5”x12”. I typically frame my paintings to 16”x20” in a thin, black frame with white mat board. Each framed painting is $175 (+shipping). Thanks for your patience regarding my response. My son was hospitalized in the ICU just after you left your comment and I lost track of everything but him for a while (he’s doing MUCH better now) ❤️❤️❤️
Maybe try shop towels?
Yep - shop towels work too!
thank you!!
❤️ Not sure if tagging you in a previous video worked, but I figured out how to turn off ads in the middle of my videos so no more ads in the lives or pre-recorded videos! Thanks again for letting me know how many ads there were in that one video - that was insane and I didn’t know that I had the ability to turn them off till a friend told me how ❤️
I loved it! Especially tour china market 😅 it’s permanent market right?
Thanks! The china market is a “grease pencil” so it marks things but isn’t wet like an actual marker 🤗
Does this technique work as well on canvas as it does on paper? Happy to have found your channel! ❤
Yep! Canvas usually has more texture than paper, so that may leave a slightly different effect if you try to remove the paint completely, but yes, you can glaze on canvas using this same process ☺️
@@jackieschomburgart Thank you for replying so fast! ❤️
Can rinse out and re-use, I think.😊
Great suggestion!
Beautiful work..
Can you say if that stencil was self made? Or by whom??
Also, did you do a video on tissue printing??
❤
Thank you! I don’t have anything planned when I begin - I just make it up as I go along 😆 If you are in the US, I also get Kirkland baby wipes from Costco 🤗 Any wipes should work 👍
What’s a China marker? What could I use if I don’t have a shape maker or a catalyst?
Hi Annie! A china marker is a type of grease pencil, but they are called china markers if you search on Amazon or google 👍 Squeegees will also give a similar effect to color shapers ❤️
What kind of tissue paper do you buy?
Art tissue from Blick :)
Nice work, happy I found you,
Gorgeous but sadly extremely polluting. I dislike how this so often is an issue, even just using Acrylics is filling our world with more plastic. Is very confusing to me because I do want to try all of this….
Have a nice weekend everyone…. :).
Thanks ❤️ This can also be done with paper towels or old rags as well, so there are still ways to do it if you’d like to try ❤️
Are they recyclable wipes?
You can definitely use recyclable wipes!
Can you do this on fabric?
Thank you Jackie for your lovely video and beautiful art.
OMG! You are using blue!😂
Haha! 😆💙❤️
I didn’t know they were part of the plastic/microplastic problem - thank you for letting me know. ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah, I want to warm things up…
This technique will work even better if you gesso the paper beforehand.
Yes, the paint will wipe away much easier with gesso as a base. I also enjoy the way the glaze shows up so differently on the painted surfaces vs. bare paper though - 2 effects with one swipe! 🤗❤️
Too funny...eyes closed! I do the same thing and it's always a rush to see what I have done. I could never do do those patterns eyes wide open. 🙄
Haha! It is a fun reveal once you open your eyes, isn’t it? ❤️
Oh gawwd. We're all gonna die from all the other pollutants in our EVERYTHING. ☠️
It does feel that way, doesn’t it? 😬
@jackieschomburgart Because it is that way . By the way I thoroughly enjoyed this vid. I always pick up so many tips and tricks. I also like it's just the right speed with your calming way of thinking out loud. Thanks for fitting in these great vids in your busy schedule. 👍
What would happen if you used retarder to slow the drying?
Depends on what part of the process you use it for. Could make all of a glaze wipe away completely instead of leaving a subtle glaze behind. 🤗
not enviro friendly. use sparingly perhaps?? 😊
Agreed 👍
I like some of the uses, but it seems very wasteful. Alot of wipes now going in the garbage :(
That’s fair - It’s not an everyday thing. Paper towels, rags, and other cloth-like items can also be used and re-used multiple times.
baby wipes are plastic (as is acrylic paint). Unfortunately adding to the massive plastic waste problem... Just make sure they go into the landfill (NOT septic system); likewise with leftover acrylic paint - goes in the trash NOT into the environment i.e. down the drain.
Good tips - thank you for mentioning ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful project but is too much waste of baby wipes.
Is it possible to reuse them again?
Sure - you can soak them in water and continue to reuse the same wipe or use a wet rag (someone mentioned cutting up old t-shirts to make soft rags) or use any other fabric you’d like ☺️❤️
@@jackieschomburgart that sounds great!
Thanks.
@kellercrucita550 ❤️
No thanks. Will look for a less wasteful, ecological way to do this. Good ideas though
You can definitely swap out the baby wipes for washable, reusable cloths and try it that way! ❤️
Don’t put wipes in toilet.
Oh I DEFINITELY agree!
Those wipes aren't biodegradable! Are you just dumping them in the trash? Try something else that is reusable?
Great suggestion - thanks ❤️
Other options you can use instead are rags made out of old fabric, old towels, and even old clothing - especially tshirts ☺️
I think we can use babywipes in some exceptions but to see how many you use makes me feel 😮OMG 🤯😳 I feel very sad as I think you have no bad conscious about using them sooo much too much. Please think about our earth and environment… Please 🥺🙏🏻
babywipes needs dont know how many 100 or 1000 years to recycle if ….
@@jackieschomburgart 🙏🏻💖👍🏼☺️ Thank you for your answer and it’s great to hear. As I said it is really difficult to find hobbies without bad consciousness 😅 before I knitted alot… also with some doubts… 🙃🤪 my gardening and playing piano is at least ecofriendly 😅
Great ideas - thank you! ❤️
