My Goodness, Jackie!!!! These panels are gorgeous 😍! Normally, I focus entirely on the creative process and strategies you share-- much more than the finished pieces...BUT, this time I was fully drawn in by the beauty of the finished panels so much. You never disappoint with your vibrant color choices and thoughtful application of collage. Thanks for continuing to Inspire me!!!❤️

I’m rewatching this video in Dec ‘24, hence my thought that one could make Christmas ornaments from these little abstracts. Just drill a hole, paint the backs and hang.

I just found your videos and inspired me so much to. Day. I do work on several panels at a time. Because I don't like wasting paint. But they all turn out differently. I've never done the small ones. great video I'll be watching all the time now
Working on multiples feels overwhelming and I’m less likely to finish, or to recognize I’m finished(which is sometimes exciting when I look at it months later.) Often, usually, I have more than one in progress, but I don’t work on them side by side. I have some that I don’t like, that don’t feel right, and I pull them off the wall and do stuff to them periodically. Some of them have been at this stage for years. I’m learning that if I hate it, it’s just an opportunity to play, what could go wrong? I already hate it.
EXACTLY! There’s so much freedom in the paintings that never quite did anything for us, isn’t there? I’ve made some of my favorite paintings by painting over unsuccessful ones. Nothing to lose 🙌🏻❤️🤗
Love these! I have that exact set of panels on my studio desk right now. I've been trying to determine my approach. This gave me some great ideas and terrific motivation to get started! Thanks Jackie.
Lovely work. Do you often think about the way the panels subconsciously play off each other, and move them around? Do you eliminate some and work on them individually, then reintroduce them to the others and start a new process?
Thank You for sharing your amazing art and process and love how relaxed you are and sense of humour.❤ Would love to see your process on a large canvas. Have a wonderful day.🥰

I love your work/play and wish I could get out of the produce something I love and just play. I have a an all or nothing attitude. Thoughts to break that?
I do have some thoughts on how to soften an all-or-nothing attitude. But first a question for you: In general (not just related to art), do you find it easy to play and be loose/free or is that not something that comes naturally to you? I have been working on ideas for ways to add creative play into busy lives in small, easy ways (I’m putting it together as a freebie, so keep an eye out for it or send me an email - Jackie at jackieschomburg dot com - and I’ll send you a link to it when it’s ready). The more play you can incorporate into your life, the more play will flow into your art. If, on the other hand, you are a very playful person and you just want every art session to result in a masterpiece - I’d suggest making a plan to create ugly art. See how ugly you can make it. Change your perspective from the beginning to train you brain to not worry about the outcome. It’s a mindset shift and it takes some practice, but see how it feels ❤️
I got your message this weekend (I somehow missed the first one but I found it after receiving your second one - thank you for resending) - I haven’t forgotten about you! It’s been total chaos over here this weekend. Will respond soon! ❤️

That’s what I thought too but have remained negative for covid. All three kids had walking pneumonia last week and I was treated for that, which helped my lungs a TON. Rounding the bend (I hope) but woke up with a lovely case of pink eye 🙄🙄🙄 My kids are germ collectors and bring them all home to me 😆😷😩
@@jackieschomburgart oh no!! so sorry to hear :( the at-home tests are no longer accurate for covid, but if you got tested by the doctor then hopefully that is accurate. hope the kiddos are okay. i remember reading there was a period where kids were getting the covid-pink eye combo since covid messes up the immune system and makes it so the body isnt as effective at fighting off other disease. i hope you all are resting up as much as possible!

girl if you've been sick for that long you probably have covid lol
