Andor singlehandedly turned Mon Mothma into one of tge most complex and intriguing sw characters. I love her so much
Agree. This show made her one of my most favorite characters, aside from Obi, Anakin, and especially Ahsoka (the big obvious three lol 😂)
I love how Disney made this series to plug up a plot hole in "A New Hope" and instead made random side characters have a way more interesting backstory than some of the main characters.
Love how padme, organa, and mon Mothma kept fighting for what is right till the end

Man in Andor they really went dived down into the Rebellion and how the Empire works in.
Mon Mothma is amazing. Gilroy and Genevieve O'Reilly really brought her to life.

Mon Mothma, someone I’d be proud to follow. As much as the Rebellion needed Luthen Rael’s schemes and Saw Gerrera relentlessness, they also needed a strong heart and a clear purpose.
Then you are a fool. Mom milfma represented everything wrong with the republic. The bureaucracy the corruption the hiding away of things tat were unpleasant while hiding away in the ivory towers of a planet that produced nothing and consumed all the resources of other worlds.

If there is one scene i’d love to see in Season 2, it’s the climax of her arc : her speech in the Senate - against the Emperor in person. It might be too much to ask, but dang it would be epic! Then she leaves like a badass, and her theme plays out (like at 2:00)
Mon Mothma is such a cool character. She was a good friend of Bail and Padme, a founder and leader of the Rebellion. It's also tragic that she's the only one who survived, her friends who helped her lead and fight were gone during the time of the Original Trilogy, when the Rebellion and Empire were fighting the most(in terms of battles). The utter relief and sorrow she must have felt when all that fighting ended. The Rebellion won, but out of the original 3 who started it, she's the only one who got to see the downfall of the Empire.
Great editing. Thanks to Andor (and Genevieve), Mon Mothma is now one of my favourite characters in all of Star Wars. I'm so pleased that her version of Mon Mothma is crossing into the other Star Wars projects as well; it makes them seem more "classy" :)

Exactly! We want well written characters period. The strength and tension of Mon Mothma's scenes on Andor are some of Star Wars' absolute best! Genevieve has such a passion, grace, and class when even speaking about the character and she deserves to have more roles in Hollywood.
Everything that they did on the Acolyte was such an embarrassment in comparison. Even their press junket was some of the worst I've ever seen.
Randomly thought of how much more interesting Mon’s character was made through Andor, so searched up her name and I’m not disappointed. Great edit!

Andor has made Mon Mothma so real. How she has had a target on her back for so long. How she can't trust even her husband. Even her driver is a plant.

Damn, this part goes both ways after Andor. It felt different now.
At first, it was meant specifically to Padmé to never tell this rebellion idea to anyone she knows, including Anakin.
And in Andor, Mon Mothma can't even tell it to her family and even her trusted friend (Tay Kolma). She has to keep it vague.
Talk about consistency with the original lore, even when the scene was deleted in the final cut.
this is like my 100th time watching this, and i get goosebumps every time. Like especially where she cries at the end, it shows how no one will truly understand all the work and sacrifice she had made for freedom.
Very nice. It’s always good to see edits for characters who don’t often get them. I particularly like towel you kind of manufactured her looking out over the celebration at the end of return of the Jedi. In a way, there’s almost works like a trailer or foreshadowing what we can expect from season two. We can generally imagine that something bad happens to mothma’s family but we don’t know what.

@@0RY0NIt’s an incredible edit. But in my headcanon I’m gonna say she was on Coruscant watching an anniversary celebration and thinking about all that she had been through. I think Coruscant was still pretty locked down immediately after Endor (which is why George showing celebrations on the planet at the end of ROTJ kind of made me laugh a little bit, didn’t make sense)

I love how they’ve taken a deep dive into the other side of the rebellion the fights were dangerous and nice to watch but the true dangerous fight was mon mothma and others who stayed in the senate undercover. Andor last episode she sent her daughter away for safety agreeing to marriage proposal

C’est bien vrai ! Pour être honnête, j’ai toujours trouvé qu’il y avait un potentiel inexploité derrière ce personnage, et la revoir dans Andor était l’une de mes plus grosses hypes. Vraiment hâte de la suivre dans la Saison 2, comme principale protagoniste, aux côtés de Cassian :)

Tony Gilroy really made me care about so many characters and events I really did not like at all. Andor is the best Star Wars live action show. Everyone is so good and compelling. I never thought I would love Mon Mothma

Folks need to read her post-ROTJ arc in legends. She was incredible. I feel like the Aftermath/Bloodline books (and so far, the 1 ep of Ahsoka) are doing her dirty.

@@kubli365 No, she's literally made the New Republic weak by demilitarizing it and not dealing with the pro-Imperial elements in canon. She's functionally the reason the New Republic dies.

I'm glad she's getting more recognition. For all the heroes in the front lines, the spys & the labor force - all of that is nothing without a good leader. She was the rebellion made manifest.

Let's not make this about a lesser character haha. Mon Mothma successfully went from a long-time and frequently appearing though never all that interesting characters to probably the best character in arguably the best Star Wars show
I remember reading that George Lucas originally planned more political intrigue for the prequels, as I get older I think this was less of a bad idea if executed like this. Right as I was losing interest in Space Super Heroes, they bring stuff like this.

Been feeling pretty anti- Disney star wars lately. Quite a few disappointments.
But coming back to it, you know what they got right? They got Mon f**king Mothma right. They did her solid. They got the actress whose scene was deleted in revenge of the Sith, and brought her back not only as a voice actress but as a fleshed out character in one film and two separate shows. Good on them.

Trusting Tay is a bad idea.
I mean, it's politics. You take every best chances you've got when in times of urgent like this. She has to secure her money safely before her account got caught by the empire.
She has no choice but to sacrifice her daughter to do an arranged marriage with a son of a thug she doesn't trust. The same thing that she did when she was young (15 y.o.) and now being trapped with her husband that she doesn't love. Even Vel warned her that this could be a bad idea.
So is embezzling money during increasing anti-corruption sweeps to fund the purchase of highly illegal weapons and space vessels of war.
The rebellion asks the impossible of everyone. But to take the Empire out, there isn't any better option.

I genuinely believe she's the one who add that to the story, and Tony Gilroy was pushed to allow that since he has been given the privilege of creative freedom by Kathleen.

She talks ill of a senator chancellor and Emperor while puting up a mask to others manipulating and scheming behind the scenes.
Instead of a Emperor the Galaxy would get a ruthless lying Empress.
