I think we see it on the Rebels TV show. Eventually she's forced to openly declare rebellion in a broadcast seen by gazillions of people across the galaxy, and then becomes a fugitive and the official leader of the mainline Rebel Alliance.
I hope we get to see a live action version of this event in Andor season 2!

Eventually she had to give up her daughter to get her married to a wealthier person’s son, as requested by that person, in exchange for the further financial future of the rebellion

Her mind is made. The last few episodes were all about personal sacrifice for the greater good. Luthen, Lonni, Cinta, Kino, they all made their sacrifice, now it is Mon’s turn.

Every Mon Mothma succeeded in places where the prequel did well. The politics
It just shows how truly omni-present and dangerous the Empire was and how the walls are slowly and visibly closing in. Most importantly it moves away from this ridiculously simple minded version of Luke Skywalker came in and beat the empire, period. It shows just how difficult, how dangerous and how much sacrifice there was made before our hero jumped into his X Wing

    • @gentlepanda1988

This is what really sucks when you see this and other passionate SW media and then look back at the original trilogy. So many people were involved, so many layers to the empire’s corruption and so many people sacrificing everything for the cause just for a farm boy with superpowers to show up and take them down like it’s nothing. It’s not that the OG trilogy is bad, but a lot of what happens in media like Andor almost feels pointless when we know Luke is the hero at the end of the day and the empire’s canonical end is comically ridiculous and includes none of the realism you see here.

It honestly hit hard what Mothma intends to do. Was proud of her for not going forward with the 'meet and greet' with Davos son. But realizing she has no choice....I never expected anything like this in SW. More shows need to follow this template more or less.

This series is different from the others. No lightsabers, force-powers or such. Rather this series gives a close look at the different factions and differently levels of society and the conflicts and connections between them all focusing on the ordinary everyday people of the Star Wars Universe, I thinks it actually a refreshing experience from all the usual cliches.
This series is AWESOME for so many reasons.

    • @timgreenwald1043

The no lightsabers and force powers thing is so good. Because the show can now demonstrate the difference between actual conflict vs just fight scenes. I was so mad when they showed the Mandalorians in the clone wars cartoon had a lightsaber that was central to their culture only because Dave Filoni doesn't know how to write interesting scenes between Jedi and Mandalorians so he just gave them a lightsaber to fight with. They could have had their own political culture and conflicting ideals that could have been fleshed out. Instead we got, "darksaber go bzzzz! me follow you now!"

And I like in the scene prior we see Mons daughter taking an interest in a group that values the “old ways.” It’s subtly nodding at the fact Mon is using this to justify her future decisions. I just love how subtly impactful and emotional this scene was. She doesn’t need to outright say what she’s going to do, we can tell by her emotion and the emphasis on her daughter during this scene that she’s made up her mind. Brilliant

Yeah I love that this is likely what her daughter actually wants, but Mon knows if she goes through with it she’s effectively lost her daughter forever.

  • @IsaacKuo
    @IsaacKuo ปีที่แล้ว +69

Mon Mothma has already decided to do it. The scene was more about telling this to Vel, and connecting it to the consequences of Aldani. Of course, Mon Mothma doesn't know Vel was directly involved with Aldani (although I suspect she suspects, based on timing of when Vel was missing).
So there's a potential double meaning when Mon Mothma says, "We did this."
Either way, the main point of the scene is to show Vel realizing the costs of Aldani; that it has hit home in ways she couldn't have imagined.

02:36 This shift from an emotionally intense and overwhelming exchange to a tense poker face to the simulation of socially civil exchange occurs repeatedly in Andor, and gives an unprecedented dramatic intensity to the personal cost involved in belonging to the rebellion.

In my opinion this would have been a lot more heartbreaking if she was shown to have a good relationship with her daughter. And it would prolly end the bond officially broken if she goes through with this. Cause I am prolly the only one who has zero sympathy for the daughter.

Accounting. Her accounts were being heavily monitored and scrutinised. It’s not that she didn’t have there money but that she didn’t have a way to access them without being noticed.
If 400,000 was stolen from the Empire and was deposited into her account, this would immediately raise questions from the ISB and topple their whole operation.

@@godofsex7 Davo is not her enemy and not even a rival...there was nothing to suggest that. Mon Mothma and Davo are in very different social circles, and Davo wants an opening into her social circle. There _is_ an implication that Perrin may have originally came from Davo's social circle (because it's mentioned that they know each other). Clearly the social difference between Mon and Perrin has left her own arranged marriage loveless, and she'd want to avoid that for her daughter. But there is no implication that Davo is either an enemy or a rival.
Moreover, when Mon's association with the rebellion becomes known (as we already know it will), Davo is the person most likely to be able to hide himself and her daughter from the Empire's wrath.

I actually think Andor is the best SW since TESB. It’s what I always hoped SW would become as I grew up waiting for the Prequels. Was a bit disappointed with Prequel stuff like Jar Jar & bad(ly performed) dialogue, but still like a lot about them.
Incredibly underwhelmed by the Sequel Trilogy. Have really enjoyed The Mandalorian, (including season 3) and the animated stuff, but there is A LOT of lazy writing in those shows. Most everything else Disney has done is pretty blah.
But Andor was, like, Best-Picture-worthy (had it been a movie, or movie trilogy)! Can’t wait to binge watch the “Andor Trilogy” (Andor S1, Andor S2, and Rogue One)! And I hope Gilroy and his team can do something else in the SW live action universe-maybe something that follows Mon Mothma and other Rebels into the Original Trilogy era!!!🙏
