never thought i’d see the day that a couple of folks from England would be enjoying a bowl of Khao Soi Lao. even in areas of the US where asian culture and asian restaurants are prevalent, Khao Soi Lao is still somewhat of a rare dish. probably because the fermented bean paste is not so readily available. i’ve been enjoying Khao Soi since i was small child, much like your little one, and it is indeed my absolute favorite dish of all time too! all of the punchy flavors hit just right! cheers mate!

Love that you are appreciating Lao cuisine. I haven’t been back in over 5 years. So excited to be going back in September of 2022. Can’t wait to see my family and savor all the delicious Lao food.
This was so charming to watch, he was so relaxed and I loved how well he spoke Lao. I loved how he says padake. Don't forget the sticky rice my friend.
I love how you’re little boy Finn is such an easy eater 😍🤭 my stepson is nearing 10 yrs old and he’s such a picky difficult eater… As a foodie myself it’s a real struggle. These dishes look so yummy! Any ideas on how to make the Bahn Cuon yourself at home? I don’t have the funds to travel or a good Vietnamese restaurant near me, but I love Vietnamese food ever since I went to a Vietnamese restaurant with family years ago… I love cooking foods from all different cultures ; it’s my way of travelling without breaking the bank or having to leave my dogs at a dog hotel while being abroad 😂
your adorable son, steal the show... what a privilege to watch your son understand thai and lao, plus english. ban quan, i love the lao version with peanut, i typically have it for breakfast.

I've only had Thai Khao Soi, which i love. This looks Amazing. Was in Laos for a month this year, and never saw it. Spent most of the time in Vang Vieng. Only few days in LP.

Wow Laung Phra Bang has been so fascinated and tasty foods which 're similar to lots of S.E.A. main land food stuff. Pretty jobs for the little gourmet to roam with his lovely family.🥰
That looks like a great way to spend the day (or days, depending on the weather), and it reminds me of Thailand back in the day. Not as relaxing or tourist friendly back then, but the food and the total ambience alongside the Mekong and the tributary brought me back. And I do recall that some of the Lao guys who were with us loved all the Thai meals; not as different from what I really enjoyed in Thailand as Viet Nam dishes are. I did one of my mashups last night for dinner with yellow chile paste, and Thom Yum paste, coconut milk and chicken with a lot of leftover vegetables, palm sugar, shrimp paste, etc., and it might not have been an authentic curry, but it was damn good. Now if I can only convince my love to travel to Thailand/Laos/Viet Nam, and the rest, I might just get to try some real food; her daughters were over there two years ago and loved it, but they still can't get her on board.
Yeah the food is very similar to Isan for the most part. Obviously there are differences but a lot is the same too. Hopefully you can convince you're better half one day! The curry sounds great!
