Yes, Genesis GV80's in-line 6 diesel engine is very very refined and has lots of torque. But it's quite costly. Hope to show you Genesis GV80 with 2.5T and 3.5T as well. Thanks
I'd choose the Palisade, it is just more practical and a reasonable package.
@Season1 better2 Not really, the Palisade has a much more luxurious interior and the virtual lcd gauge cluster is better than Kia's old analog guages.
@@MrJrolon1975 Nothing old about analog gauges. Many people prefer analog because it's more accurate. The Palisade also doesn't have a more luxurious interior.... They basically the same quality, with the same features, just with different styles, colors, and shapes. Telluride for me, but if still take a Palisade any day of the week.

@@MrJrolon1975 I prefer analog guages because I drive at night working late or overnight shifts. Digital clusters are too bright in comparison, and I tend to keep my car for a longer time than average people so analog guages aren't as expensive if it needs to be replaced compared to fancy digital ones
@ I know Hyundai owns Kia. Regardless if you think analog gauges are timeless or not but the more luxury cars are using LCD gauges, Audi, Lexus, Mercedes. Look at BMW, their cars used analog for many yrs and now most of their vehicles are going with LCD gauges. Kia will be doing the same.

Great video! I’m dead set on the GV80 3.5 Prestige being my next SUV. It’ll be another 2 years from now but my mind is made up. For me, no other vehicle offers that level of luxury and tech for that price, and the best warranty to boot!

I own a Palisade Limited AWD fully loaded priced at 47k, I just can't see paying 70k for a loaded GV80. It looks fabulous but there isn't 23k difference.

Don’t say it before you sit on the sit. I tested G90 today $70k it feels so premium I was scarred to touching around the car. To me it feel better then S550 for its price.
Totally agree I just got my Palisade limint 3 days ago fully loaded for 47, sticker was 51k. My first Hyndai, I'd been a Toyota driver prior but I have to say the Korean car game is strong. I am absolutely loving driving this suv. The genesis is something I would have wanted to be flashy in my 20's, if I'd had that kind of money. One thing I do wish the Palisade had was that auto parking feature.
I love the Palisade - it just needs to have it's front grill scaled down a bit - that large border of silver is just WAY too much.....I think the GV80 is a beautiful car - especially the interior.

I really like the GV80, it's a solid luxury/sporty SUV. And selecting the GV80 in the 5 seat configuration would definitely be the smart choice. But I'd take a Palisade in black for my money. Thanks for the great content.

I think it says something that I currently drive a 2014 audi q7, and I'm looking at the new q7 but cross shopping this vehicle. I owned a genesis g80 for like a week and broke down and got the q7, but oooo this interior really may send me over. Thanks for great review, much to think about.

I hate that the Genesis is less roomy and also much prefer the Palisade's push gear control. I was going to get the Palisade but I read reviews about the Palisade having a lot of of road noise and wind noise so I'm not sure what car to get.

This is a great review. The GV80 is a beautiful luxury vehicle. I am not a fan of the steering wheel or the dial for changing gears. I like the push button in the Palisade. I like the features for the automotive window shades and double window for noise cancelation of the road. The Palisade has a more feminine look in my opinion and the price is great. The Hyundai Palisade is my choice. Thanks for sharing.

Genesis has always been great for bang-for-buck. For $70,000, this is incredibly well appointed with options you don’t even find on German competitors for $20,000 to $30,000 more.

The gear selector I think the Hyundai is better too. Honestly I think the GV80 should just be a 5 seater? The 7 seater is a nono because of the limited space.

as I know and experienced driving Hyundai (Veracrus its an old model one )but I feel more comfortable when I'm at high speed I felt more heavier and balance.
If I make a comparison to other cars brand like (Lexus GX 300, Ford Wild Trak, Prius etc.) as my experienced I felt touch the sky when I'm at high speed, ohh I'm gonna low down the speed right now , it's not safe you know u are at high speed and u felt ur wheels didn't touch the ground.

Side by side, i think that the Hyundai Palisade looks better, at least from the front view. For the price difference, i would take the Palisade, both are nice looking cars, the Genesis is a bit faster, and they're both have some luxury on the inside. Palisade is the more sensible buy, i don't see enough of a difference to justify a big difference in price.

They aren't even in the same league. Pretty much made by the same parent company but Genesis GV80 is a luxury RWD based utility vehicle and Palisade is a FWD family utility vehicle.

I noticed the the Korean Palisade has 3 headlights vs 2 in America. As well as the Korean Palisade having the light for the DRL that is between the top drl and the headlights.
The Kia sonata front side and dimensions for me.
Plus at cost it has everything both genesis and Hyundai has but cost less. I do like the info system on the genesis. So big.
I do believe because they are use the same system, one could find a way to upgrade the Kia system to work like the genesis system.
Now I will really like to see a full compare between all three if you ever get the chance.

Note that the top trim level of the GV80 is only available in a five-seater configuration. No, I don’t know why.

Great comparison review Charlie. I’m just tying to figure out the 700lb weight differential for the GV80 vs the Pallisade with their mostly shared platforms, similar sized engines and basic content. Even as car makers (Germans) are increasingly able to somewhat overcome the mass of these large crossover models with nonetheless solid handling it’s always better to have a lighter weight vehicle chassis to start and work with.
Actually, their platforms and engines are completely different and not shared at all. The RWD/AWD platform usually adds 2-300 lbs compared to FWD/AWD and the turbo diesel is usually a heavier engine too. There's also more sound deadening and materials with the panoramic moonroof and more electronics and speakers which add weight. The base Pallisade is around 700lbs less, but the top trim Pallisade is almost 200 lbs more than the base. But the Genesis cars and SUVs are still very heavy. I was hoping they could find a way to reduce the weight. But without using a lot of aluminum or other very expensive lighter materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, titanium alloys), there are limits to weight savings of high strength steel.
I'd have to go with the GV80 since it's available with rear or all wheel drive. Now I would have chosen the Palisade if it was built off the Genesis rear drive platform.

I only bought the palisade 2021 because of the unique cascade DRL that no other cars (even cadillacs/they have a straight LINE vertical DRL). Also it has bigger interior (roomy) than my first choice toyota highlander and even 4runner (SR5/MPG is bad)

I prefer the GV80 over the Palisade front end. To me, its more classy, elegant. I am concerned though. Consumer Reports just gave the GV80 a less than stellar review for reliability. I realize its a new model so reliability is difficult or impossible to know at this time, however, concerning to me. I'll be test driving one in Buffalo this week.

The good thing about brands like Genesis, Lexus, Lincoln etc is that they have mainstream brands from which they are able to offset some costs of developing a luxury brand. The original luxury makers like Mercedes, Audi and BMW don't really so they will be more expensive. And when they try to save costs it shows sadly.

I really wanted to like my brand new 2020 Genesis G70, but mine came with several issues: (1)it made a horrible clunking noise when making left turns, and the whole car would vibrate, (2)the driver seat window made clicking sounds, as if the glass had too much pressure against it every time it went up/down, and (3)when driving on bumpy roads, first, music on my iphone would randomly turn on without touching anything; then when I turned the music off, the radio would automatically turn on.
It took 3 months and 3 different service centers to finally discover what was causing the clunking noise - faulty engine mounts! Needless to say, I no longer trust my car and Hyundai, as well. Had I known my brand new “luxury” sedan was going to come with all these defects, I wouldn’t have dished out all that money and bought a different car instead, not a Hyundai or Genesis, that’s for sure. Just a word of caution.

Definitely the gv80 but the palisade is still a good car
Are these 2 cars even comparable though? Genesis is a luxury brand and Hyundai a mainstream brand. Those backup lamps are an extremely clever idea. It'll shine on an object in the dark while reversing so you can see in the camera more clearly how close. And the way it spreads out meaning that even when turning while reversing it helps. Well done on that idea Genesis.

You didn't mention what the loaded Palisade costs but it's about $50K, so about a $20K premium for the GV80 but that's very fair IMO👈

You could also get a base gv80 for about the same price as a loaded palisade. Less features than the palisade obviously in base spec, but still a nice option to cross-shop.

Looks great but that steering wheel is a huge mistake. It’s in your face all the time and you have to wonder what the designers were thinking. When it’s due for an update they should get rid of it.
