Her husband was hilarious in the film 😂😂 So happy for America's success 🙌🏼
As a Latina that married a white dude that doesn't speak Spanish trying to teach my kid Spanish I felt that😅
💯 in the same boat! 😊
As a white guy on the other side... I feel it too.
I also happen to have an academic "understanding" of the situation and have a fourth-wall-obliterating, meta-understanding of how everything I "was taught" and "studied" and researched through most of my adult life does not come close to helping me bring it to life with my own family.
It... It's hard...
my white dude didn't speak *_any_* Spanish and now won't stop and he's stolen all my catch phrases, now everyone thinks they're his and they love him 😭
so I may be biased but sometimes it's better if you keep Spanish between u and the kids lol
We didn't speak English at home until our son was in school. Pimsleur and I became best friends.
It's hard.
I recently binge watch Superstore and wow dare i to say that the show is criminally underrated and Ferrera's performance was just so joyful to watch. If anyone is interested to see what else this talented woman has done, i highly recommend Superstore.
It’s a really good show.
Love that show!! I was so mad when she quit the show and then got canceled! I really wanted 4 more seasons
@@javiruiz8365 Yes, it ended way too soon. She had great chemistry with the male lead.
@@javiruiz8365I wouldn't even say that it got cancelled. The show had a proper ending and at best, she was in the last couple of episodes of the show so that was pretty nice
Superstore is such a fun, comfort watch and everyone is amazing in it
America as a country may be divided but there is one beautiful America that we all love together and raised an entire generation 🥰
🤦The US doesn't own the word
I’ve loved her for so many years so good to see her interviewed for the first time in a whiiiiile. What a treasure 💜
I have loved her since Ugly Betty!! I just think she seems like THE most genuine person… I haven’t seen the new movie yet- we’re watching tonight- can’t wait!!
I love her since Real women have curves .
SHE PLAYS ASTRID??!!
I’ve had a crush on this woman for years and never realized 😂
I relate so hard to America’s husband… I’m in Texas and I took so many years of Spanish and even had a job where I had to read official documents in Spanish for like 13 years, but I can NOT speak it for crap.
My 8 year old niece is super bilingual though, like amazingly so!
Loved America in "Superstore" (and had a big crush on her). That is one of the best tv shows off all time. Also one of the best finales of all time on that show, too.
I would have had no idea that the character of Gloria's husband was being played by a non-actor. It's a very small part, but he crushes it, and comes off as totally adorable.
My immigrant mom never taught me German, and I had to take French until high school. But yes, I could understand her - plus, she spoke Germglish (German version of Spanglish) so even when she was trying to be sneaky I would catch on. 😂
as a german it is called denglisch
My Omi was the only one of her family who didn't teach her children German. I don't know why, exactly, but I think it has some to do with her being married to a WWII Army veteran who caught a lot of flack for marrying a German woman (she and the few relatives who survived the war came as refugees in 1956). Every where we visited, everyone spoke German with each other. I tried to learn, but foreign languages are not my forte. I just know that they talked about people in front of them all the time.
Growing up I’ve loved America’s performance as The title character in Ugly Betty. Used to watch it when I can on channel 4 here in the uk 🇬🇧.
great interview

America: He just gets scared of the dragons.
Seth: [pushing the dragon’s hoard of jewels from earlier under the desk with his foot] Oh, really?
Yeah I gave up teaching my boys Spanish with an English speaking husband. I tried with my first because I was home with him until 2 yo and he was learning but when I went back to work it was English all the time.
America is fantastic in barbie and her speech in it is so outstanding
We love america ferrera and seth meyers
Dragons is scary. Chin up, kid.
Love her so much!!! 🩷🩷🩷
America Ferrera and Seth Meyers are friends in real life
Una Actris de orgullo--Hondu--Americana, La inteligencia esta en todas partes.
She's so perfect I used to hate in about her but I love her honestly I love her so much
We speak spanish at home, my kid spoke spanish till it was 2yo, then a blend of spanish and english. At some point before 6yo he drop spanish completely.
oh, I love her!!❤😂
Def my first time finding out she plays Astrid 💀
Dude really?!
This is hilarious! 😂😂😂
I freaking love her😂😍
That colour is stunning on her! Q
It makes me feel so good to know that studying a language for years and not being able to speak it is not unique to me. 😊
she's such an amazing human being and a phenomenal artist, I'm so glad to see her thriving 🩵🥰🥰
They seem to be getting along fine 😂
Love her
Shes beautiful
Best line ever! Also teaching myself Spanish and cannot speak it to be understood.
Legend ❤
omfg if only we had a little "who he was" moment in the credits or something. That makes me love his character so much more!
Si se puede as she goes to the gynecologist is hilarious
I didn’t even know she was Astrid!!!
I was so trilled when America was going to remake 'Betty la feya' in English and starring an actress named America even tho America wasn't feya enough.
This was tough to watch. We have conversations like this where I live however it's not that friendly.
God I miss superstore
To be fair, I watched uhhh what I think is called Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets at around 5 and was also scared of the basilisk so totally understand 😭 I had no idea she was Astrid tho! I recently rewatched the first movie, truly my comfort film. First time watched it on the plane when we were moving abroad so that helped a lot 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
My dad is half Puerto Rican but doesn’t speak Spanish but he understands a lot of it. Me and my brothers are kinda of the same way too but my dad understands it more than us. My dad said we keep on it as we get older but have failed lol
Why does Seth introduce guests like Kermit from “The Muppet Show?”
SI SE PUEDE!!!
Omfg I didn’t even realize she played Astrid
she checked youre ass on the launguage barrier lol
❤❤❤ *FROM THE THUMBNAIL I WAS EXPECTING HER TO ROCK A TANK TOP AND SOME JEANS*
I’m like this about French. Bad at speaking it but understand a lot more about it
America is really funny!
Not me in El Paso watching this 😂
I would suggest 50mp upgrade to 3x on s25 series 🥺❤❤
My husband would have the power to remind everyone how much was based on him and me in an effective way and point out differences in styles of living. Another one would remind everyone who those characters were based on to begin with and how much others have overused our stories and sacrifices. the other would have money and not care to much about social consequences of being blunt.
My partner is half white half Mexican I am the only one in my house hold whose speak Spanish but I been teaching my son as much as I can lately his been asking mom how do you say this in Spanish ❤
You don't need to speak to a child directly in order for them to acquire a language that's being spoken around them.
I first thought it was Kourtney K in the thumbnail lol
maybe it's like me watching anime without English subs and sort of understanding the gist it, though I cannot speak Japanese. I pick up familiar words but not the sentence structure.
(been watching anime for 30 years)
America Ferrera is adorable she's a goddess the curves on her she's painfully gorgeous, that smile is killer
Lol totally forgot Gloria had a husband in the movie 😂
WOW.I ALMOST DIDNT RENOISE AMERICA FERRERA.WOW.I HAVENT SEEN HER SINCE UGLY BETTY&SHE WAS WONDERFUL.SHES LOOKS BEATIFUL NOW.I DIDNT KNOW SHE CUT HER BEATIFUL LONG HAIR..
I thought her Husband was Jonah.
Whoa.... real women have curves
Forgot about that
That and Kick it up are the first things I saw her on Disney
@@KimberlyArrington-dd3wm
I was also kinda making a comment about her nice figure too... 😏😍
That’s a GREAT movie.
I meant Real Women.
This host felt so forced, uncomfortable, and just weird. America definitely dominated this interview and I’m glad she reversed the card on him at the end like what languages are your kids learning ? Bcus it definitely felt like he was trying to belittle her imo…
Dang she's aged like Google stock
Very 🔥🔥🔥 looking
That much money generated and its really bad given what happened to me and how shrug is all I e gotten for a decade. I expect smthg else soon
YES! why is it ALWAYS on people of color to do the heavy lifting? That deserved a way longer acknowledgement from the audience. Lotta white guilt that night 😬
Y does it all fall in the PEOPLE of color
Why are you butting out just to parrot her? Just let her tell her story, dude!
Ngl, I always mix her up with Gina Rodrigues
Meh Spanish is the colonizer's language anyway, it's fine not to learn it 😁
This is how I make myself feel better for not knowing it.
So is English.
Yeah but they already know English, no sense stressing about their kids learning another one. @@Leblribrbrrq
yea, teach your kids quechua instead
