    This is one of few lessons which will explain you some jewelry making basics.
    I am sharing only those which I use myself. There are plenty more different techniques, materials and tools out there, but I think with my easy and simple basic techniques you will be ready to start your little jewelry making hobby :)
    If there will be something what you would like to add - please comment. The idea of this videos is just to give some help to those who don't know anything about jewelry and wants to start. I might make some videos later on where I will be just explaining more precisely about tools, materials and so on.

      Thank you so much for your videos! I am new to your channel and have a question I would like to ask someone who is experienced in jewelry making. Do you know how to make sure that a jump ring will be strong? I am always nervous and afraid that they are not aa strong as a pre-made necklace I would buy from the store. Is this true? Or am I just being anxious about something that I don't need to worry about?? Does anyone else feel this way when they use jump rings??

    Can you please give me some help on how to make sure a jump ring never comes off! I'm really in to jewelry making but the jump ring always comes off! Please help me and comment back. Many thanks x

    • @simplyaniko
      @simplyaniko  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well this is a problem that many jewellery makers have. Professional jewellery makers make sure they always use good quality metals so it's not as soft and as easy to pull apart. Even more professional jewellery makers make sure they weld each jumping.. I mean they put the melted metal in between the jumping ends and sort of this melted metal when cools off joins the rings forever..Surely we can't do that as we are not professional jewellers.. but try to make sure you are pulling the jumping ends towards each other more than it needs to be.. and then pull them back.. I can't explain this.. Maybe I will need to make a very quick tutorial for this...

    I have been playing with gold chains (not real, good quality gold. just from Michaels) to make my accessories and find i always accidentally rub the coating off of them with my pliers. is this just a chain quality issue, or is there a plier type that's less likely to do this?

    • @simplyaniko
      @simplyaniko  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't have thins problem even with silver coated in gold.. maybe it is the pliers, try some others just to see. Otherwise maybe the coating is too weak? What do you see underneath? Silver?

    • @lyddiecatt
      @lyddiecatt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@simplyaniko thanks, i’ll try more! yes its silver in colour underneath. the chain is really big and chunky and harder to bend when needed which might be part of the problem. the jump rings i was using were also big and pretty much impossible to move with the pliers so i was doing so to the chain instead. that might be the main problem

    • @simplyaniko
      @simplyaniko  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@lyddiecatt hmmm yes, could be possible the reason for that. Huge chain links which are hard to open require more strength and then you apply so much strength that it rubs off the coating.

    • @lyddiecatt
      @lyddiecatt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So u dont need to solder the jump rings?

    • @simplyaniko
      @simplyaniko  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not always. For precious metal and stone jewelry you better do so, but for simple ones you don't need to. You can of course if you are really attached to it. Soldering helps it not to fall off, not to get lost. But normal simple strong jump rings also hold very well
