People who selflessly make their projects take 4 times as long because they are moving cameras around, checking sound, ensuring good lighting, and explaining the process - all so the rest of us can service our vehicles and save hundreds or thousands of dollars. These are the real heroes of our age. I really hope videos like this never get removed, some day these vehicles will be impossible to service and these videos will be invaluable.
Appreciate the walk through. Heads up to those with this issue, turns out the connector can be loose causing the outage, I tightened up the pins and added dialectic grease then my light started working again. You can access the plug as soon as you take the cover off the tailgate and test it out before going through ordering a new one.
Very helpful. Thank you. Seems like a lot of us Jeep owners are having problems with a $115+ part. Even if covered by warranty it's faster to do it myself. I wish they made the light better, but this sure made it easy for me to do it myself. Thanks again. Enjoy that beer.
Great vid! My light has been out for 2 years after my stupidty, tailgate down while towing a trailer. After eayching your vid i installed a new one in about 30 minutes.
FWIW, my 2021 Mojave had a bad connection (i.e. LED was still good). Didn't want to waste time taking to dealer, so was motivated to fix at home. Turned out the male connector on LED was not making good connection to plug/harness (came on when wiggling connection). In my case, it seems the male prongs were a bit thin for female connector, so only option was to twist the male prongs a little (more like horizontal blades) to force more pressure on female end. All good now. I could have probably just adjusted wire to put more pressure on connector, but that would not have been a long-term solution.
