Brian Wilson, who wrote most of the songs for The Beach Boys and really created the band is considered a genius. The first time the Beatles listened to the album Pet Sounds They were so impressed and went on to do Sergeant Pepper‘s lonely hearts club band in response. 😎👍
I love how, as the song plays, you're just smiling, and you can't help it. Sometimes, you go back to a neutral face, but then that smile creeps back in. The magic of this song: You can't listen to it and not feel happy!
I love seeing your reaction to groups like The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson brilliantly infused California sun into many of his hits. I’m a big Beatles fan and am appreciative of how they and The Beach Boys drove each other competitively, ultimately benefitting fans with wonderful songs which will be cherished forever.
One of the cool things about this song is it uses an instrument called the Electro-theremin. it's a custom-built instrument that produces sound by sensing the movement of a musician's hands in the air, similar to a traditional theremin but with a different design and control mechanism. Have you ever been to one of those science play places and they have a harp that plays just by you moving your hands through the "light strings"? Same principal. It's the eerie alien like sound you hear.
Takes my mind back to my skakeboarding days back in the 80's. Had a half pipe between my parents house and the neighbours out in the field. Beach Boys were always playing on the boom box some time through the day 😀
I've always loved this song, amd habe heard it a bazillion times, but I've never heard this slightly extended version! Nice. Thanks for the reaction! ❤❤❤
YAY! Sooooo happy you did this! They have TONS of incredible songs that you will lovvvvveeeee! 😀 Their song “God only knows” is Paul McCartneys favorite song!
When I hear this song it makes me think of sunny beaches in California with palm trees and people surfing and it just gives me really good vibes. The Beach Boys were a very original, unique group with a sound all their own. Thank you so much for sharing your great reaction. Your'e so correct, that a lot of music today is very dark and there are just a handful of artists that I like in today's music. If I could make a suggestion for more songs to react to, today is Steve Perry's birthday. He was the ex-frontman of Journey and he's one of the greatest singer/songwriters in rock. I'd really love to hear you react to more of their amazing music, such as "Mother, Father," "Faithfully," "Wheel In the Sky," or "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever." But really, you won't be disppointed with any of their beautiful songs, because they're all great. You're doing an awesome job with your reactions. Thansk so much once again.
You have to check out the Wrecking Crew. They were the handful of LA studio musicians that basically played every song you will hear from that era. It's probably not reaction worthy but it will give you a great perspective on how the hits were made.
This is generally agreed to be one of the best songs of any generation. A classic for all time! Thank you! Next try “I Get Around” and “God Only Knows”
Great reaction!! Always loved this song, however I have never heard this version, which twice threw in short sections, 1 where everything dropped to the lowest just before the Aaahhh and main theme takes over again, and 2 at the end. I've heard this song hundreds of times in my life and those seemingly musically unrelated segments were never in it. Just wondering if whoever posted that originally messed up???
Interesting. There were some passages in there towards the end I have never heard before! Must be a slightly different version than the radio version. You started with their most complex song, but The Beach Boys have such a happy, wonderful, harmonious sound with many great songs.
You really want to listen to the album pet sounds not a bad song on. It came out in 1966 and is considered possibly the greatest album ever it inspired the Beatles to make Sergeant peppers.
Their early stuff is teenage fun and angst, all with their signature harmony. Fun, Fun, Fun ; In My Room; I Get Around. The list goes on.
The Beach Boys, how can you not smile! The harmonies and feel good songs are endless. In My Room and God Only Knows are two of my favorites.
I was 17 when this came out and it played all day on our AM radios. It was the best summer time ride around song I remember in 67'

The Beach Boys' ballads are heavenly - "Don't Worry Baby", "Surfer Girl", "In My Room", "The Warmth of the Sun", and more....
Another deep rabbit hole, Brian Wilson is a musical genius.

It doesn't get all that much better then listening to The Beach Boys everyday

The late 60's were a time of great musical experimentation. This was one experiment in harmony.
A joyously unique sound that will never be replicated.❤
You have to smile with their music. No bad sounds from the Beach Boys. Dive in. Love your channel.
This group was huge in the late 60's. They have a deep repertoire. Listen to God Only Knows next.
Yes I was going to suggest this!!

Look up "theremin." It's the spooky sounding electric instrument used in this.

Sending good vibrations from Cape Cod & Islands
Unbelievably it's made my top 10 of all time. It's special.

California Girls
Warmth of the Sun
In My Room
Don’t Worry Baby
All great songs by this group!
There is an awesome video for "God Only Knows" from BBC muisc. Lots of different artists.
This is generally agreed to be one of the best songs of any generation. A classic for all time! Thank you!
Next try “I Get Around” and “God Only Knows”
Ahhhh, love the Beach Boys. Such a great band. Many, many great songs. I Get Around , Surfin USA, Little Deuce Coupe.

Gotta check out some Tommy James and the Shondells
Absolutely!👍🏻
The musicians who recorded the Beach Boys songs are among the best to ever live including the grat hal Blaine and Glen Campbell
Sometimes, I want to listen to sad music. Sometimes, I want to listen to upbeat music. Sometimes, both. My mood tells me.
its funny because young people say "vibes" and "good vibes" and don't know that the saying originates with this song in popular culture.
Another great song. Keep going
This is a classic!!
play surfer girl by beach boys
This is Wilson's masterpiece.
This version was not played on the radio.
If you think this song is unique, check out their song, "Heroes and Villains". It is crazy and fun.
Now you are getting somewhere my brother.
Like the Beatles, the Beach Boys evolved. Start from the begining.
Unfortunately, not the original version, but it gives you a flavour of their work.
This isn't the original single version, some subtle but definite differences.
Surfing USA...Surfer Girl, California girls...what else you want my man.
Wouldn't it be nice for the next Beach Boys track

Barbara ann.
What’s not to love about The Beach Boys.
This is not the popular single version we grew up with, so it's always weird to hear it. Enjoy the Beach Boys.
They had a ton of hits before this one but they were more typical pop rock and roll.
